Wrapping ZSQL method for XML-RPC access

So, thanks to the archives, I see that ZSQL methods need to be wrapped to get at them via XML-RPC. Modifying a snippet from a previous post, I got the following Python Script: -------Begin script------------------- items=[] names = context.getSalesmen().names() for item in getSaleman(): new_dict = {} k=0 while k < len(item): new_dict[names[k]] = item[k] k=k+1 items.append(new_dict) return items --------End script----------------- this gives me what I need for the "getSalesmen" ZSQL method. But I would like to use the script with any ZSQL Method. So, i will need to pass in two parameters - the first a ZSQL Method name, and the second, a list of parameters. Problem is, I don't know how I would go about building and executing the statement: for item in getSalemen(): if all I have is the string "getSalesmen" ? exec(), eval() ... TIA

I also only seem to get it using IE5 (as it happens in OS X). The first line does indeed get replaced with a random string of characters (which panics me especially if that first line is a DTML tag!). First I thought this was down to me testing my dreamweaver DTML extension, but it looks like its a common thing. We have had a re-occuring issue of IE on the mac loosing the characters from the bottom of a DTML method or document. This we managed to work out was because of the limit of characters in an multi-line input box in IE (in classic). So we resorted to editing using a PC for a while. For some reason IE in OS X doesn't have this (or maybe I have not used a long enough document yet!). [I have not tested it thoroughly to know if this only happens with IE or not, so I can't be 100% sure on that.] If it happens I tend to use Mozilla on OS X, which hasn't (as yet) caused this problem to occur. Jo -- Which version of python are you using? As I remember, from traffic here and on on of the python lists, python 2.1 had a memory leak which was fixed in 2.1.3. Apparently, it was found because Zope triggers it.

problem in using Zcatalog

Tip: huge memory leak fixed (dtml and pythonscript)

Hello everybody, after much gnashing of teeth and pulling out of hair we finally seem to have found the error in our ways. What we were doing led to a massive memory leak and I thought I'd let everbody know so you know what to avoid. Our setup is something like <dtml-document or method> calls <pythonscript> and <pythonscript> calls <restrictedTraverse> for some given <path>. The resulting <object> is then used to render some content and the resulting data is returned. Here comes the warning: If you don't explicitly set the <object> obtained by <restrictedTraverse> to <None> (maybe you could <del> it instead just as well) this <object> will be leaked with any <subobjects> instantiated along the way, namely a <ImplicitAcquirerWrapper> and (in our case) a <DateTime>. Hope this helps someone somewhere. VirtualHostMonster Logging Question

Hi, can anyone explain how to get an enhanced VirtualHostMonster, on a standalone Zope 2.5.1 server, to write each virtual host name to the Z2.log, rather than just the IP or name of the server itself. I have several virtual hosts set up using VirtualHostMonster Mappings, this way: www.site1.org/http/site1.org www.site2.org/http/site2.org Which works fine, i.e. the viewer is redirected correctly. The Z2 log ends up looking like this, no matter which site is viewed: nnn.nnn.nn.nnn - anonymous [16/Jul/2002:14:09:13 -0600] "GET /http/site1.org HTTP/1.1" 302 475 "http://nnn.nnn.nn.nnn/http/nmjpec.org/" "Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 6.0; Windows NT 5.0; Q312461)" Where the n's are an IP number, which I want replaced with the name of the virtual site, i.e.: www.site1.org. Zclatalog : Creating Z Class without access to the root folder

creating a python function callable within zope

I have created a python based zope product for the cmf which is working ok. I would like to create a function that belongs in the same .py file as the product class but the function will not be a method of a class instance. I want to be able to call this function from anywher within zope to do something related to the product class but not an instance of that class. I assume the function "def function( self ): etc..." is placed outside of the class statement in the .py file but I cannot work out what I need to do to be able to call it in zope, or if it's possible or wise to do. At the moment I have this function written in a zope "python script". Or am I supposed to make it an external method? Hope that makes sense as I'm still trying to get my head around this class,instance,method,function thing! Any ideas or help on where I am going wrong would be much appreciated. (Running zope 2.5.1 / python 2.1.3 / win2000) Thanks Steve.
