The problem was that my path should have been http://www.mysite.edu:8080/ZSyncer_location/ instead of http://www.mysite.edu:8080/ZSyncer_location The slash made all the difference. Catalog and unicode

Hello, I have some trouble with looking up Unicode values from KeywordIndex and FieldIndex. I got UnicodeError, ASCII decoding error: ordinal not in range(128) when trying to look up an existing key from a FieldIndex with iso-8859-2 characters in it. Can somebody suggest a solution for this? (I know, browsers can lie) I just made a how-to with the code I use: http://www.zope.org/Members/jmeile/browserDetector It works with Netscape >=4, Microsoft Internet explorer, Opera, Galeon, Konqueror, lynx, links, wget and Mozilla/gecko compatible browsers. With the rest you will see browser='unknown', version='0'. If you want more browsers, you'll have to add them. Regards, Josef.

IE 5x lies about itself

I've been trying to conceptualize how I could select content FORMATTING based on the browser that connects. My thought was to use the request.HTTP_USER_AGENT and see about parsing and selecting there. The ugly thing is that IE starts out saying its mozilla. here's the results of various UA strings. IE 5.5 Mozilla/4.0 (compatible; MSIE 5.5; Windows NT 5.0; T312461) IE 6.0 Mozilla/4.0 (copmatible; MSIE 6.0, Windows NT 5.0) Netscape 4.7 Mozilla/4.79 [en] (Windows NT 5.0; U) Real Mozilla Mozilla/5.0 (Windows; U; Windows NT 5.0; en-US; rv:1.1b) Gecko/20020721 So, has anyone implemented a browser switch method thats easily understood? I'd like to select a different template based on the browser. Ergo, server side control instead of sending a load of javascript.. Zope Calendar Help

Hi! I have the Calendar product installed and starting to work with it. OSCON submissions wanted by Saturday!

For the Python/Zope track at OSCON (July 7-11 in Portland, Oregon) we need more papers and tutorials. It is especially pressing since the deadline for submissions is 2/15, i.e. this Saturday. Problems with standard_error_message

Hello again, I've got the following situation: Folder "protected", all permission acquisition is turned off. Now, provoke an error by calling the non-existing object "foo": http://server/protected/foo The root standard_error_message (left original) is displayed. Fine. The following behaviour can be reproduced from ver. 2.6.0 onwards to 2.6.1: The standard_error_message is NOT displayed. Instead some other message, maybe hard-coded, and the additionally the following hint: "(Also, an error occurred while attempting to render the standard error message.)" But, an acquired index_html is displayed as always. Bug or feature? I suppose that one issue is that packing in DirectoryStorage uses snapshots so that using something like rsync or cpio+find+nfs for incremental backup/replication to a peer ZSS would need to use snapshots. You can't do this while packing though, because packing uses snapshots. So a replication tool that uses normal history isn't prohibited during packing. This is how I understand this, but Toby may have a different (and likely more correct - and certainly more informed) explanation. But here's the official way to do it as of version 1.1: http://dirstorage.sourceforge.net/replica.html I would naively assume that you *should* be able to replicate by 1) putting the "master" into snapshot mode 2) running rsync 3) taking the "master" out of snapshot mode ... but there may be hidden issues with that; I would kind of assume so, since Toby Dickenson bothered to write the replication tool.
