ZODB size limitations?

In an effort to put our Zope-based system into production, I ran an import script to pull in historical data external to Zope. At this point we are experiencing some very strange behaviors - seemingly related to traversal of the object tree - that did not occur prior to the import. At this point we have close to 150,000 objects, each containing a handful of metadata and nothing more. A large number of these are folderish. I expect this database to grow much larger in a very short time, providing it does not die a premature death. Our file system is Reiser FS and our ZODB is running on DirectoryStorage, rather than the Data.fs file. I worry that we're pushing Zope beyond its capabilities with this number of objects, but I don't really know. Does anyone have experience with databases of this size? Any ideas on limitations to number of objects the ZODB can comfortably manage, or the size to which the ZODB can comfortably grow?

Problem with Apache 2 and Zope 2.7

Hello, I try to setup a Apache and Zope configuration using RewriteRules. The Zope Server is bound to the IP 127.0.0.1. I've used these expressions inside a VirtualHost block of http.conf. As a first step they should redirect all requests to the VirtualHost to the Zope server: RewriteEngine On RewriteLog "/var/log/httpd/rewrite.log" RewriteRule ^/(.*) http://localhost:8080/$1 [L,P] The client web-browser says: 403 Forbidden Forbidden You don't have permission to access /manage on this server. Apache/2.0.47 (Unix) mod_ssl/2.0.47 OpenSSL/0.9.6g PHP/4.3.2 Server at centershock.net Port 80 When accessing it with http://centershock.net:8080/manage it works perfect. What's wrong? Zope Date format conversion problem

Tips for Zope administrators -- and a compilation?

And with rationale behind each tip? Duh, I'm sure there are such tips, I'm just not sure where they're all hiding. And there doesn't seem to be a "zope-admin" listserv among the plethora of zope lists. I'd be willing to set up something that collects/disseminates such guru-fed tips and discussion, if there's interest among you all for getting them out in the open. Seems the solution should allow discussion to tag on to each posting, to help keep things current (and lively). Thanks, =Paul

Never mind! Figured it out. Everything works. I had not installed the product correctly (I was missing the ZreST folder in Products). Hello All, I've been trying to use the ReST product in Zope with little success. In Zope 2.6.x, after installing ReST, it shows up in the list of products, but not in the drop-down list of products available (as in Zope 2.7). My question: 1. Did I install it properly in Zope 2.6? I have no error messages. 2. How do I use it? In Zope 2.6? In Zope 2.7? TIA. Regards, Samir

Hi, "SecurityGetUser()" was the hint I needed. Thanx a lot! Though I dont't know, why AUTHENTICATED_USER is not available in the context of an ZSQL-method since it is a method of the Zope-defined web request variables: """AUTHENTICATED_USER An object that represents an authenticated user. When inserted into a DTML document, the value is the user name. This object currently provides no public attributes. Note that this variable may not be defined in Documents that are not protected by security information.
