I know it seems like I'm the only one in the world who doesn't accept cookies, but recently my boss was having problems cutting and pasting in Zope. He'd done it before, but it had stopped working. It turned out that cookies had been disabled on both of his browsers (not sure how). I tried to explain that Zope used cookies instead of saving selections on the server. It was embarrassing. Anyway...I'm willing to pay a small bounty for someone to get rid of cookie dependency in the management interface. --kyler

Kaivo Document Library customisation?

I've been able to customise a fair amount of the standard Kaivo Document Library product to meet our own needs, but have now hit the limit of my current knowledge and understanding. The author of the product (Casey Duncan) has kindly dropped a few suggestions to me in the past, but I still don't understand how to achieve what he has suggested. What I'm trying to do is automate an email to be sent to the author of a submitted document 6 months afterwards to say "Please re-visit your document". I added 'email' to the DL document properties and the 'document_submit' form, and the 'created_date' is already defined in the DL product. I created a simple 'sendmail' dtml document (using a Mail host object) which automatically sends an email to the librarian (me at the moment!) from the author's email address. This tells me whenever a document has been submitted to the library, so I can go and approve or decline it. Casey's suggestion was to create a dtml method within the Document Library that queries the library for old documents and then sends the author an email. You then use the OS command line utility 'wget' in a script to execute the dtml method periodically via a cron job on the server. We could get the email sent from outside of Zope, but it is probably neater for everything to be done inside and just use 'wget' to run the method automatically. The bare minimum info we need from the document library Document Store object (which is called 'Documents') is 'email', 'review_date', 'filename' and 'title' for each and every document file (word, excel or pdf file) inside it. Trouble is, I don't understand enough about how the DL product works. I know that the 'Documents' Document store object isn't a normal folder but I have no idea where to start on examining it and getting the info out! Richard Hewison

Creating a NeoBoard forum on a Python Script

Hi! I have a DTML document that calls a python script upon post. Somewhere on this python script I want to create a new NeoBoard Forum. What I did was to simply include the following code: context.manage_addProduct['NeoBoard'].manage_addNeoBoard_NB(forum_id, forum_title, forum_desc, 'default', 'MailHost') When I pressed the submit button, which would call the python script, a logon window poped up, asking me for a user/password. Is this some kind of authentication/permissions problem? How can I fix this? kind regards, Vitor Varalonga

REQUEST parameters needed throughout website

The website we are building relies heavily on 'parameters' that are set throughout the site. A value entered in the first form on page 1 must be persisted and retrievable from page 10, or any page for that matter. I have approximately 50 parameters I will have to keep for the life of a user's search. I DO NOT want to use the session to store the parameters in because this will cause problems if a certain course of action is taken. Is it possible for me to carry the REQUEST object from one page to another, while adding, changing, or even deleting some of the values it contains, for the life of a search? This REQUEST object will have to travel in and out of Python scripts, DTML Documents and Methods, and other objects. At certain times, I will want to retrieve one or more of the parameters to use the value or change it. When changed, I will need to place the new value in the REQUEST object. If I don't need a certain parameter in a certain place, I do not want to have to mess with it at all, and still have it remain in the REQUEST object and continue to be avaiable to the next page if necessary. Please understand I am very new to Zope. My company is trying to transition from Java and JSP to Zope and Python. I need to make sure I can handle this situation elegantly before proceeding. Any suggestions will be greatly appreciated. Stacy

OT: In search of a simple redirector for Squid (for virtual hosting)

I've been following Toby Dickenson's how-to on using Squid in front of Zope, and Sean Upton's mail on how he uses pyredir to handle redirections to enable virtual hosting in Zope, and I need some extra help on setting it up in W2K. Has anyone else tried this or used simple python scripts to perform URL rewritings on behalf of Squid? Thanks in advance, Ausum

How to do a tabbed navigation interface with ZPT

Hi all, I've been trying to figure out the best way to do this for a while now, but so far nothing has jumped out at me as being simple and effective. Basically, we want a tabbed navigation interface, so that whichever tab the click on, the resultant page has that tab selected. The tabs are held in a table, and a selected tab is different from a plain tab in the following ways: The text and background colour are different. The images on the left and right side of the text are different. The tabs are arranged like the following: |img|text|img|img|text|img| Where "|"'s delimit table cells. I'm wondering what everyone has in the way of solutions for this. I'm sure there are many people doing this, and I would like to hear about different solutions. Localizer

Hello, I downloaded Localizer and installed it. Version 0.9 didn't work with my Zope 2.5.1 even after I applied the Unicode patches. Therefor I installed 0.8 of Localizer. I tried to follow the Quick Guide on the Localizer Homepage but I bitterly failed. Whenever I install a Localizer object in my folder (with local folders) I am no longer abler to access any other content of that folder, instead Localizer will display it's local folders with some SiteRoot objects. Could anybody please give me a step by step example that works?
