calling script when adding/removal transient object

Hello, In the transient object container the following option can be specified: 'Script to call when objects are added'. The script to be called is located in the root directory of the zope server. This script contains no errors, takes no arguments and sends an email messages. I've tried specifying this script by acquisition (ie session_script) and by absolute reference (ie /session_script), but neither option works when a new object is added to this t.o.-container. However, in the second case, I'm supposed to be an authenticated user to change my password.

passing browserId value

Hi list, I want to embed the browserId value in every link/button/clickable-item of the p ages in my site, so that users get a sessioned access without using cookies. How can I manage this task without having to manually rewrite the code of the pa ges served by the site? Some pages are the dynamical output of a Zope product call, how can I intercept them, embed the browserId and then serve it to the client? It seems to me that embedding the browserId DYNAMICALLY is the only way to avoid statically re-write a lot of code (error-prone and time-wasting approach), the matter is how! I would prefer not to use JavaScript, only DTML or other Zopish/Pythonish resources. BTreeFolder2 question

Hello, zope users! BTreeFolder2 has generateId method, what will be if two or more zeo clients try to to write to the same folder at the same time, will be uniqueness of ids guaranted? Thanks in advance

Problem with if-modified-since / caching and ExtFile product

Hi all, we are using the ExtFile product in our ZOPE intranet project. All in all its working pretty good (just adding some blah blah sugar) but, we have problems with the caching of the external files that are used in ZOPE through this product. What happens is this: Even though the "if-modified since" attribute in the GET request of our squid proxy equals the "last-modified" attribute of the external file object in the ZOPE database, the ZServer returns a 200 OK value (and as such, the file is transimtted again, though there's no need for this, since it wasn't modified.) The correct return code of the ZServer should be 304/not modified. Since all our "normal" images (not inserted via ExtImg) are treated in this correct way, we assume that this behaviour might be related to the ExtFile code. In the "extfile.py" source, there's a section that would return a "304" return code, so it seems that the product could handle things correctly. The sad thing of cause is, that in our case it doesn't... We found the " ExtFile-1.1.3.patch3 " by shh, in which some changes were also made to the handling of the "if-modified-since" handling (or so it sees). Unfortuneatly we could not use the patch on our productive Windows NT installation of zope, it simply doesn't seem to work. Well, after a long day of tracking down the problem I'm rather frustrated... and so I'm asking you for help. Maybe the problem is known (or the mistake we have in our setup) is known and you could provide us an answer. Sorting a dictionary in ZPT

I have a list of dictionaries extracted from a database by a python script. I would like to sort them for display in a ZPT. When I try to say something like tal:define="raw python:here.rawScript(); cooked python:sequence.sort(raw,(('title','nocase','asc'),));" I get the rather annoying error message: Error Type: TALESError Error ValueL exceptions.AttributeError on 'None' object has no attribute 'lower' in <PythonExpr sequence.sort(raw,(('title','nocase','asc'),))>, at line... The dictionaries all have a 'title' entry (I checked) so it looks like sequence.sort has some sort of requirements for its data list. Is there a better way to do this? Zope Book Help

I am working through this book and have run into 2 problems. Problem 1: In chap 5 (zoo site), it calls for modifying the standard_html_header to put in a dtml method called navigation. I have done so. Navigation and the new standard_html_header work fine when called directly, but when I use the View tab in the ZopeZoo folder the modified standard_html_header does not get called. I have placed this project in a folder a couple of levels down from the root folder for organizational ease. I thought I understood that a method located in the current container (folder) would be found before the root level method and would therefore override default behavior. Problem 2: I have added the index_html method and it generally seems to be working, but does not replace the <dtml-var getId> with the proper information -- nothing is printed. Can anyone point me to how to correct these problems? Bernard Golden
