Repost: problem creating MySQL-python RPM: _mysqkl not found
by Ron Arts 07 Mar '02

I think my previous post did not reach the list, so I repost it to be sure. Hi, this must be a FAQ but, and maybe this is not the right list but.. I am trying to create an RPM out of MySQL-python. The README states: you *must* compile using 'Zope's python'. Ok, so what does that mean? I looked around google and it seems to mean: 'the python that z2.py is started by.' Ok, that's /usr/bin/python2.1, so I did: $ /usr/bin/python2.1 setup.py bdist_rpm and indeed, it creates an .rpm. But when I look inside that rpm, it contains /usr/lib/python1.5/site-packages/MySQLdb/*, so it uses python 1.5!! Indeed if I install the rpm (and ZMySQLDA after it) then ZMySQLDA is broken and says 'ImportError: No module named _mysql' Does anyone have experience building rpm's with python? Thanks, Ron Arts

Re: [Zope] Confused about ZSyncer setup

John/Andy, Thanks for your comments. > >I *think* I recall having problems with ZSyncer and https when I first >installed it. From ZSyncer.py (line 377) > >def _check_http(self, v): > # so people can get away with leaving http:// off :) > if v[:7] != 'http://' and v[:8] != 'https://': > v = 'http://%s' % v > return v > >I think I added the and v[:8] != 'https://' part. Check if you have it. > I am using Apache ProxyPass/ProxyPassReverse directives to translate https requests into http requests to my firewalled zope server, so don't have any issue with this (although I tested it anyway ...). However, I would have thought it sensible to check for the presence of the HTTPS environment variable to determine if you were dealing with a http or https request and return the appropriately designated URL. Perhaps that code stub should look something like: def _check_http(self, v): server_protocol = 'http' if os.environ.has_key('HTTPS'): server_protocol = server_protocol + 's' if v[:len(server_protocol) + 1] != server_protocol + ':': v = server_protocol + ':' + v return v I do get to my manage screen on my production box with this setup (ie using URL https://www.mydomain.com/site/ZSyncer/manage) However, I ppp dialin with a dynamically assigned address from my development machine which makes a 'pull from production' infeasible. I wish to 'push from development', much as I run my CVS mirror. My development Zope has a ZSyncer instance with a destination containing: https://www.mydomain.com/site/ZSyncer My understanding here, is that it IS irrelevant as to the contents of this instance on the production box, as it is the definition on the dev box that will specify the synchronisation. When I attempt a sync with this, I get a 'There was a problem with that comparison.' error, and a statement that 'None' object has no attribute 'startswith'. Something appears to have been expecting a string - but what???? If I can't get this running over the next couple of days, does anyone have an opinion on the feasibility of rsync'ing the Data.fs file? Determining object type
by Sherman Lambert (State Office) 07 Mar '02

Hey there, I have a in loop which iterates over two different types of objects. I need to know which type of object I am dealing with in each iteration. This can't be hard , but I cannot find it in the docs. <dtml-in expr="(objectValues('type1')) + (objectValues('type2')"> <dtml-if {I want type 1 here}> processing <dtml-else {type2 by default}> processing </dtml-if> </dtml-in> TIA Sherman

[CrossPost] Speeding up CMF startus -- delaying ZPT cooking
by Dieter Maurer 06 Mar '02

06 Mar '02

I updated my "ZPT delay cooking" patch for the PageTemplate product now part of Zope 2.5. (see <http://www.dieter.handshake.de/pyprojects/zope>). Applying the patch reduced startup time for a CMF site from about 20 seconds to about 6 seconds: Without the patch, the tree display in Zope's management interface forces all PageTemplates in the CMF skins to be cooked (e.g. parsed and transformed into an internal form). This takes a lot of time. The patch delays cooking until the template is rendered. Of the remaining 6 seconds, 4.5 seconds are caused by a similar cooking for FSPythonScripts. Delaying this cooking as well, will reduce the time to 1.5 seconds which starts to be acceptable. For the moment, I can live with the 6 seconds, but as the time increases linearly with the number of CMF sites, I may soon work on delaying cooking for PythonScripts as well. Dieter

Hook for WebDAV list?
by Joel Burton 06 Mar '02

06 Mar '02

Peering through the source, I'm trying to find the place that is called when you request a collection (aka folder) list in WebDAV. I want to managle object names returned for WebDAV only. I can affect this for FTP access, but don't see where the WebDAV listings originate. Can anyone steer me to the right place? Can't add exUserFolder
by Juergen R. Plasser / Hexagon 06 Mar '02

06 Mar '02

I can't add an exUserFolder into on of my ZClass instances. It says "This object already contains a User Folder". There is definitly no other exUserFolder in the system. The ZClass is derived from ZObjectManager and for testing purposes I selected all available object as subobjects. Anybody seen this before? Juergen Plasser plasser(a)hexagon.at

How to get "context" in an instance method
by Paul Tiemann 06 Mar '02

06 Mar '02

This probably has a simple solution, but I'm probably going to have to sleep on it to find it. Thanks in advance for any help... I have a class derived from ObjectManager and SimpleItem.Item which defines a directory structure under it. Something like this: class MyZopeProduct( ObjectManager.ObjectManager, SimpleItem.Item ) # ... def myFunc(self, context=None, REQUEST=None): doSomethingWithContext(context) After I add an instance of MyZopeProduct to my root folder (as myinstance) I can go to http://me:8080/myinstance and things work as expected. If there is a folder inside my instance called 'folder' then I can also go to http://me:8080/myinstance/folder and everything works fine. What I can't figure out is how to go to http://me:8080/myinstance/folder/myFunc and have the context (the folder instance object) passed into my script. I've been hunting through the source for something similar but I can't find it. It's probably something simple, but I just can't seem to find how to get the context. When I call myFunc the REQUEST variable is inserted, but the context always comes back as None. All other Acquisition-related functionality seems to work for "folder", like pulling 'index_html' out of the root because it doesn't have one of its own (and neither does "myinstance") I want to be able to use Acquisition within my Python Product code... Is it possible? Thanks in advance! -Paul _________________________________________________________________ Send and receive Hotmail on your mobile device: http://mobile.msn.com

ZCatalog "AttributeError: __call__" error
by Villemin, Remi 06 Mar '02

06 Mar '02

Hello, I am running Zope 2.5.0. I am able to create a ZCatalog in some folders and to "Find and Catalog" objects in it, but in some other folders when I try to "Find and Catalog" objects I get an "AttributeError: __call__" error. Does anybody has an idea where this error comes from? Thanks a lot, Rémi ============================== The error log is: catalogObject File /usr/local/zope/2-5-0/lib/python/Products/ZCatalog/Catalog.py, line 423, in recordify AttributeError: __call__

ZSQL with REQUEST and named arguments
by Ulrich Wisser 06 Mar '02

06 Mar '02

Hello, my ZSQL method has several arguments. Some values will be provided via the REQUEST object and some do I want to hardcode in the method call. REQUEST will have a key 'name' (which is the name I want to retrieve from the database) and I want to search only in zip area "50xxx". <dtml-let results="sql.address(_.None,_,zip='50%')"> If I use this call the name from REQUEST.name will never be used by the ZSQL method. If I do <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('zip', '50%')"> <dtml-let results="sql.address(_.None,_)"> Everything works fine. Any ideas? How can I make this work without the dtml-call statements (seems ugly to me).
