Thanks Jerome, My Zope server is running on a Windows platform. After adding the following entry in z2.py (assuming this is the right place to do so)... ZSESSION_TIMEOUT_MINS=180 And restarting the Zope WinNT service, the Transient Object Container's timeout value is still set to 20 mins?! ZPT DTML-tree?

I'm still newbie-ish, and been lurking for a while...I just got a domain name, and through hn.org, I've got it set up with a vanity account for my-name.hn.org, which points to my-name.com, since I'm on a dynamic ip through my dsl provider. The problem is that when I try to connect through www.my-name.com or my-name.com, zope times out on me, but only after I try to log in: I get to the "Welcome to Zope!" page, but when after I login, I never see the /manage page because of the timeout. This does not happen when I go to my-name.hn.org/manage or if I do localhost/manage or to the ip/manage. Another funky thing that occurs is that I can access other directory pages, such as www.my-name.com/Test but if I attach "manage" to the end of the URL, I get timed out again. :-\ Very odd. Anyone got any ideas? Russell PS. Hello all. I'm trying to run ZODBCA module in my linux box(RedHat 7.3). Get properties from Python code

I have a python script that I'd like to get a property from a page template. What would the code look like to do that? I've tried context['page.html'].properties['redirect'], context['page.html'].properties.getProperty('redirect'), and can't find anything in the docs that indicate how to do something like that... Or, even better this is what I want to do -> When someone goes to a members only page, check if they're logged in, if so display the page, otherwise redirect them to the login form. After they login, I want to redirect them back to the page they originally wanted. I'm NOT using the CMF, so I have to do logins, auth, and all that jazz myself. -jim

Hi again, First of all I'd like to thank those who've been trying to help me. Unfortunately it hasn't been successfull so far. So, here's an update on the current status. Maybe you'll find more info to help me out. :-) When I wrote my first mail (see below) this was how START.BAT looked like: * Trying offline with no NIC installed, see attachment: no_nic_offline.txt * Trying online with no NIC installed, see attachtment: no_nic_online.txt And my hosts.sam file looked like this (still does), see attachment: hosts.txt After your tips I tried several but --as you already understood-- without success. So, I got myself a NIC and installed it. It was recognized by Win98 and drivers were installed. Now I tried to login offline again but unluckily again without success. This is how START.BAT looked like: with_nic_offline.txt Other settings etc.: * Windows 98 SE * Computername: POPEYE * Browser: Ms Internet Explorer 4.5 * Zope version: 2.5.1 * Zope superuser: StJohnHospital NB: Everytime I tried to login, I used all of the following addresses: * http://localhost:8080/manage * http://popeye:8080/manage * http://127.0.0.1:8080/manage * http://StJohnHospital:8080/manage Hopefully this leads to solving my problem! My problem At home I've installed Zope (2.5.1) on my computer (Win98). No errors occured during installation. So, just like at work I tried to login to Zope for the first time, but... When I start the START.BAT, my computer starts a dial-in to my internetprovider! It seems this occurs when START.BAT is trying to retrieve my hostname. When START.BAT is finished, I type in... * http://127.0.0.1:8080/manage (START.BAT comes up with 127.0.0.1 as localhost and 8080 as port) * http://popeye:8080/manage or http://popeye:8021/manage (popeye is the computername in my Win98 network-settings and START.BAT comes up with popeye as localhost for port 8021) * http://localhost:8080/manage (should always work, right? Not!) * http://stjohnhospital:8080/manage (stjohnhospital is the superuser I installed Zope with) ... but none of them works!!! All that happens is that my browser (MsIE) when I'm offline shows me that the page cannot be found and when I'm online it shows me either "server error" or "page not found". >:-(( NB: It doesn't matter wether I login to my internprovider or not. I'm quite sure it's nonesense to be online in order to login to a local Zope-server, but hey, I've tried everything possible (as far as I know). I also tried to un- and reinstall Zope, but that didn't work either. :-( So please, help me out here!!! (In a short while I've got some days off and I want to do some work for the website at home.) storage space used by a folder

Hi all, Does anyone know how to determine the disk space usage for all the Zope objects in a particular folder (and in its subfolders, etc.)? I'd like an easy way to find out / let my virtual hosting clients know how much disk space they're using. Obviously, I could recursively add up the sizes of all the images within a folder and its subfolders, and I could go a step further and add up the lengths of any text contents in contained DTML documents and methods, then property values ... then the names of custom properties ... but it just seems like there should be a better way. I don't remember coming across anything like this, though. I tried searches on the Zope site and the Zope cookbook site (as well as this list's archives), but as you know, it's hard finding something when you don't know what it's called... I sent this question to the iMeme users' list and got two pretty good suggestions: 1) Use a product called QuotaFolder, which, based on what I've read about it, adds a get_size() method to various Zope base classes, then calls that method on all objects contained in a folder. This is pretty good (thank you for creating, ivo), but it admittedly doesn't take into account revisions, properties, etc. Also, it makes me wonder whether there's already a more thorough equivalent to "get_size()" already in Zope, that I could call. There should be, shouldn't there? The final worry is that it might be difficult to integrate with my existing product, but this may not be an issue now that I think of it - I'll have to try it to find out. Anybody care to report experience with QuotaFolder? 2) Export the folder, then look at the size of the resulting file. This is something I might actually try (since I'm thinking of automatically backing up my virtual domains this way anyway), but it seems that there should still be a better way. So, how about it, zopistas? Is there a nice, clean way to find the amount of storage space consumed by all the objects within a particular folder? Is there a method to get the total storage used by any ObjectManagerItem-derived object? If not, is something in the works? Many thanks, AM Thanks, AM
