I too am experiencing the same roadblock. The product is quite simple - I have one class, and it derives from CatalogAware and ObjectManager. It has a few string properties, and a view. If I try to create an object in the same folder as the product, it works. The same user, however, cannot create the object in a different part of the folder hierarchy. Where would I look to check "Create ZClass Instance" permissions? Or perhaps you have solved this problem already? Everything seems to be fine. You are sure, your ZClass is named "tbContainer"? You are sure, the "Create ZClass instance" permission is mapped to some permission, the current user has? If I'm using a whole page macro, here seems to refer to the object containing the macro rather than the object using the macro. If I'm trying to construct a <title/>, I'd like to do something like this: $site : $page E.g., foo.com : about But if I do this: <title tal:content="python:'%s : %s' % (container.title_or_id(), here.title_or_id())"></title> both of these resolve to---oops, now I suspect I've found a bug. Both of them resolve to the title or id of the Root folder. I wonder if this is because I'm using a VirtualHostMonster? /Root (title: foo.com) master_html index_html In the above scenario, I get <title>foo.com : foo.com</title>. // mark -

ZSQL field problem

Hi, All. I have a form that allows a user to edit a table with a date field. The user should be able to 'null' the date field. I'm using a ZSql method similar to this (very simplified): update sometable set (birthday = <dtml-sqlvar birthday type="string">) where username = 'someuser'; If the user cleared the text input field for the birthday, I'd like to have it say: set birthday = null where username = 'someuser'; But all I get is: set birthday = 'None' where username = 'someuser'; Any suggestions? new External Methods not recognized

Summary: Cannot access new External Methods, olds ones OK. (Zope 2.5.1 (binary release, python 2.1, win32-x86), python 2.1.3, win32) Problem: I have tried correlating this any way I can, but it still doesn't make sense. I can redefine the old methods to use new functions. I can create and test new External Methods. What I can't do is call any methods from DTML using newly created ExternalMethods. This generates a name error. There is only one user to the system (me) and no changes that I know of have been made to any security aspects. Other: So fundamentally, even though the External Method is created OK (the process says everything went fine), it doesn't make it to a point that DTML will recognize it. I can point the old ones (ExternalMethods) to any function I want and they will work. The only thing (more likely a red herring) I can think of that happened was adding the XML module (the images are missing in the docs, btw). Other than that, can't think of anything that changed. I re-read the docs and hunted around the Web and haven't found a solution there yet. I tried comparing all the properties and anything else I could find between the old and new ones. Didn't find anything. I have tried shutting down and restarting the server and even the PC. Any help as to how to go about getting new methods accepted are appreciated. I hacked z2.py

xhanging HTTP_whatever to 80 from 8080, and restarted my server after renaming z2.pyc out from under. now I can access the server at port 80, but I can no longer log in to my masnage page.

Dieter, Thanks for your reply. Direct Traversal is very limited - it works only for ZSQL method that returns one record. It is just a hack It returns a Record object, not even a Results: query/1 and query?ID=1 return diffent things. I could probably attach a Brain to a ZSQL method to merge data but I think that would be solving th problem from the wrong angle. The solution I am looking for would make data in the Zope Folder and data in the database (or other source) appear in the same way to ZMI and to scripts.
