I'm new to structured text and I've recently started using it for use in applications where users need to enter events that need HTML code and they don't know HTML. The problem I have with it is I don't know how to make something bold *and* italic. Also, has anyone ever had any trouble with using it? --colyn

installing zope on ISPs server - in root dir, they say...

Hello again - One of the support people at my ISP instructed me to install the linux version of Zope in my root directory on their server. While The Zope Book advises to install in the Zope directory. My guess is that the ISP is new to Zope. Any suggestions?? I FTPd Zope-2.5.1-linux2-x86.gz to my root directory on my ISPs server. I untarred it and now there is a Zope-2.5.1-linux2-x86 directory with all the appropriate files and sub-directories in my root directory. Thanks- David dw(a)pzaz.net

metal strangeness

Ok, can someone suggest a better way of saying this: <span omit-tag="" tal:define="skin here/getSkin ; locSkin here/getLocationSkin ; nonavbar python:1"> <metal:block use-macro="here/skins/${locSkin}/pagelayout/macros/${skin}"> According to my reading of the docs, either use-macro="here/skins/?locSkin/pagelayout/macros/?skin", or the above, should work. Certainly, here/pagelayout/macros/?skin works, but if I put a ?locSkin in the middle of the url, it complains about a list() operation over a non-sequence. By my reading of the specs, metal attributes should use the tales syntax, and the tales syntax says the above (first) is valid, I think? Any suggestions/help greatfully accepted ;) KJL

python mysql module not loading - where should it be?

I believe I have the correct files on the system to get zope working with mysql, but mysql is not loading. Could it be that zope wants /usr/local/lib/python2.2/site-packages/_mysql.so ? I notice in some documentation that zope needs to load _mysql and that seems to be the only similar file on the system. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Yahoo! Signals

Hi. I currently have a problem regarding signals. I'm using pylog (a python - prolog interface) for some generator code which should be creating Zope objects. The problem is the usage of signals in the pylog code, to detect timeouts when waiting for responses from the prolog interpreter. The problem arises with the use of multiple threads where the use of "signal()" is only valid in the main thread. It came to my mind that currently signal handling is going to be implemented in Zope 2.6 afaik (zigg, you are doing this, or am i wrong?) and maybe there is some way to provide an infrastructure on distributing signals to methods in multiple threads or something like that (if possible). dtml-if and processing a form

Hello, I have a form which has number of fields and also has 3 radio buttons, I am a bit stuck as to how to process this form as I want to be able to depending on the radio button choice made for the response to be a different dtml document. So if I choose radio button 1, the result will be added to the database and the response will take me to page1.dtml; if the choice is radio button2 the response will take me to page2.dtml and so on.... What is the best way to do this two actions, add the data to the database and redirect to the correct page? Thanks Norm

type() and types

The type() function is exceptionally usful for debugging but is unavailabe in python scripts for security reasons. In my debug framework I would like to re-enable it. Since it's a built-in just configuring to allo the import of types isn't enough. What's the hack.

Is "Acquire permissions settings?" still checked on those permissions? - For each area where you want users to have non-default access, did you create a User Folder there (or in one of its parents) with their usernames, passwords, and roles? Login using the Zope utility

Hi, I thought I could use Zope's Login utility to restrict access to certain folders and create users (local users) who can use these folders. I notice that there is a trail as I move around the site. I cannot let some users into these area but they can see the path and without some type of restriction they can have access.
