ObjectManager and method doc strings

In order to do things like: http://192.168.1.190:10080/tssadmin/objectIds and see the object ids, OFS/ObjectManager.py needs doc strings in the methods that we want to call. It seems that the Zope distribution code doesn't have these doc strings for methods like objectIds, objectItems etc. Is this a security feature or is there another (preferred) way to execute methods like objectIds?

Looking for What's New documents

With each new release of Python there is a very useful "What's new in Python xxx" document. Is there anything similar for Zope? I haven't been paying attention for awhile, and would like an easy way to catch up. The changes.txt contains some hints, but it seems to have several weaknesses: lots of irrelevant info, not enough info on how to use key changes, and it's not clear it has everything. The first example is the new session management. This is referred to in changes.txt, and there is some API documentation. But a little "this is how you use it" would be very helpful. Second, the security framework has changed (I think). __ac_permissions__ is out, SecurityInfo is in. I found a page on the wiki giving a vision statement, and the Zope Dev Guide illustrates its use. The page also describes how the old and the new might interact. First, I have no way of knowing how accurately the "vision statement" reflects what actually got translated into action. Second, I would like to have this information either part of the distribution, or more accessible. And, of course, I wonder what else I've missed.

Odd module import problem for product

I have two sunbox both running os 8, both running Zope 2.3.3, both running python 2.0.1. The product imports several python modules which in turn are initialized as objects but only the top-level module is registered. When you install the product into a folder it initializes the other objects or products. One of the modules cannot be imported on machine 2 but has no problems on machine 1. If the module or class file being imported had syntax errors would the syntax errors show in the zope control_panel under the broken product or would it just simply show the error in the parent product and simply refuse to acknowledge the module giving an import error? I know this is ambiquous but any thoughts on where to start looking as to why it would install on one identical box, identical code and not on the next? I have read somewhere that zope does not take advantage of dual cpus on NT. My default install of 2.4.3 using zserver on NT4 confirms this. Is there a way to put that extra CPU to use? Greg, If you are running on a MS Windows box and if your Python has the MS Windows extensions, you should be able to invoke M$ Word to do the sort of thing you want. You'll find the Python Programming on Win32 to be indispensible. I suspect there are all sorts of hidden gotchas but, in principle, it should work.

OrderedFolders bug

Installed it on zope251 (win) and tried to create instance from the drop down thingy. LoginManager

I'm not sure that this is the right mail forum, but is anybody using LoginManager? We're trying to change from GUF to LoginManager and I'm having some problems with it. I spent forever just trying to get ZPatterns to work right, but that seems like it's installed ok now.
