Fiends! I work at a school as a web developer. This school offer some courses for people in general. Courses are separeted in groups, for exemple,java courses, zope coureses, postgres courses an so on. Our wish is to have this courses and gruop of courses available at the portal/web in order to allow people to find them and assin to take one or more courses. The portal should have a place were secretaries could offer this course (put them on the site) and another for people in general where they could list all courses that are being offering, or search for a specific corse (for exemple, introduction for java) or a group of course.It should be more or less like a calendar of courses that are being offering by the school. Does any of you knows some thing like that (Product in zope ) that can be used for me or has any interest to develop one with me? array won't clear

hi again. OK. I tried this to get the files in my directory into an array (even those in the subdirectory). I got the file objects into the array, but i can't seem to clear the array afterwards. so everytime i run the dtml method, the array keeps appending. this is the DTML <dtml-in expr="test_script()" sort="bobobase_modification_time" reverse> <dtml-var id> - <dtml-var bobobase_modification_time fmt="aCommon"><br> </dtml-in> this is test script - i got this from zopelabs. CMS Publishing

Hi, In some CMS we have different environment for Development (Authoring), Staging and Production. The CMS Database that resides in the Development setup is usually more bulky than the database in the production and staging site. Can any body tell me how Zope fits into this situation, is there any component that takes care of this? My major concern is that, it might be that my repository contains huge number of images but actually the site uses only some of them. So when actually deploying a site, the system should resolve those images and put the required files. Thanks Sameer Maggon

copy / past in the Root Folder

I am rather new to Zope. I have a question related to copy and paste in the root folder. I have a user folder (RUSER) with several objects stored in it --some external methods and some sub-folders. Each of the sub-folders has a SiteRoot object, some html files and may have one or more folders. I thought that I might form a copy of the RUSER hierarchy, do some work on it and, given that things still look ok, rename the copy to RUSER. The problem which I seem to be having is this. When I modify files in the copy, the changes are also taking place in the original hierarchy. I suspect that the copy operation is a shallow copy but I am unable to verify this hypothesis. First: is my suspicion correct? Secondly, if I am correct, then is there a way to use the copy and past buttons to perform a deep copy? Should I perhaps do an import/export? ZODB.POSException.ReadConflictError

I get errors like this a lot: Error Type: TALESError file Error Value: ZODB.POSException.ReadConflictError on database read : conflict error (oid 000000000013d150, class BTrees.IOBTree.IOBucket) pic0 in "", at line 48, column 17 I have a script that queries a ZCatalog and returns the list from the query. There are about 2,000 objects cataloged. The objects are ZCatalog aware, so they auto-update the catalog when changed. Whenever this is happening during the query, I get the ReadConflictError. I'm using ZEO on a single machine. I've tried with multiple ZEO clients, but still get the same results. Is there anything I can do in my Product to prevent this from happening? Maybe something else I can configure? Thanks, -Chris

Zclass corrupted, possibly

I'm beginning to suspect that my Zclass that holds all of my stories is somehow corrupt. It's catalog-aware, and I'm having terrible problems searching the catalog and tremendous drags on accessing Zclass instances. I've been banging on this server for about two weeks, and this is the best I can come up with. Is there a good way to create a new zclass and transfer all of my existing instances into it?

Newbie Question: Zope crashing

I have posted in the last few days asking for help formatting a date retrieved from an Interbase db (thanks very much to Kevin Carlson for the help with that). I now have a Python script called convertDate, which takes one parameter, aDate: ############################################################ try: thedate = DateTime(aDate) return thedate.strftime('%d/%m/%Y') except: print "Error on date ", aDate return printed ############################################################ I also have an SQL method called all_dates which is simply: select C_DATE from CALENDAR order by C_DATE Finally, I have a DTML method called list_dates which again is simple: ############################################################ <dtml-var standard_html_header> <table border=1 width="60%" cellspacing=1> <tr><th>Date</th><th>Converted</th></tr> <dtml-in all_dates> <tr> <td width="50%"><dtml-var C_DATE></td> <td width="50%"><dtml-var "convertDate(C_DATE)"></td> </tr> </dtml-in> </table> <dtml-var standard_html_footer> ############################################################ If I dtml-comment out the "convertDate(C_DATE)" output line, the DTML method works fine. I have tried testing the SQL, which works fine. I have tried testing the script using an actual date from the database - retrieved by commenting out the line mentioned, and this returns the date fine. I have checked for rogue/empty C_DATE values in the database, there are none. I have also tested the script using a random text input, and the try..except gave the expected error message. I have tried replacing "convertDate(C_DATE)" with something like "convertDate('2000-01-01 00:00:00.00')" (date format retrieved again from the db in the manner outlined above), and this allows the page to be viewed fine. If I try the DTML method as above, though, Zope stops responding completely. The dataset is by no means large (max 30 entries), and I have allowed it 10 mins before giving up! I am using Zope version 2.5.1 (Python version 2.1.3) on Win 2k. Can anyone help? Make Zope Web site private?

I want to restrict access to my Zope Web site. Our company's new name must be kept secret for some months, even as I create the new Web site in Zope. I need to view the pages as they will appear to anonymous users, but can't risk anyone else seeing them. The Zope server is running on a remote Linux host. The pages that would otherwise be public (e.g. the index_html methods) need to be available only to me for a time. I don't have the expertise to create a special index_html to require a password, but that's something like what I would want. I could play around with the port number, too, but that's tedious and not really a solution. Has anyone solved this problem? Thanks in advance, Jon Whitener Detroit Michigan USA
