Python script calling environment

I have this situation: root | |- actions (Folder) | |- action_1 (Script) | |- activity (Folder) |- aScript (Script) => running this script |- actions (Folder) |- action_2 (Script) If in aScript I call container.actions.action_1(), testing the script I get: Error Type: AttributeError Error Value: action_1 I expected that, if "actions.action_1" was not found in "activity", it was searched in the parent folder of "activity", and so on up to the top of the tree. Is this a simple limitation rule, or there is a deeper reason? As an alternative, is there a way to "inherit" in "activity/actions" the scripts contained in "root/activity"? p.t.

DTML sql construction and IN keyword

I'm writing some DTML to create a SQL query which uses the IN keyword. I need to select a set of records with a particular set of record IDs, like so: SELECT * FROM tablename WHERE id IN (42,27,83); I'm constructing the list of ids externally, so that I pass in an idlist as a string: '42,27,83'. My DTML looks something like this: 'select * from tablename where id in \ (<dtml-sqlvar idlist type="string">)' Now, clearly this isn't working because it's generating SQL with quotes in wrong places, like: SELECT * FROM tablename WHERE id IN ('42,27,83') I'm assuming that I can't simply pass in a list of integers to my SQL method; what's the right way to do this? srl -- Shane Landrum (srl AT boston DOT com) Software Engineer, boston.com

dtml-tree items filtering

Hi, i'm trying to solve this thing: i'm building a sitemap. i have folders, that i want to show, and want to hide the others. to differentaite them, i leave the title string empty for those folders i need to hide. i used: <dtml-tree sort=title> <dtml-if "id != 'acl_users'"> <dtml-if "title!=''"> <A HREF="&dtml-absolute_url;" target=right> <IMG border=0 SRC="<dtml-var icon>"><dtml-var title></A> </dtml-if> </dtml-if> </dtml-tree> but having a folder with no title and a subfolder in it, the above gives me the expand-plus-sign in the tree (but show no icon) for that folder. can someone help? regards -dm

calling SQL methods from Scripts(Python)

I thought they would behave as a variation on methods, but they don't seem to find the keyword parameters. For example, I have a query on a single key request = container.REQUEST RESPONSE = request.RESPONSE container.PhotoUpdate(context,request, user_id='STUD00001' ) return 0 where PhotoUpdate is a simple SQL query object. I thought the call would be the same as for a DTML-method, but I suspect now I am wrong. What's the correct form.

Zope Scaling (and Groups of Users)

To all- Two questions: 1. Zope/ZEO Scaling. I spent several hours over the past 3 days reading about Zope scalability with ZEO. I am now looking for numbers. Two questions (nearly one and the same) which I did not find answered: a. How well does ZEO scale in DATA SIZE (not availability). i.e. How many items can I have in a folder? How many users/objects can it handle? b. Numbers. There were no specific configuration numbers which I found. How many objects? How many users? How much data? I'm looking to be able to handle at least 40,000 user objects and a similar number of other larger data objects of various sizes (2k - 20k+). Users could be pushed off to an ldap server or some other environment via the LoginManager Mod etc, however I would still have 40,000 user folders in a single folder. Much of my application is of course generate once, serve a million times, but almost all objects can expect regular changes. Currently I have implemented the bulk of my objects in an SQL database which I am serving through a Zope front end. A pure Zope object setup however offers some conveniences over my setup in terms of possibly simpler access controls and, if ZEO lives up to it's claim, simpler scalability. I would be interested in hearing users comments towards ZEOs ability to scale Zope and any specific numbers from various Zope/ZEO setups. Numbers from single Zope Installs are also very welcome. 2. Groups. I have also written my own Authentication system built off of an SQL database to accommodate for groups, and group based access controls. I have read the documentation on Zope3's plan for Groups of principles, however seeing as Zope3 has not even released a build yet I believe I will need to roll my own in this area. I have done some google searching but not found any other Zope modules to handle group based authentication. If anyone knows of such a module I would be very interested in knowing more. Hi, I am facing with some prolem with zope security. I will tell u what i am trying to do. I just started poking around with it, but has anyone done anything with WebServices, WSDL, etc. and Zope and Python? More and more is showing up daily for web services and it would be nice to easily connect to them via Zope and/or Python scripts. Thanks -Allen
