problems with SiteRoot in Zope 2.5.1

Hi, I installed and tested apache and zope (2.4.3). I used SiteRoot to be able to use one page for both secure and non-secure access. (using http://www.zope.org/Members/unfo/apache_zserver_ssl) Everything works perfectly. Now I want to transfer my site to the production server. I thought this would be a nice opportunity to get the newest version of Apache and Zope. Unfortunately in Zope 2.5.1 I don't seem to be able to get SiteRoot functioning as ik does with Zope 2.4.3. Has something changed in Zope or SiteAcces? I know most people prefer VirtualSiteMonster. Does anybody know whether it is possible to have a configuration with both http and https directing to the same pages like the example in the above mentioned document (apache_zserver_ssl)? Tal:attributes and passing parameters

Hi, Thanks for the suggestions .I tired to use the suggested method to send the parameter but i am getting an error I tried <table tal:define="results list_clients; start request/start|python:0; batch python:modules['ZTUtils'].Batch(results, size=5, start=start)"> <div tal:repeat="result batch" > <td><a href="zpt" tal:attributes="href python:here.pset_delclient(txtId=result.id,haction='del');">Delete</a></td>#pset_delclient is #the pythonscript that needs two parameters to be passed called txtId and haction. If i send only one parameter txtId i get the error: Error Type: TALESError Error Value: exceptions.KeyError on txtId in '', I have tried also result/id,and result['id'](Are all these options possible to get ?) If i adjust the parameters in anyway i get an error on haction also : Regards John Kunchandy

Grrr. No CUF anymore ...

I've been using Cookie User Folder for sometime now, but I've noticed some weird behavior which I think might be due to CUF. I went to check the website (thinking I might upgrade or find bug reports) and found that CUF is now "deprecated". Oh joy. :-P CUF's deprecation announcement includes a reference to "CookieCrumbler", which however, is not the same thing at all. Searching zope.org yields 28 results for "user folder" software products. So, what should I migrate to? * I want cookie-based authentication, with custom login forms and an option to change the cookie expiration time from session cookies to month or year long cookies. (CUF does this). * I'm currently using a MySQL table to identify users, but actually handling password and access through CUF. Obviously, it would be nice to have the user folder handle this synchronization for me. CUF didn't do this, but it would be nice. * Ideally the choice I make will not also be pulled out from under me within six months of selecting it. Any suggestions? Thanks! newbie question - start page configuration

I am new to zope and have gone through the tutorial and now what I wonder is how to change the address of my page from; http://mypage.com:8080/Examples/mynewpage to simply http://mypage.com:8080 I know I can lose the 8080 part in the configuration file by changing the port to 80. Reasonable maximum # of objects in ZODB?

Hello, I am trying to convince my boss to go with a Zope-based solution for a web app. I had heard that the ZODB scales to about 5 million objects (products and text files, mostly) with reasonable performance. Is this right? What are reasonable performance and size limits for the ZODB on single-proc intel server hardware? Thanks, VL

Looks like standard install means that Zope takes a good 30s until the server is ready to service users. I asked because I was wondering if there were optimizations I could add to cut it down to, says, about 5s, so I can use Zope as a personal tool like eg. CityDesk. Thx everyone for your tips EvH.

I can see a bunch of .py and .pyc files in sub-directories, so no ideas if some could be removed to force Zope to use byte-code-compiled files to speed things up. Anybody else running Zope 2.5.1 under W2K (256RAM, IDE drive) has to wait about 30s before it's up and running? Thx much for the pointer EvH.
