Inheritance problem

Hello to all Zopers :) I noticed this problem quite a while ago, and it's still bothering me. Layout of the problem: Let's say we have a machine with a domain machine.net on it, running Zope server. Now, we want to host 2 new domains: domain1.com and domain2.com. Now, why does the following work: machine.net/Examples domain1.com/Examples domain2.com/Examples I understand why it works, but i would like to configure Zope so it doesn't work. Also, if we have a directory testing in domain1.com's folder, this will work too: machine.net/testing domain1.com/testing domain2.com/testing Is there a way to stop this for happening or is this an issue still not resolved? I assume it can be dealt with users and privileges, but I'm not quite sure. Anyone else have the same problem or is it just that my setup is incorrect? Zope Freezing up with multiple threads accessing objects.

Ok, I have narrowed down my problem to the following, when calling get_transaction().commit(), the : In ZODB: In ZODB.Transaction.Transaction commit line 264: self._finish_many(jars) _finish_many line 393: jar.tpc_finish(self) in ZODB.Connection.Connection tpc_finish line 692: self._storage.tpc_finish(transaction, self._invalidate_invalidating) in ZODB.BaseStorage.BaseStorage tpc_finish line 155: if transaction is not self._transaction: return Now this line returns without calling _invalidate_invalidating in Connection.Connection. This in turn causes that the global lock on Globals.DB is not released. This freezes up Zope. This keeps me up 'till 3 in the morning. What am I doing wrong that causes this. Shouldn't the code above have some safeguard against such blocking. Also logging this in the collector. Etienne

Using Client.py for remote admin

I have setup an administrative instance of Zope which will be used to manage and control a bunch of other instances. It's most convenient to be able to invoke methods from the administrative instance, but have all the action happen on the managed instance. For example, the administrative machine may want to create a ZDiscussion... Client.py seems well suited to this, but it seems to demand basic authentication rather than the cookiecrumbler approach I use. I'm a bit stuck as to how to work around the authentication issue. Other than that, everything seems to be working swimmingly.

I does not know plone, but I have idea how to do that in DTML (dtml-in, play with authentiocated_user, dtml-with sequence-item and/or dtml-try and so on...). Regards JL.

Simple wikis

I'm using 2.6.1. It seems to me that, the last time I made a wiki they were simple enough that even _I_ found them easy to create. a. Am I right, or is my mind playing tricks? b. If I am correct, then could someone please suggest how I can get a really simple wiki page (that fits into an arbitrarily defined <div>) that contains nothing much more than a button offering an impetuous user the option of editing the page? That is, no comments, no reparenting, no information about who did the editing, and so on. And I hope this doesn't read like a complaint. :o) Best regards, Bill

[Ann] SkinnedFolder: skins for Zope Folders

SkinnedFolder is a tiny integration layer on top of Zope's Folder and the CMF's SkinsTool. It provides different skins for a Zope Folder. A skin is the third element in the bones-flesh-skin view on web applications. The bones correspond to the basic infrastructure with object classes and services, the flesh is the content and the skin provides for presentation and business logic. Separating skins (presentation) from flesh (content) provides for easier personalization, greater flexibility and simpler maintenance. The CMF SkinsTool allows to define a set of skins as a sequence of name spaces (called layers, usually folder like objects). It supports the notion of current skin. This skin is used as name space to extend the attribute resolution on the SkinsTool's parent. This parent appears to have as attributes all names defined and mapped to objects by the current skin. Switching the current skin allows for easy personalization of presentation and business logic by changing the attribute name to object map. This product integrates the SkinsTool with the standard Zope Folder. You must have CMFCore installed which you can get from the CMF distribution. Almost surely, you will only be interested in this product, when you want to separate presentation from content. You may want to use this product together with FileSystemSite. VerboseSecurity and LDAPUserFolder?

Hi Shane & all Have you had any opportunity to play with VerboseSecurity together with LDAPUserFolder (2.2beta3)? It looks as though VerboseSecurity doesn't kick in with LDAPUserFolder: I get a plain "Unauthorized" exception, instead of the nice verbose feedback I get on the plain UserFolder next door. Remote management permissions problem

I'm still having a problem with this issue and have not yet found a workaround. I have a management instance of Zope which is to be used to manage a collection of other Zope instances. I am trying to use Zope's Client.py mechanism (ZPublisher.Client) and am running into permissions problems with the cookiecrumbler authentication. I am using an External Method in the admin site: import ZPublisher.Client def createRemoteDiscussion( self, instanceURL, d_id, d_title ): f = ZPublisher.Client.Function( instanceURL, username='usermanager', password='usermanagerpassword') headers, body = f(d_id=d_id, d_title=d_title) return body When I use this to create an instance of, say, a ZClass remotely, I get vectored to the login page of the remote site, presumably because of permissions issues. How do I make this work? Or is there a better solution? For the record, I am currently running Zope 2.6.2b3, Python 2.1.3.

CheckBoxes, dynamic lists and SQL insert statements

Hi all, I'm feeling rather thick, as I've been reading through some of a similar question from about 2 years back ( http://mail.zope.org/pipermail/zope/2001-August/097408.html ) and I'm not quite understanding it. What I am trying to achieve is to pull some date from one table by an SQL query, and have the results selectable/de-selectable by the form of a checkbox - to then be dumped into a temporary table. I'm guessing that it's probably something simple, and I'm just too close to the code. This here is my selection via checkbox form.. this seems to pass the information to my next step ok... I would like to make a (plone) Zope site only accessible to authenticated users. That is, imagine I have accounts user1, user2, user3. and folder folder1, folder2, folder3. These folders are subfolders of a folder called private: ---- private - folder1 - folder2 - folder3 How can I make sure that, e.g. user1 and user2 can only access folder1 (and do not see folder2 and folder3), and that user3 can access folder2 and folder3 (and does not see folder1). Ideally, whenever a user1, user2, user3 is searching for content, he (she) should not see content contained in a folder he cannot access. In my real life the number of users can be approx. 50-100 and the number of folders 25-40.
