problem: zope freezes with httplib

hi! we have a problem with a project where zope retrieves web pages from another http server using httplib. the problem is, that at least in some cases Zope freezes until a request is completed (the whole process, all threads). we believe it could be a problem with the threads, however we have no approach to solve this problem. here are the infos: Zope Version (Zope 2.4.1 (source release, python 2.1, linux2), python 2.1.1, linux2) Python Version 2.1.1 (#3, Jan 24 2002, 17:10:04) [GCC 2.96 20000731 (Red Hat Linux 7.1 2.96-98)] System Platform linux2 running with ZServer ciao, basti -- Sebastian Lühnsdorf beehive KG sfl(a)beehive-eu.com

Where are default/build-in system methods?

Hi all, I have problem with codepage. I have set "Lang" property in z2.py, it works OK with codepage sensitive methodl like StructuredText. But I need to set codepage in manage_edit and other pages (all :-) that string in head section: <head> ... <meta http-equiv="Content-Type" content="text/html; charset=windows-1250"> ... </head> Do you know where these default build-in methods are? I cannot find it in Zope directory, nor in Zope Root. Many thanks, J. Lukesh

Zope won't start

I have installed zope on Mandrake 8.2 from rpms. The docs say to start zope with "etc/rc.d/init.d/zope start" and when I do this from the command line it says OK. But zope does not really start. I can't connect to zope from my browser and if I do "etc/rc.d/init.d/zope stop" it fails because it was never runnung in the first place. Does anyone know what the problem might be? Thanks, SW

FTP defaults, overloading, or monkeypatching?

Hi All, I've implemented a replacement image object that I would really like to be the default on my site. I've thought of a few different approaches, and would like to see if there's any wisdom out there on which might be the easiest (or perhaps safest?) approach: 1 FTP defaults Can I change what product class is used to load image data when it is "put" from the FTP interface? I'm not sure how it decides this, but when I upload images they always appear as plain Zope images. This would probably be the most convenient solution, even though it won't do much about the ZMI upload (but I can use permissions to make the custom image easier to find), and, of course, it won't fix existing image instances (but that's a temporary problem). 2 Overloading Could I overload the product class with my product? E.g., could I just change "meta_type" to image in my product and have it clobber the plain Zope image? Sounds scary, but maybe possible. 3 Monkeypatching This would probably be the least convenient approach -- start with Image and overload all its methods. However, this is the only method I've actually seen in use. Opinions? Thanks! xmlrpc and fastcgi on IIS

Hi, I have tried to use xmlrpc on fastcgi zope support at IIS. I think IIS doesn't pass correct headers to zope, so Zope understand the xmlrpc request as html request. I decided to use xmlrpc request at 8080 port of zope, and html request through IIS. But I was using IIS authentication. So I can't authenticate xmlrpc request. Is there other idea to resolve it? -- Marco Catunda

LFS (large file support)

We're running out of luck We need LFS (large file support) for the Data.fs file Upgraded to RH 7.3, ext3 filesystem, compiled our own python 2.1.3 and build zope 2.5.1 from source Exported all sites from previous zope and imported in new zope to avoid conflict with existing Data.fs but no luck Everytime we want to go over the 2GB limit zope truncates the Data.fs Did we mis some configuration settings?
