No module named Splitter #2

Hi all I'm still somewhat lost. I copied the Data.fs from Zope 2.4.0 to 2.4.4b1 (Solaris). Zope starts fine but when trying to use a Catalog I get the following message: Traceback (innermost last): File /.../lib/python/ZPublisher/Publish.py, line 223, in publish_module File /...//lib/python/ZPublisher/Publish.py, line 187, in publish File /...//lib/python/Zope/__init__.py, line 226, in zpublisher_exception_hook (Object: Catalog) File /...//lib/python/ZPublisher/Publish.py, line 171, in publish File /...//lib/python/ZPublisher/mapply.py, line 160, in mapply (Object: manage_catalogFoundItems) File /...//lib/python/ZPublisher/Publish.py, line 112, in call_object (Object: manage_catalogFoundItems) File /...//lib/python/Products/ZCatalog/ZCatalog.py, line 404, in manage_catalogFoundItems (Object: Catalog) File /...//lib/python/Products/ZCatalog/ZCatalog.py, line 783, in ZopeFindAndApply (Object: Catalog) File /...//lib/python/Products/ZCatalog/ZCatalog.py, line 771, in ZopeFindAndApply (Object: Catalog) File /...//lib/python/Products/ZCatalog/ZCatalog.py, line 554, in catalog_object (Object: Catalog) File /...//lib/python/Products/ZCatalog/Catalog.py, line 439, in catalogObject File /...//lib/python/Products/PluginIndexes/TextIndex/TextIndex.py, line 363, in index_object (Object: title) File /...//lib/python/ZODB/Connection.py, line 544, in setstate ImportError: (see above) I can't tell what the problem is. Somehow seems to be something with Unpickle. I read through the old lists on the subject but I can't quite figure where my fault lies. Help is very appreciated! ;-) Oliver Erlewein P.S. How can I recompile Splitters??

Zatalog Vocabulary Splitter Update
by Andreas Rippel 26 Mar '02

26 Mar '02

Hi, unfortunately I never found a document explaining the topics "Zatalog Vocabulary Splitter Update" on a larger scale. ISO-8859: I configured the Splitter during installation via the setting the encoding variable in site.py. Does anyone know some cleaner way, e.g. how to set up the catalog parameters? How to do it for windows, because setup.exe starts directly, and there is now way to edit site.py? I have to upload a text or html file as dtml document or methode, otherwise it is not recognized for indexing. How to set up a catalog to index also a plain file? Regards Andreas

by Andrea Mennucc 26 Mar '02

26 Mar '02

hi I am a newbie and it shows ... I am writing a python script; I would like to create pagetemplates and extfiles (I have succesfully added the ExtFile product to Zope) so I am trying to call container.manage_addTemplateFile(id="my_tem__file",file="contenuto") or container.manage_addExtFile(id="my_tem__file",file="contenuto") from within my Python script; but this fails, saying Error Type: AttributeError Error Value: manage_addTemplateFile what is the error? a. ps: please CC any answer to me also -- Andrea Mennucc "E' un mondo difficile. ZGDChart - insificient height
by Smith, Neil 26 Mar '02

26 Mar '02

I am using ZGDChart to produce some charts from data from a ZSql method. The SQL method returns a character string for the first field, and a number for the second. I'm having trouble with the length of the character strings. If they get fairly long, 26 characters seems to start the trouble, then I get the message "insificient height" (their spelling, not mine). Increasing the height of the chart sometimes seems to help, but sometimes doesn't, and there doesn't seem to be any simple relation between the length of the strings and the height that the chart needs to be. A chart that is 500 pixels wide and 250 pixels high might accept character strings of 25 characters, but then for 26 characters it could need to be made 800 pixels high. Changing a COPY of metadata modifies ZClass instance?
by Milos Prudek 26 Mar '02

26 Mar '02

I think I'm going slightly mad :-) A Python Script that is supposed to modify a COPY of metadata in practice changes metadata itself, and ZClass instance :-( for i in context.Catalog_Org(userid=uid): l=i.userid print "title: ",i.title l.remove(uid) When this script runs from ZMI, it changes metadata in Catalog_Org (but index data in Catalog_Org is not changed[!]), and it changes data displayed in ../propertysheets of the given ZClass instances. I believed that "l=i.userid" will put a copy of userid metadata into "l", and that anything I will do with "l" will not influence anything except "l". Why is it behaving like that? Zope Treasures
by D.Turpie＠open.ac.uk 26 Mar '02

26 Mar '02

Does anyone know what has happened to the Zope Treasures website? http://www.zope-treasures.com/ It doesn't seem to be live anymore or at least I can't get in. I get the "Connection Failed" error and a message saying "The remote host or network may be down". I have had this error message coming up for a while now and just thought I would see if anyone else had the same problems and any idea if they are no longer operating this website. Thanks. David.

Z SQL Bug wasted nearly my whole morning
by Ren Bing 26 Mar '02

26 Mar '02

Dear all: A bug in Z SQL method wasted my whole precious morning! Write the body of a Z SQL method as below, with only Arguments as 'client' insert into test values(client) now goto 'test', input something or not, everytime you get "Error, exceptions.TypeError: __call__() got multiple values for keyword argument 'client' " since the actual case I am debugging is more complex than this, I didn't reach the point at first. I tried my whole precious morning, trying this and that, examine here and there, feeling like jump our of window or smash my computer :-) (not so bad, in face :-) just because that I never expect that the problem exist at the NAME!!!!! at last, nearly tried every thing I can guess (am I too stupid? maybe), I replaced argument name "client" to "clientname" , then everything is fine. Woo, but WHY???? what's inside this? I didn't read this at anywhere. Is there still more like this ahead? May I be so bold to add some comment: when using Zope at first, I am shocked by how easy it is to use, just a few code can do great thing that you need to write several times of codes otherwise, like Java. But more and more, I found that I used several times debugging effort than Java. Perhaps because that I am just new to Zope. But I think the "Zope Book" is not explicit enough, for example, no where mentioned that when you call a DTML method from a python method, you need to pass its container folder or something as parameter, or your DTML method can never find the standard-header...... I spend several hour to find out.... I don't know whether it is my own problem or Zope's problem. But this time, the "client" and "clientname" killed me. I am considering seriously whether or not shall I turn back to Java in next project. Thanks very much. I am not mean to say bad word to Zope. Ren Bing

alternating colors based on sequence-index of outer loop
by John Hunter 25 Mar '02

25 Mar '02

I have a folder called Sections that is filled with Section instances. Each Section contains a variable number of students, and I want all the students in a given section to have the same row color in my table, with sections alternating colors. I have nested dtml-in loops over the sections and students in each section, and want the rows of my table to alternate in batches depending on whether the outer loop is even or odd. Basically, I need to do a dtml-let in the outer loop that the inner loop will access, but am having trouble with the syntax. Here is some example dtml with pseudo code to set the default_color <dtml-in expr="Sections.objectValues('Section')" mapping> <dtml-if sequence-even> default_color="gray" <dtml-else> default_color="white" </dtml-if> <dtml-in expr="_['sequence-item'].objectValues('Student')" mapping> <tr default_color> ..Fill in the row.. </tr> </dtml-in> </dtml-in> Thanks for any help, John Hunter
