Hi, I would like to return a structured result (an "object") from a Python script to use it conveniently in a page template. E.g. I would like to have a get_person Python script which gives back a person with a name and an address. Then I could use a page template like: Name: John, lives at London What I tried, but did not work: 1. Create an empty object in the Python script, set some attribute, give back the result class Person: pass p = Person() p.name = "Mike" ... return p Result: Error Type: TypeError Error Value: attribute-less object (assign or del) 2. Create an object with functions class Person: def name(self): return "Mike" ... result: Resource not found Sorry, the requested resource does not exist. Check the URL and try again. Resource: ?.Person instance at 0157E384 3. Give back a dictionary return {'name':'Mike', 'address':'Paris'} the script now works, but I cannot access the values from the page template with the person/name notation. Any ideas how to achieve this functionality in ZOPE? I think it is so basic, that surely exists a way to do this. Gabor

concurrent logins and Zope

Hi everybody, I'd like to know if Zope can keep track of concurrent logins of the same user and treat them independently. Let's say user 'foo' connects to a portal and has many tasks to do (at the same time). He keeps an open browser window for each of them, logging in from each window (from now on I will call 'session' the whole sequence of actions issued from the same browser window, starting from login up to logout): what I'm thinking of is having the possibility to 'isolate' one login from another (of the same user at the same time) and keep track of each of these 'sessions' independently from one another: does Zope support this kind of task some way? I mean does it have internal structures, APIs, functions etc to do this or do I have to code the whole mechanism from scratch? It's worth noting that the point is not only telling one browser window from another (the BrowserIdManager fits well here), but also (mostly) keeping track of every 'session' (group of actions issued from the same browser by the same user) in parallel with every other. Of course the opposite situation could come handy as well: treating all the requests (issued by the same user) as an unique 'session', without regard of the browser window these were issued from. Any help will be appreciated (also references to source code). Thanks in advance, cheers, Carlo. P.S. With 'keeping track of a session' I mean keeping track of the status of the user related to that session, in some data structure like a table, dictionary, etc.

Keeping my promises - writing tutorials for Zope

During Europython 2002's BOF-sessions I promised to contribute to the community by writing tutorials for how to get into Zope for beginners. The need for these tutorials is clear, since we are teachingh Zope in our company, Fountain Park, and at the same other people have the same need too. Besides the Zope Book and other published books, there has been nothing to support users that are beginning their journey on Zope. There has been several howto's and guides for different things, but many are outdated or have only about one subject where as these tutorials are intended to be a series of information that will give a more complete view for the beginner user. Meaning these tutorials will be a series that have a common story that ties them together. These tutorials will not invent the wheel again, but create a clear path that people can follow and start their journey. My wish is that these tutorials will help more people to start use Zope in a good way and possible help Zope to land better into corporate world, when more users have knowledge and trust into this system. This is the beginning of my small contribution to the community. Hope this helps and someone else will also want to contribute. What I would like to hear from everyone else is, what things should be covered and how, to which other resources and how-to's I should link to and -- the most important part -- ' Hey nice idea, I could write about this thing' or 'yes, I commented to the wiki just a couple of minutes ago'. External Editor - Big Pictures

Hi! I've got the problem, that the External-Editor only opens pictures to a size around 91Kb. If the picture is bigger, it's only opened in the Browser. Does anybody know, how to handle this problem? My System: Suse Linux 8.0 Mozilla 1.0 Thanks Sebastian Queißer

Thanks for your help. Thanks to yours suggestions I solved my current problem. I've something like this: 1. A main page template that get the values and call a Python Script 2. A Python Script that query a database (calling another script). Then I have the result of the query in a variable. Then my script call another page template to do the rendering of the result. 3. A page template to render the results of the query (so I need to pass the variable with the result of the query). All yours suggestion worked, but I needed to include a line in my script before calling the final page template: contest.REQUEST.set('value',query_result) ... and then everything worked. I'm not sure this is the right way to do it, I'm just starting with zope, Any other comments? Newbie to Zope

Hi I am a Newbie to zope. I am interested in working in zope and have been involved in work related with Pythonscripts and PostgreSql and Page Templates. I have become stuck at a point and I am not able to find what to do next. I am using a python Script to run a ZSQL method and then the values are to be sent to the Page Template to be displayed.The Script is: from Products.PythonScripts.standard import html_quote r = context.ond.db.zqll_clin # this is a zsql method in a different folder at root for x in r: print x['Id'],x['Name'],x['tt'] # these are the fields of the table return r The error message I get is Error Type: KeyError Error Value: 0 Am i not being able to get the record set from the database?Because if I give a print command in the loop it does not work.HEnce it may not be entering the loop.What is the method to access a Zsql Method which is another folder? If there is someone who could help me out here it would be very helpful.Since i am stuck with this problem for 2 days and I have tried other possibilities.
