How can I specify the file in the network? I would start by adding the scheme ("file:") to the url. This is essential. If that does not do it, you may need some windows-specific interface code (I seem to remember that localFS needs such code to access network hosts). I do not know any more than that, though. Use Keyword index. Be careful that if the search field is emprty, that index return nothing (empty result) instead of all result. So I had to use a different name in the form and check if it is empty. If so, I copy it in the REQUEST with the right name. ZCatalog and multivalued field

I have an object class in a Product which usually has only one (string) value for particular attribute, but sometimes can have more, which I plan to store as a list of strings. There is no limit to how many of these there could be, although in my present application there would probably not be more than 10. This isn't a problem except that I would like to be able to search a ZCatalog for objects which have a particular value,whether it is a string or an string element of a list. The range of possible values is essentially infinite. I can see how I could use a TextIndex to do this, but I am trying to figure out if there are any other options. I'm building this in 2.7b2 if that makes any difference. Any other ideas? Thanks, Matt Wilbert

Zope content not available

We have a Linux server that is running Apache and Zope for some web content. This server/system was set up some time ago by a person who is no longer at the company. As a further complication, we don't even have anyone on staff anymore who is a capable Linux admin. We have me. I know just enough to be able to make changes to web content, DNS and Firewall, but not true administration of this box or its services. Today the Zope-managed content is not available on the web. I have logged on to the host server and have restarted both Zope and Apache without effect. I know Zope is running because I can FTP to it on Port 8021 and can see the content there. I know this is a very vague request, but can someone help me with where to begin looking for the problem? Any assistance would be much appreciated. Thanks. Rob

When to use trusted-proxy?

Hello, should I set the trusted-proxy in Zope 2.7 to 127.0.0.1 when using Apaches Proxy module? Should I also set it, when using only RewriteRules and no ProxyModule? Thanks, Florian

ANNOUNCE: Pound - reverse proxy and load balancer - v1.5

This is to announce the release of Pound v1.5. Changes in this version: - support for sessions by Basic Authentication: "Session BASIC" parameter added - stringent syntax checking of request. - user-defined request character set(s): new parameters CSsegment, CSparameter, CSqid, CSqval - option to limit the request size: parameter MaxRequest - single log function rather than #ifdefs. - added LogLevel 4 (same as 3 but without the virtual host info). - added HeadRemove directive (allows to delete a header from requests). - location rewriting on redirect (codes 301, 302, 303, 307): the content is changed to reflect the location for Pound rathre than the back-end - some bug fixes and speed improvements The software is at version 1.5 (production quality). Further testing (especially under heavy loads), improvements and suggestions are welcome. What is Pound (from the Web page) - a reverse-proxy: it passes requests from client browsers to one or more back-end servers. - a load balancer: it will distribute the requests from the client browsers among several back-end servers, while keeping session information. - an SSL wrapper: Pound will decrypt HTTPS requests from client browsers and pass them as plain HTTP to the back-end browsers. - an HTTP/HTTPS sanitizer: Pound will verify requests for correctness and accept only well-formed ones. - an HTTP/1.1 to 1.0 proxy. - a fail-over-server: should a back-end server fail, Pound will take note of the fact and stop passing requests to it until it recovers. - a request redirector - it will pass client requests to separate groups of servers, based on required URL and the presence or absence of headers (pattern matching) Pound was specifically developed to serve as a front-end for multiple instances of Zope running on top of a common ZEO storage, but can be used with any other web server. A patch for the Python source of z2.py is available as part of the distribution to allow using Pound's SSL capabilities. Pound is currently in use in several medium to large volume sites and seems to be holding up quite well: largest reported site does about 5.5 million requests per day, peaking at over 450 requests per second. The speed is well superior to other, equivalent solutions, the configuration is much simpler and the necessary resources (CPU, RAM, disk) are much, much lower. Pound is distributed under the GPL. FTP support

Hi again, I have a calendar product (Calendar), a container for CalendarItem. I want the calendar instances to have a folder for template storage, so the user can customize some views of the calendar: calendar_instance | + template_folder | | | + template_1 | + calendar_item_1 | + calendar_item_2 In Calendar.__init__ I do: def __init__(self, id, title = "") : CalendarBase.__init__(self, id, title) # create a folder tmpl = Folder(id='templates') # add it to the calendar self._setObject('templates', tmpl) # add some default "templates" to the folder tmpl.manage_addDTMLMethod(...) My problem is that I can't access the templates folder contents with FTP. With emacs I get a "550 Could not list directory" error. All three classes inherit from SimpleItem.Item, Calendar and CalendarBase inherit from ObjectManager. AFAIK Folder is FTP aware. What I'm doing wrong? copy paste support

Hi, I'm writing a product and I have a little trouble with copy & paste support. My product defines three clases: ZSimpleMenu, ZSimpleMenuItem and ZSubMenuItem. The first one is a container for the other two. The last two have no sense outside a ZSimpleMenu, so I don't want them to be listed on the "global" add list, only on the ZSimpleMenu add list. In order to acomplish this I have registered (registerClass) only ZSimpleMenu, and store on ZSimpleMenu.all_meta_types the meta types of the two Z*Items. all_meta_types = ( {'name': 'Menu Item', 'action': 'manage_addMenuItemForm' }, {'name': 'Submenu Item', 'action': 'manage_addSubmenuItemForm' }, ) This does work, I can add objects as expected, but copy & paste don't work for Z*Items. When I try to copy/paste a ZSimpleMenuItem (id == m0100) within a ZSimpleMenu I get a "The object m0100 does not support this operation" error message. Copy/paste does work from ZSimpleMenu. All three objects inherit from OFS.SimpleItem.Item so I suspect that the problem is related to the way I'm registering the classes. What's the right way to register the Z*Items so I can copy & paste them, and they don't appear on the global add list?
