Geoff Davis and I are trying to start a Zope/Python User Group in the Research Triangle area of North Carolina. At the moment, we'd like to keep things very informal. Just a bunch of Pythonistas meeting once a month to share knowledge and listen to someone give a presentation on some aspect of using/hacking/learning Zope, Python, or Jython. The direction the group takes and the topics that are presented will depend heavily on the interest of those who will actually be attending. Newbie: namespace in DTML-methods

This is the contents of a DTML-method, defined in the root-folder : <dtml-with expr="PARENTS[1-]"> <dtml-in expr="SQL.sqlmViewComments(com_object=com_object, com_object_id=com_object_id)">  </dtml-in> </dtml-with> When called in a DTML-document in a sub-folder below the root-folder I get an error saying "global name 'PARENTS' not defined". Calling the method from the root-folder or testing it using the ZMI produces no such error. The purpose is to have a DTML-method I can use site-wide that uses SQL-methods in a folder called SQL located in the root-folder. This is sort of a follow-up to my earlier question, "Newbie: One location for SQL-methods site-wide". I've tried some of the proposed solutions, like http://www.zopelabs.com/cookbook/1003151229, but, as said above, it works fine using it in the root-folder, not in sub-folders. I've also tried to pass the PARENTS-variable as an argument to the DTML-method with no luck. It seems as if the namespace is different in the DTML-method and the DTML-document that use it. How can I pass on required variables to the method to get it to work site-wide? Thanks for all your help so far :-) Best regards, Thomas

Page Template --> tal:repeat

I need to do something like this <tr tal:repeat="row python:range(value)"> But value come from another template with a form. I always have the same error: Error Type: TALESError Error Value: exceptions.NameError on global name 'value' is not defined in '', at line 14, column 5 I don't know how to solve this. I want to iterate over a sequence produced by a python script, but I can't pass an argument to the script that came from a form in another page. Thanks for any help Cristian

Returning lists from python back to dtml

Hi, I must admit I'm relatively new to both python and Zope but have a problem which I can't find the solution to in the (easy-to-reach) documentation. A lot has been written about passing data from dtml to python scripts, but not much in the other direction. I have no problems returning simple lists, e.g. # getResults return (1,2,3,4,5) ...where the results are returned to a dtml method using something like: <dtml-in "getResults()"> <dtml-var sequence-item> </dtml-in> However, I wish to pass a table of results with 'column names' (in layman's terms), such that I can read the returned results something like... <dtml-in "getResults()"> <dtml-var Column1> <dtml-var Column2> <dtml-var Column3> </dtml-in> So, how do I pass named results from python script to dtml? Thanks for your thoughts. Erik.

In my search for a content management system I ran across CMF which sounds very intriguing. I am new to Zope and CMF. I was able to successfully install both Zope and CMF but as a user I have no clue what to do next. I was able to view everything on the manage page but what next? The CMF install text says: 4. Create a CMF object, join and begin adding content. Is there a walkthrough somewhere on how to create the CMF object? Regards

error_type in Python Script?

Within an except: block, how do I find the type of exception that was raised? In plain Python, it is sys.exc_type. In DTML, it's error_type. I do not see how to get it in a Python Script. I looked for the answer on the Web with no joy. A pointer to where I should have looked will be appreciated. Thank you. --kyler
