ZClass extensions
by James Gilbert 07 Mar '02

Hi all, Here's what I want to do: By selecting a certain class as a base class for a new ZClass (eg MyBaseZClass), I want to have a management tab/page available to the Class definition in the Product where attributes can be added/ edited/deleted (basically access to an object list in MyBaseZClass). These are then created with instances of the ZClasses. Similar to propertysheets, but management of more complex objects than propertysheets provide. What I need is any information on how to define MyBaseZClass so that management tab appears in ZMI and so that properties set there will be created when an instance of the ZClass is created. Indeed, if people think ZClasses are even the way to go. They do provide the desired behaviour - user definition of class attributes via the ZMI which are then available to all instances of that class. Even better would be if there is already a simple solution that I've overlooked :) Any ideas/info/links would be greatly appreciated James Gilbert

Changing ownership...
by Josef Meile 07 Mar '02

07 Mar '02

I'm using the following method to change the ownership of an Object: from AccessControl.Owned import Owned def changeOwner(pObject,pUserFolder,pUsername=''): userObject=pUserFolder.getUser(pUsername).__of__(pUserFolder) pObject.changeOwnership(userObject) Owned.changeOwnership(pObject,userObject,recursive=1) And I call it as follows: <dtml-call "REQUEST.set(objectValue, REQUEST.resolve_url('www.myurl.com/myFolder'))"> <dtml-call "changeOwner(objectValue,acl_users,'tester')"> The above solution changes the ownership of the folder and the objects inside of it (I can see it on the manage interface). My problem now is that I get the following error whenever I try to edit an object that I own: Site Error An error was encountered while publishing this resource. Unauthorized You are not authorized to access indexObject. Why do I get this message if I own the object which I want to modify? It doesn't happen if I create a new object rather than transfer the ownership. What am doing wrong? Thanks in advanced, Josef.

ZSyncer in a version

Is it possible to sync in a version? It would be great to make a new version at target machine, sync to it, verify that everything is OK, and then commit the version. -- Milos Prudek

Cookie authentication: CUF and XUF
by darrylc 07 Mar '02

07 Mar '02

I have been running tests with IE 5 and IE 6 and am running into the same problem. If I set the CUF to expire the cookies after the browser session, I can view the first page on my site, but if I go to another link within the same site/level I get thrown back to the authorization page and zope thinks I am an anonymous user. This is with the expiration set to end after the session. Testing with Netscape, Galeon, or Opera works fine. Anyone else see this? Zope: 2.4.3 OS: Linux RH 7.2 XUF seems to totally ignore the fact that I have set cookies as my authenticaton method. If I set the method to Basic Auth. I get challenged via http. With cookies I sail on through. This could be user error. Do I need to write my own dtml methods to like docLogin, etc. Or should XUF be automatically be using the "Contents" tab?? TIA, -Darryl

Automatically create SQL table from existing form?
by Joel Burton 07 Mar '02

07 Mar '02

I've been handed a bunch of HTML forms that currently have the ACTION set to a scritp send email with the values. I want to switch these to stuffing into a database, but would rather not hand-examine the forms to find the fields and field sizes and create SQL tables manually. I know there are sophisticated Zope products to create editing forms from existing SQL tables (Znolk and family). Great, but not what I need here. Is there a simple script someone has which looks at an HTML form, finds the <input ..> and <textareas ..> and crafts a SQL table from it? Re: [Zope] [Newbie] Making my own authentication form

There are several products out there that should help you along with this. Do a search on Zope.org for Cookie Crumbler or Cookie User Folder. Also exUserFolder might also be of interest. hth, Todd On 07 Mar 2002, <aleciesse(a)infinito.it> wrote: > Hi all, I'm a Zope really new user. RE:SOLVED: Why my Zope kept dying

Hi Darren, You wrote: ... snip >This sounded like what I was experiencing. I removed the last line, restarted >Zope and it has been up since. ...snip I'm a zope-digest member and thought your problem was so trivial that I didn't respond. But now I think I should. If you'r using a Unix or Linux operating system and you start the Start script like this: prompt>./start <enter> or prompt>/Web/zope/start <enter> Than the output zope generates is attached to the window in which you started zope. When you want to start zope in Debug mode, but want to be able to close a window, you should make sure the Zope proces is pushed to the background, like this: prompt>./start & <enter> Problem solved... Testing ZSQL Methods that take lists as parameters
by Smith, Neil 07 Mar '02

Is there some way to enter a list into a field on the test page of a Z Sql Method? I've tried putting stuff like [1,2,3] (1,2,3) etc, but it is always just passed to the SQL method as a string. It would be nice to be able to test without having to manually set up some test methods to call them with a list parameter. DOES ANY ONE KNOW OF A MULTITHREADED DATABASE ADAPTOR FOR WINDOWS98? Gadfly just can't handle it. . Hey! I'm working up a quick re to give me the folder above a webpage... For instance: ### I want: http://www.the.net/bigfolder/ ### import re url = "http://www.the.net/bigfolder/somepage.html" htmlfile = re.compile("/\w*\.html") htmlfile.match(href_url) if htmlfile: folder_url = htmlfile.sub(href_url, "/") For some reason I cannot get my re to do this right... I goit a bunch of hits while searching that indicated many people were having trouble with re in 2.2 python. Is this the case? Anyone know what the syntax is to compile that re? TIA -ed-
