No, its not an ActiveX component; it is a feature (or MS-specific hack-over-headers) that has been built-into IE for a while, and used primarily for intranet sites built using IIS. The server has to explicitly tell the browser that it will accept NTLM authentication sent via HTTP headers. See my previous message for more details. I agree, this is a security risk, and somewhat pointless when you consider that browsers have 'save-a-password' features for Basic Auth anyway...Then again, perhaps that is as much as a security risk. If you are really paranoid, you will implement cookie-based auth (not basic or NTLM) with server-based timeout/expirations of credentials associated with a session cookie, since not everyone locks their workstation when they leave their desk... XUF running on a Unix or NT box will do SMB auth off any NT box in a domain, but can't do anything as nice as map Domain groups to roles, and dive users in those groups certain roles, etc. This is a limitation of the client library. The only reasonable workaround if your Zope box runs Unix is likely something like LDAP (if your network supports it) as a bridge to your NT Domain info; though if your Zope instance runs on an NT box I think there are some tools to allow you to do NT Authentication and also Authorization (map users to roles somehow). I can say, however, that the XUF SMB Authentication works just fine, and is easy to set up, provided all you are looking for is Authentication. The magic IE-specific NTLM-over-HTTP auth mechanism could work, provided you hacked it into ZServer, becuase it requires a specifc sequence of HTTP responses and headers... Hi, I am developing a product and I want to be able to conduct some tests before presenting the add product form so that the results of the test are available in the form. I tried: def manage_addMyProductForm(client, REQUEST. *args, **kw): """Perform tests and display add form.""" if test1: passed_test1=1 else: passed_test1=0 if not test2: passed_test2=1 else: passed_test2=0 form=PageTemplateFile('forms/manage_addMyProductForm.zpt', globals(), __name__='addMyProductFormPT') return form(client, REQUEST, args=args, pass_test1=pass_test1, pass_test2=pass_test2) The problem with this is the call to form() produces an AttributeError on 'other in Shared.DC.Scripts.Bindings._getTraverseSubpath() when REQUEST.other.get('TraverseSubpath') is called. Hi, im a newbee with ZOPE and with this mailing list trying to do the GUEST BOOK example thats on this page: http://www.zope.org/Members/michel/ZB/SimpleExamples.dtml At the end of the example theres a pytho script thats needed to finally make the GuestBook example work, so when i copy it from the page, and paste it on zope (creating a python script) , sope says that thescript has errors.... Im not familiar with python, so if anyone could help, ill apreciate it. dtml-in syntax

zAllProjRoles is a zsqlmethod that returns as one of it's fields Projteamid. I can get a value if I use <dtml-var Projteamid> within the loop. ProjTeamPhones takes an argument called Projteamid. It should return all the phone numbers for this id number. But this code gives me a 'Bad Request Error' on 'Projteamid'. More Session errors (now with 2.5.0)

Chris/List, further to my last post ( http://zope.nipltd.com/public/lists/zope-archive.nsf/ByKey/31062F4798B21631 )about experiencing problems with CST under 2.3.3, I now have a bit more information. Unfortunately, I don't anticipate it will be very helpful in diagnosing the problem :-(. So, the new setup is: - winNT4 - zope250 - DCO2 - built-in session machinery from zope250 (i.e. not CST anymore) - using the same site (exported from zope233 then imported to 250) as before The site is under considerably less load now, so errors are few an far between, but they *are* happening (I'm fairly certain this is not a load issue now). Here's a sample traceback... As for your other suggestions last time, I'm afraid we haven't got round to using 'ab' against the site. Neither have we tried "Sessions.stresstests.stresstestMultiThread.py", although now we are using the 250 session stuff, this should be fairly easy right? I'll look into this next, but I won't have much spare time for the next 2 weeks. Other interesting facts are: We appear to have a memory leak: This was present under zope233 as well, but we didn't spot it at the time. Do you or anyone else have a good suggestion for tracking this problem down? I am next to clueless in ways to do this :-(. Could it possibly be my web code? Could it be related to the flakey sessioning? <I presume the answer to both is 'Yes', but it's difficult to say either way> We see periodic zodb conflicts: I can't tell you much more than that until they happen again (we lost that particular log). The confusing thing is, I don't think there are any parts of the site that actually allow people to modify objects in the zodb. People can update an oracle database, and obviously they can query it as well, but that's about it. So what is trying to write to the zodb? The only thing I can think of is the session machinery, which I why I mention it. Sorry to be the bearer of bad tidings. cheers tim
