Yep, the code is as shown below. If admin creates the folder in the management screen, 'folder' gets chosen from the 'Select Type To Add' drop down box. If other users add a folder, I go to the 'folder contents' area then choose 'New' and add a folder. Here is what I mean by description field. If I again go to the 'folder contents' area then choose 'New' and add a 'folder', I need to fill in an ID for that folder and click the 'add' button. On the next screen, the user can fill in the 'title' and 'description' for that folder. This is the description field I am talking about. Thanks! Returning a list of dictionaries from an external method yields "Loop over non-sequence" when tested

I've got a simple external method that returns a list containing dictionaries. If I run it from python it works fine, imported and used in Zope it raises an exception "Loop over non-sequence". The script extracts some data from a table, containing the results from a parsed logfile, created by the game Counter-strike ( if you're interested ). I'm no expert in SQL ( as the code below probably shows ) but doing it in Python is no match ( even if the code is verbose and perhaps a bit inefficient. Tips and clues are appreciated if you can make anything out of it ). I import the method in Zope, calling it PlayerStats, from the module CSPlayerStats. The file itself is the Extensions-folder under the Zope main-folder. Try to test it in the ZMI and the error pops up. Sounds like you should look at writing an external method (look at the various popen commands in python) and trigger that from Xron. Or even just plain cron. XML - Setting Object Security Universally?

This is more on the stuff that I posted earlier about the External Methods.... Looking at XMLParse and such, a document already has to exist, and I want to be able to pass XML through a variable and have it processed, so therefore I am using an *external method*. However, by the way that it is set up, each object is within an object, e.g. UserRequest has a RequestHeader object in it and so forth. I can extract it just fine, but I find that each object is not a subobject. Install gcc? What system are you running on? You need to install two things -- the python adaptor for MySQL and the zope adaptor. In a linux environment I just followed the instructions at Zope.org and everything came up neatly. With other environments, YMMV. I use MySQL-python-0.9.1. and ZMySQLDA-2.0.8 both distributed as tarballs. You do have to compile some C code--hence the need for gcc. Can't paste or rename some objects

When I try to rename or paste a folder object, I get this error: Error Type: Bad Request Error Value: The id "Pictures" is invalid--it is already in use. Here's the folder structure / Cactus (Folder) AloeVera (CustomPlantProduct) Pictures (PhotoFolder) pic1.gif (Photo) pic2.gif (Photo) Tags (PhotoFolder) tag1.gif (Photo) tag2.gif (Photo) I am trying to either rename Cactus folder to CactusOld or (preferably) copy/paste it to another folder in the site. Object permissions in External Methods

I'm not quite sure how to do this, and the documentation that I have been browsing through hasn't been all that helpful, so I hope someone out here can help me with this seemingly simple situation. I want to read an XML file (currently read as a textfile, but will be passed as a parameter) and then change it into a Python Object where one can then dtml-in through the Heirarchy of the Document... this is what I have... -- import gnosis.xml.objectify as xp from AccessControl import ClassSecurityInfo from Acquisition import Implicit import Globals def xml_to_py(self): object = xp.XML_Objectify('/tmp/sample.xml') returning = object._PyObject return (returning) -- Whenever I run this, I keep getting an unauthorized error with no acceptable login correcting this. I've run into this before, but it was only fixed when I redefined an object that I have created before, not something that is pushed out from a library like this. Suggestions?
