Unifying user authentication.

Hi all, I'm getting better, but there's still quite a bit I don't understand about Zope, Apache, and Linux. Since I am running a system with the three of them, and the date that it will go into production is coming up, I thought I should try to figure out how I am going to handle user authentication. My primary experience with user's is that of using MySQL for that purpose, with users having a crypt-ed password. I have implemented this, but it is only particularily good for the system I have built on top of Zope (in this case, primarily a forum), and I would like ideas on how to unify my current system with the User Authentication facilities available through Zope, Apache, and Linux. I am not heavily invested in my current system, though having a MySQL-based system is quite useful in terms of doing joins against other things that I do need the database for. Probably one of the most difficult things is that I am not sure what I need the users to be able to do in each situation. But I'll try to give my best guess at these. In Linux, I need to be able to create users that can SSH in and install programs within their area of the system, as well as modify the configuration of any system-wide programs they are relying on(such as Apache or MySQL). In terms of Apache, there may be entire dynamic sites built outside of Zope (due to the skillsets of other developers), so I will need to provide user authentication for these sites (which I guess could be done through MySQL fairly simply, assuming we wanted to carry users between sites). In Zope, I am undecided. I want to allow non-programmers access to upload and create files, and change configuration to some extent, and while I am leaning towards creating something myself for this functionality, I get the feeling that with a better understanding of Zope, I could pull this off fairly easily, but as I do not yet have that understand, I plead that someone at least give me a shove in the right direction. In short how do I make this thingy work on windows? :( Long version: Downloaded the binary version of MySQL-python-0.9.2.win32-py2.1 This must be the one to use with Zope. Have installed python2.1 - some where in the process don't know why. Standard dir c:/Python21 Mysql-Python-0.9.2 thinks I want to use this Python installation. Problem is that Zope knows nothing about the python installation in C:\Python21. Is there a step by step how-to? \Oliver

attribute error 'sendall' in sendmail tag

Hi all, I'm upgrading from zope 2.4.3 to 2.5.1. In an application I have a mailform to send mail to multiple recipients using the sendmail tag. The to field consists of a comma-separated list of mailaddresses. It works in 2.4.3. In 2.5.1 I get an attribute error, vallue 'sendall'. Traceback below. Problems with sendmail and attachments

Hi everybody! I have a problem with sending attachments using sendmail tag. This is my file: <dtml-sendmail mailhost="TOPS_mailhost"> To:<dtml-var mail_addresses> From:klima Subject:<dtml-var mail_subject> <dtml-mime type=text/plain encode=7bit> Attached is the document you requested. <dtml-boundary name=report.htm type=text/html disposition=attachment encode=7bit> <dtml-var "_[test]"> </dtml-mime> <dtml-var mail_text> </dtml-sendmail> 'test' is a simple html file. I'm getting an error after processing the upper file. Error is: Error Type: TypeError Error Value: expected string or Unicode object, ImplicitAcquirerWrapper found What's wrong ? Any ideas ? Acquiring permision settings

I am pleased to announce the release of TextIndexNG 1.05 beta2 This version is also the release candidate for the official 1.05 release. TextIndexNG is a new pluggable index for the ZCatalog and is the most feature complete solution for fulltext inexing under Zope. TextIndexNG enhances the fulltext indexing capabilities of Zope by providing the following features: * support for document converters (HTML, PDF, WinWord, PowerPoint, Postscript). Custom converters can be easily added * stemmer support for 12 languages * optional support for right truncation * similarity search (soundex, metaphone support) (for English) * NEAR search * phrase search * pluggable query parsers (two parsers included) * stop words support * new test tab for interactive testing * faster than Zopes old TextIndex * full unicode support (new) * normalization support (new) * new similarity algorithm: double metaphone (new) * new TXNGSplitter * new vocabulary browser Changes: * added full wildcard support for CLLexicon and StandardLexicon * rewrote Stemmer module (now fully unicode compliant) * unittests code cleanup * query evaluation refactored * Parser API changed to return a parse tree instead of a Python expression * new parse tree evaluator added * PyQueryParser: now accepts a minus sign as prefix of a word to indicate NOT.
