Dupe checking a list of tuples

Is it possible to remove duplicate records from a list of tuples? Here's a sample of my list. I'd like to make sure a url doesn't occur twice in the list, and delete the offending tuple if it does. [('http://www.news.com/frontdoor/0-1.html?tag=hd_ts', 'CNET'), ('http://www.news.com/shopping/0-1257.html?tag=hd_ts', 'Price comparisons')] I'm sorry if this is elementary, but I'm fairly new to Python and have been pulling my hair out on this one. How to render STX using ZPT?

Hello, I've a small python product. The management screens are all using page templates. Now there needs to be a option to specify one class attribute is in STX format. Is there any easy way to render content using STX rules using ZPT? In Zope startup, is the directiuve "-t 9" equivilent to: "%1 %2 %3 %4 %5 %6 %7 %8 %9" On a fast W2K box, running Zope standalone, with a lot of RAM, what would the optimal number of threads be, for some moderately loaded websites? From whence came <base>?

I have a simple site with two pages /corp/index_html /corp/sub/index_html Both are DTML documents. Both have identical html headers (as far as my eyes can tell). The sub/index_html takex GET arguments, the other does not: /corp/sub/index_html?blah=yep&foo=nope The rendered source for /corp/index_html as seen from the browser has a <BASE> tag I never requested (but really want!) The rendered source for /corp/sub/index_html does not have a <base> tag. This second fact is upsetting. I'd really like to get a <base> tag in there. Aside from manually inserting it, how can I get zope to do whatever magic it did on the first page? Charlie Reiman

initlevel at initialization of product with aq_parent

Hi all, I'm working on a product that renders treemenu's for websites. Now I have to get an initlevel as starting point for my menu. I've tried the following: def __init__(self, id, title='', initlevel=0): """initialize a new instance of SiteNav""" self.id = id self.title = title self.initlevel = self.getInitLevel() def getInitLevel(self): """returns the initlevel""" initlevel = 0 parent = self while 1: if hasattr(parent,'aq_parent'): parent=parent.aq_parent initlevel = initlevel + 1 else: break return initlevel - 1 When I add a SiteNav object (folderish object) and I put a DTMLMethod in it where I call getInitLevel, I get the correct initlevel. But when I ask for initlevel in the DTMLMethod, I get -1. Doesn't the object has a aq_parent at initialization? Is there a way to do this? Thanx! Greetz Nico

dtml-sqlgroup for other SQL actions

I think I've gotten the hang of using the dtml-sqlgroup tags for creating variable queries, so I'm wondering if there are related tags that will work for other SQL functions; specifically, Update. I have a table that can be updated from various forms, and the forms will have different numbers of fields, depending on things like security, etc. I'd like to have a single ZSQL method for this, but since the various fields in an SQL Update command are joined by commas, not ANDs, I'm not sure how this can be done. For example, let's say that the ZSQL method for updating a table called 'People' might have the following arguments: cLast, cFirst, cSSN, cPhoneNum. One form might return just the first name and last name, and the SQL should look like: UPDATE People SET <dtml-sqlvar cLast type="string">, <dtml-sqlvar cFirst type="string"> WHERE <dtml-sqltest cSSN op="eq" type="string"> while a second form might pass just last name and phone number, generating this SQL: UPDATE People SET <dtml-sqlvar cLast type="string">, <dtml-sqlvar cPhoneNum type="string"> WHERE <dtml-sqltest cSSN op="eq" type="string"> and a third might pass 'em all: UPDATE People SET <dtml-sqlvar cLast type="string">, <dtml-sqlvar cFirst type="string">, <dtml-sqlvar cPhoneNum type="string"> WHERE <dtml-sqltest cSSN op="eq" type="string"> So is there something I'm missing? Yes, quite sure. They are both DTML Docs. More experimentation shows that simply creating a dtml document: /test/hello containing text like <html><head> <title>hello</title> </head> <body>Hello</body></html> Won't give me a base tag. So what inserts the base tag? What criteria does it use to make this decision? How to touch session_data without fingerprints???

Hallo, I want to transparently touch the session_data. When I call functions like REQUEST.SESSION.hasSessionData() or getSessionData(create=0) I create the new object in transient object container. Is there any way to avoid it and check if session object exists? Or if not - how to delete only my session object from container? I can use external functions if necessary. All the fuss is about counting logged users. I want to limit that number, and I do it by counting the number of session objects - already done. The problem is that I can't check the number without increasing it :( Maybe there is other way. Pawel Lewicki
