Hi all, I want to sort my objectValues('News') at date_add, the date that the News objects were added. I have written a python method to do this: def list_peers(self, sortkey='id'): """returns a listing of peer news objects sorted on sortkey""" itemlist = [] for item in self.REQUEST['PARENTS'][1].objectValues('GNAW'): itemlist.append( (getattr(item,sortkey),item) ) itemlist.sort() return itemlist I can give the sortkey as an argument to the method. When I put the following lines: <div tal:define="itemlist python:here.list_peers(sortkey='date_add')"> <span tal:repeat="item itemlist"><p tal:content="item"></p></span> in my ZPT I get the following output: (<News instance at 92c0e48>, '29 may 2002') (<News instance at 92c0f10>, '30 may 2002') (<News instance at 92c0418>, '31 may 2002') Now I want to implement this in ZPT as follows: <div tal:define="itemlist python:here.list_peers"> <div tal:repeat="item itemlist"> <a href="#" tal:attributes="href item/absolute_url" tal:content="item/title">Title news</a> </div> </div> But I get Undefined Errors. How can I get to the items in the itemlist? Greetz Nico

Accessing a DTML object

I am hoping some knowledgeable person out there can help me. I am trying to make a simple little web calendar. The first page that of the calendar is a list of dates that come from a bunch of DTML Documents in a folder called 'events'. Each DTML Document is an event. To do this I use something like: <ul> <dtml-in expr="events.objectValues()"> <li><a href="calendarItem?cal_id=<dtml-varid>"><dtml-var date></a> </dtml-in> </ul> This makes a list of dates that are linked to a DTML Method 'calendarItem'. I pass the variable cal_id to 'calendarItem' so it can display more information about the date. How do i use the variable 'calendarItem' to open the DTML Document into an HTML page? I tried: <dtml-in expr="events.objectValues('DTML Document')"> <dtml-if expr="id == cal_id"> <dtml-var date><br> <dtml-var title><p> <dtml-var sequence-item> </dtml-if> </dtml-in> But for some reason that did not work. O.K. "terrible" was al little too hard. Can you give me a hint to the patch you are mentioning? That would be of great help to me. "Terrible" might be a little strong in this context, but yes, it's annoying. ;-) Maybe sometime in the future you will be able to mix the two, it's not too hard to fake versions in a storage. I think somebody actually sent me a patch to do this at one point. - C

Thank you for this information. That´s terrible. How can I work with my site using sessions for changing the language of the site and versions to manage the content in a version? Is there a plan to get this two techniques compatible in the future? Problems with Versions and Zope 2.5.X

Hello! I´m working with Zope 2.5.0 for a while now. But I have a problem to work with versions. Sometimes I get the following error when I try to work in a version and then "view" a object: Error Type: Unsupported Error Value: TemporaryStorage is incompatible with versions Does somebody know this problem. It´s not always coming up so I can´t reconstruct it. When I quit working in the version in such a case, refresh the Browser, and start again working in the version, the error is away. I don´t understand it and hope that somebody knows the solution. Bye Steffen

Newbies to Zope are encouraged to work through the Elvis Lives tutorial I completed Elvis Lives DTML tutorial about a year ago and have been dabbling in Zope/DTML fairly bumpily since. The high priests of code say forget DTML and give very solid reasons for using Zope Page Templates and incorporating some python scripts when necessary. The major reason they argue is that the code will be clean and easy to maintain, DTML can quickly become a confused mess when you go back to update or make a change. Python they encourage is a good first programming language to learn. Zope is moving away from DTML towards ZPT so perhaps it's time recast Elvis into a ZPT tutorial format. Many Zope newbies come from a design or html background it would be nice for us to be pointed in the right direction from the start. Waiting at traffic lights in Beale St Memphis I had a near Elvis experience. I heard Elvis and a woman talking behind me. I turned around and saw a fat tall bald guy in his sixties chatting to his partner. On my second day in Memphis I realised nearly all local men spoke like Elvis. I tried to discover Zope Zen via DTML but haven't quite made it.
