re: DTML Loop Interation

Ah, the answer never fails to appear a minute after you ask the question: <dtml-in "_.range(0,9,1)"> <dtml-in expr="SQL_getSubject(subject_id=3,standard_no=_['sequence- number'])"> Display stuff from query... </dtml-in> </dtml-in> Where _['sequence-number'] replaces counter Maybe this solution will help someone else. :o) Harlow Pinson Indepth Learning Email: hpinson(a)indepthl.com Web: http://www.indepthl.com Voice: 505-994-2135 FAX: 208-475-7678

large number of users in standard acl_users ?
by Jerome Alet 18 Jul '03

18 Jul '03

Hi, is it possible to store a large number of users in a standard acl_users folder, provided that very few are connected at the same time ? I'd want to store around 20000 user ids there, all six characters long, plus their password. The online shopping website will have a low traffic, I don't think that more than 10 users will ever be logged in at the same time, probably even less than that, but there are 20000 possible users (max). Is there any drawback with this setup ? Should I use something like exUserFolder instead ? bye, and thanks in advance. Jerome Alet

Questions re: REQUEST, external methods; newbie stupidity at play
by zoper＠disturbance.dhs.org 18 Jul '03

18 Jul '03

Greetings: I realize I am likely doing stuff in the cruftiest way possible: Rather than flame if you have the urge, a link to specifics on better ways to do what I am doing would be appreciated. I have a set of external methods that do some stuff to create and build an XML document. I am also doing a lot of logic in DTML and passing stuff back and forth to these external methods. A great simplification of what I am doing: ---------------------- <dtml-call expr="REQUEST.set('myxmldoc',createxmldoc())"> <dtml-call expr="REQUEST.set('myxmldoc',addanode(myxmldoc[0],myxmldoc[1],databasevar)"> ---------------------- The problem is, that when I do this, re-using the myxmldoc var causes a __getitem__ attribute error. I have to use a new name, i.e. modxmldoc, to get around the error. OK, I thought, fine, so long as I can kill the original myxmldoc object, as I have many iterations of this and I do not want to end up with a huge amount of objects in memory, getting larger and larger. However, I can't figure out how to 'unset' myxmldoc - setting it to '' doesn't work, I get a string index out of range error. If I specifically set myxmldoc[0] and myxmldoc[1] to '', that works, but I still get the __getitem__ error when I attempt to re-use the variable. Suggestions? TIA, Bryan

hi all, We are able to successfully use ZPT + formulator to enter values into the database. But problem is arising with the use of formulator using ZPT to retreive the values from database and its proper display. We want the help of the entire community in solving this issue. Can anyone site any relevant examples already present in the net as we are unable to find any. Expecting a quick response. Epoz Editor
by Shaun Einolf 17 Jul '03

17 Jul '03

I am having a problem using the epoz editor for more than one field on a page. For example i have two areas on my page to be edited description and title. the code in my page template is as follows: <tr> <th>Description</th> <td tal:content="structure python: here.Epoz(name='description',data=varDict['description'],toolbox='/toolbox',lang='en',style='width: 620px; height: 250px; border-stlye: solid; border: 1px solid #000000;')"></td> </tr> <tr> <th>Title</th> <td tal:content="structure python: here.Epoz(name='title',data=varDict['title'],toolbox='/toolbox',lang='en',style='width: 620px; height: 250px; border-stlye: solid; border: 1px solid #000000;')"></td> </tr> What happens, is the editor decides to not allow editing of title and moves the title content to description box and it just seems i cant have epoz used more than once on a page to be edited. Any help would be appreciated Thanks Shaun Einolf

New zope.org rollout and transition plan
by Brian Lloyd 17 Jul '03

17 Jul '03

Hi all - At long last, we are preparing to 'go live' with a new and improved zope.org. The new site will put an architecture in place that will make it easier to maintain and improve the site. We're planning to make the new site live as www.zope.org at the end of July. The current site will still be accessible as old.zope.org. We plan to keep the old site available for a reasonable amount of time to ensure that important content that may have been missed by the migration can be hand-moved, etc. We'll give plenty of notice before decommissioning the old instance. Q: What does this mean for zope.org members? Generally, all membership info and most content will be transitioned to the new site automatically. Due to the amount of content and the 'organic growth' of the current zope.org over time however, there may be some bits of content that are either missed or get broken in some subtle way during transition. If you maintain product releases, articles or other content on zope.org, it would be a good idea to check on it after the transition. If you find things missing, you should be able to find it on the old.zope.org site and add it manually to the new site. If you find something broken and you don't know why, let us know so we can fix it. Q: Will there be some kind of 'public beta' period? Not per se. Experience has shown that it is hard to drum up the critical mass of usage required to really uncover non-obvious issues using a separate 'beta' site. In addition, zope.org presents a challenge in that you really need a short and choreographed 'switchover' window due to the community- contribution nature of the site. Members generally don't want to contribute their content twice (once on a beta site and once on the 'real' site), and we also need to go live quickly after a final content migration to minimize the inconvenience for people who might contribute content in the window between final migration and the launch of the new site. Q: Will the transition be quick, painless and invisible? Ha ha - silly human. :) We know from experience during the last zope.org transition that there will a period of hand-fixing after the new site goes live. Leaving the old site accessible during the transition will help with any pain we experience. I'll send another note when we finalize the dates for the final content migration and go-live date. I want to keep the window between these down to a day if possible to minimize disruptions. Brian Lloyd brian(a)zope.com V.P. Engineering 540.361.1716 Zope Corporation http://www.zope.com
