Hi there, I found following zope errors on the "zope startup" python screen. Though the zope apps work well, I want to know what happened base on these errors. Complete data loss - help please

Hi all, As part of an effort to get Zope and Apache playing together, I made some changes to my setup. I moved Zope's port from 80 to 8080 and gave it /tmp/zope.soc as a socket as opposed to just -w 80. Being a bear of little brain, I couldn't make the proxy stuff work. I changed everything back. And suddenly it was like a fresh installation, with no way to login. Couldn't login at all. Reran zpasswd. Zope restarts. I login. My ACL user list is empty as are two test sites I was using to learn zope. Actually empty isn't the right word - they are completely gone. One of them had a lot of stuff in it I don't have copies of anywhere else. Where is my content gone? Surely moving port doesn't result in total data loss? What do I need to do to see it again? Help please! Patrick

Using Python Script to move objects from one directory to another

I am attempting to use a file management button to move objects from one directory to another. Currently I am using a submit button which passes to a dtml method which passes the object id to the python script which cuts and pastes the object to the correct spot. For some reason this does not work. The DTML method is as follows: <dtml-if release_box> <dtml-in release_box> <dtml-let temp=sequence-item> <dtml-call expr="archive_items(release_box = temp)"> </dtml-let> </dtml-in> </dtml-if> <dtml-call "RESPONSE.redirect('manage_main')"> Where the variable release_box represents a set of checkboxes. The python script is as follows: cb_copy_data = context.manage_cutObjects(ids=[release_box]) return context.archive.manage_pasteObjects(cb_copy_data) with the parameter list being: release_box If you have any idea what might be wrong, let me know - Alex

Using <dtml-in> to view multiple object types

I am attempting to use the dtml-in tag to view two different types of objects, but am having trouble getting these to display for some reason: This is the code that I am currently using: <dtml-in expr="objectValues('Press_Release') or objectValues('Press_Release_Link')"> </dtml-in> But this is only outputting the Press_Release object and not the Press_Release_Link type. What are the changes that I need to get this to work correctly? - Alex

How to get name of calling DTML or script..

I have a python script which needs to redirect the browser to the page that called the script. In other words, if I am on the a page called "test" and I call a script named "blah", I want the blah script to do the following (among other things): ... context.request.RESPONSE.redirect(x) where x is the name or URL of the page that called the script. Make sense? Any ideas? Kevin

Searching catalog via substring

Hi, I have got a ZCatalog, named "catalog" and 2 automatically-mady-by-zope-DTML-methods "search" and "report". The "search"-form submits the variable "title" to "report" which <dtml-in>s over the catalog. For example: http://server.domain.com/report?title=something So far, so good. When the title contains "something" as a word, the object is found. What I would like to do is automatically searching with "*" concatenated to the beginning and to the end of the searchstring, so the object "something" is found when the user enters only "some" or "thing". Can anyone point me to the right direction? Many thanks in advance. Lars Reineke

Strange error with Photo Product

A work in progress using Zope 2.5.1 incorporates Photo 1.2.3. The use is what one would expect. There's a Photo Folder which holds Photos. In my case, the Photo Folder was constructed through the ZMI. Photographs are uploaded from the web using a <input type=file ...> form. The action for the form is a python script that creates a Photo object in the Photo Folder using the passed-in File Object. The form action calls container.manage_addProduct.manage_addPhoto(id,title,file,.. ) which apparently executes correctly, up to a point. Here "container" is the Photo Folder object. The Photo object is constructed and stored in the Photo Folder. BUT, after creating and string the Photo in the Photo Folder, Zope raises a key error on the File Object variable. The traceback isn't very helpful at localizing the error. Zope Error Zope has encountered an error while publishing this resource. Error Type: KeyError Error Value: the_file ... File /var/zope/lib/python/Products/PythonScripts/PythonScript.py, line 302, in _exec (Object: photo_upload) (Info: ({'script': <PythonScript instance at 8b70a88>, 'context': <Folder instance at 8d91b60>, 'container': <Folder instance at 8d91b60>, 'traverse_subpath': []}, (), {}, None)) File Script (Python), line 8, in photo_upload File /var/zope/lib/python/AccessControl/ZopeGuards.py, line 90, in guarded_getitem File /var/zope/lib/python/ZPublisher/HTTPRequest.py, line 847, in __getitem__ KeyError: (see above) File Protections for the Photo Folder allow anyone to Add or change Photos (at the moment). So, I'm at a loss to know where and how this happens. The logic of the Photo Product defers the actual insertion, but it appears to function by value (that is, the data is saved, not the object that contains it). Help much appreciated.

horrible ZCatalog kludge

O.k., so I want to know how to get a list of all objects in a ZCatalog for which some variable has a non-null value. A star (*) by itself doesn't work, so how to do it? ZODB Conflict, Thunked_TM and transaction hoseups

I have an irritated customer whose data driven zope website is screwing up, seemingly due to ZODB Conflicts on StyleSheet. Description: Zope 2.5.1 binary on linux Interbase, gvibDA Page Templates Use PageTemplates and lots of javascript with xml-rpc requests to pythonscripts to interace through ZSQL methods to talk to interbase via gvibDA. I also use SQLDict, maintaining a pool of SQLDict instances (they're expensive to create) in a Queue (stored in an external method) After pulling an SQLDict from the queue, I attach a gvibDA connection to sqldict by calling the Interbase DA object (to get a db instance), then (from an external method) I call db._register() and then use the connection object from that thread. This works rather well. However, as soon as I get a ZODB conflict, all subsequent transactions fail. That is, I am unable to alter the back-end (interbase) database at all. It's as if every single transaction after that point gets a permanent _rollback(). I have no idea why I'm getting conflicts on ZStyleSheet. I even tried creating a cached DTML method that caches the stylesheet, then serving that. But, why am I getting a conflict error in the first place? It makes no sense. . Just like getting conflicts on helpsys.
