hi, I need to fetch data from a Oracle-DB. I've got DCOralce2, but it complains about some Oracle-Clients [ORACLE_HOME] not installed. My problem: I don't have these clients for linux and can't find them on the net. I am pleased to announce a new release of StarRave, to coincide with the installation on the undisputed king of rave related internet services hyperreal.org This is a big step for StarRave (and zope)... Being that this machine is run by legendary Brian B. (apache, collab.net, etc...) Hi *, This defaults itself back to 20 minutes everytime the Zope server is restarted? Is it possible to change this default value, so I can resolve this problem everytime the Zope server is restarted? Cheers, Michael

Data aggregation within a tree

Hello all-- My application has two custom objects types (one of them is folderish). I'm trying to add a view to the folderish object that'll aggregate statistics information on the lower-levels of the tree. Specifically, I'd like a flavor for how to do the following: traverse a tree w/o rendering it test an object's type if an object is a specific type: update counters appropriately based on the internal state of the object render the results Since I only want to traverse the tree (not render it), am I correct in presuming dtml-tree isn't my friend in this case and I'll need to work in straight Python instead? total "hits" in dtml-in?

Hello, I've just put together my first Zope/MySQL database search interface. Gosh that's cool. However, I have a question. Obviously. How can I get the _total_ number of returned results for a <dtml-in> statement (not the number in the current batch)? This is probably so obvious that it's staring me in the face, but I can't find it anywhere. I even tried (quickly) perusing some source code, but maybe I was looking in the wrong place. My main reference has been the Zope book, another Zope book, and searching the web site. I know about the cool dtml-in variables like previous-sequence-start-index, next-sequence-size, etc., but I want to be able to state on my results form "records 21-40 of X shown" - how do I gracefully get X? I know I could do a len() of the query, but that seems like a bad idea because the database would essentially get queried twice - once to get the len, and once to create the <dtml-in> list. Right? Am I missing something? Of course I am. Any help would be much appreciated. Yours, Am

Getting all images in the ZODB 'out' into Apache-land?

Hi all, Hopefully the subject gives you the gist. I have a really good group of guys here who have been squirreling away images into the ZODB. Many images. Sometimes big images. All over the ZODB. I wish to save them from themselves and have these images made available via Apache :) Can anyone give me a clue how I might do this? The images are all over the place - I'd like to extract them into an external directory structure that I'll plop into Apache. They can then use a judicious combination of the Replace product (great product!) and old fashioned sweat to get the img src="" stuff sorted out. ANNOUNCE: Pound - reverse proxy and load balancer - v0.6

This is to announce the release of Pound v0.6. Changes from previous version: - added the possibility of using separate backend server(s) by URL type. - moved all configuration options to a file - what with the creeping featuritis the flags were getting too complex. - some minor bug fixes. What is Pound (from the Web page) - a reverse-proxy: it passes requests from client browsers to one or more back-end servers. - a load balancer: it will distribute the requests from the client browsers among several back-end servers, while keeping session information. - an SSL wrapper: Pound will decrypt HTTPS requests from client browsers and pass them as plain HTTP to the back-end browsers. - an HTTP/HTTPS sanitizer: Pound will verify requests for correctness and accept only well-formed ones. - an HTTP/1.1 to 1.0 proxy. - a fail-over-server: should a back-end server fail, Pound will take note of the fact and stop passing requests to it until it recovers. - a request redirector - it will pass client requests to separate groups of servers, based on required URL (pattern matching) For further information, download, etc. please see http://www.apsis.ch/pound The software is at version 0.6 (beta quality).
