2.7.0 RO Database

When we started playing with 2.7.0, I noticed there was the capability in zope.conf to specify "open *that* Data.fs" and there was verbiage about opening data.fs in RO mode. I was hoping that this would mean, potentially, that we could have our live QA site running on the older Zope and then have a read-only 2.7.0 version of that site that would just magically open the same Data.fs in RO mode. Is that possible? ZClasses. Temporary Folders, and copying

Hi! When I copy an folder from Temporary Folder to a normal, persistent folder, after copying ZClasses objects contained in the copied folder become unrecognized: "This object is broken because the unknown product that created it is no longer installed or is installed incorrectly. Please contact the product maintainer for assistance. Note that the data associated with this product has not been lost, and will be accessible again if the product is reinstalled." Of course, the ZClass object is still in the Control_Panel and the source objects display ok. Maybe the problem is that when I moved to Zope 2.7.0. I simply copied my database files from var to the new installation directory. Is there any better way to do this? I would appreciate any ideas. Marcin Wudarczyk http://mar.prv.pl

how to configure Zope to use Python 2.3.3

I am running Zope 2.6.3 (binary release) on win2k, which by default installs Python 2.1.3 . However, I wish to use Python 2.3.3 and I can't see how to 'swap' Python instances. Apologies for the apparent naivety of this question. I am new Zope, obviously. Regards Rod

Mozilla Hates my zClasses (resend, first attempt never came back)

I have created a 2 zClasses, one that is a CatalogAware File, one that is a CatalogAware Page Template. I recently noticed a most peculiar problem. Mozilla browsers cannot "Save Link As..." any content that is one of these zClasses "The Link Could Not Be Saved. The Web Page Might Have Been Moved or Renamed". Perusing the logs, I'm noticing that Mozilla browsers HEAD the files before they try to download them. Medusa returns 405 - Method Not Allowed for this command on these zClasses. Internet Explorer just skips straight to the GET, which works fine. How can I fix this? I have some idea where a HEAD method would need to go, but I'm not really sure what should be in it. Ed

setPermissionDefault

Using ClassSecurityInfo's security.setPermissionDefault(...) acts like a no-op AFAICT, when I tried it in my project code, following the instructions which can be found here: http://dev.zope.org/Wikis/DevSite/Projects/DeclarativeSecurity/ZopeSecurity… (for example, it's also in the 2.4 ZDG). My code looks like this, for the record: security.setPermissionDefault('View Narya', ('Anonymous', 'Manager')) security.setPermissionDefault('Use Narya', ('Manager',)) security.setPermissionDefault('Moderate Narya', ('Manager',)) Searching the archives, I find a couple of complaints about this not working, but no responses. Collector bug #275 is mentioned, but there doesn't seem to be such a bug any more. I'm still using Zope 2.5.1, though. SO. Did this ever get fixed? And if so, when? Or was there a documentation error of some kind? Do I really have to use the kludge mentioned at http://aspn.activestate.com/ASPN/Mail/Message/zope-List/799586 to work around this?
