Do you mean the >production >server's "Sync URL" can be empty? > No, I mean that any parameters set in the ZSyncer object on the production (target) URL will be ignored, as it is the parameters from the development ZSyncer driving the process. As I mentioned earlier, I am still confused about the purpose of the production ZSyncer instance. You suggested that in order to have client-server for the XMLRPC dialogue, this was necessary. I would have thought that merely by installing the product, this was sufficient. The destinations would then highlight nodes in file systems much as any other copy tool (ie cp, rsync, CVS, rcp, tar ...) What am I missing? Apache, Zope problem on NT
by Stig-Arne Nordin 07 Mar '02

07 Mar '02

Hi, I'm trying to run Zope behind Apache on an NT box. I have tried to adapt and follow the advice laid out by mwr and fritz on the Zope community. Most things now work nice and transparent. I can manage Zope through Apache. However, I cannot serve DocumentRoot to the web. local is a folder that resides in DocumentRoot. Adressing http://my.server.domain.se/local gives "Site Error" from Zope. I can only access DocumentRoot with a browser residing on my server using localhost http://localhost/local. If I remove my virtual host DocumentRoot is served to the web. Beats me! Voo-doo and/or Guru help is needed. Any and all help will greatly appreciated. -- Regards Stig-Arne Nordin | Physics Chalmers University of Technology ============ The following specifics applies: Zope 2.3.2 runs as "service" on Port 8080 with VirtualHostMonster and SiteRoot activated. Zope is "out of the box" otherwise. manage_delObjects requires escalated permissions when run from different folder?
by Milos Prudek 07 Mar '02

Why manage_delObjects requires granting "Delete objects" to Authenticated to allow even Manager(!!!) to use it? The following DTML method lives in /edit Folder, and it tries to delete a copy_of_top image in /images Folder. Even a manager cannot run it (the error message is "unauthorised to use manage_delObjects") unless "Delete objects" is granted to Authenticated. <dtml-var standard_html_header> <dtml-with images> <dtml-if copy_of_top> <h1>Image is there</h1> <dtml-call "images.manage_delObjects(ids=['copy_of_top'])"> <dtml-else> <h1>Image is not there</h1> </dtml-if> </dtml-with> <dtml-var standard_html_footer> This problem does NOT appear if both the DTML method and image live in the same folder. In other words, the following DTML method does not require special privileges: <dtml-var standard_html_header> <dtml-if copy_of_top> <h1>Image is there</h1> <dtml-call "manage_delObjects(ids=['copy_of_top'])"> <dtml-else> <h1>Image is not there</h1> </dtml-if> <dtml-var standard_html_footer> Why is this? -- Milos Prudek

Changing the name of a python class in FTP Client directory listing
by Jean-François Ménard 07 Mar '02

07 Mar '02

I have some custom python classes in a product that I want to be available via FTP. The problem is: Classes instances have some very beautifuls names like "3253474252.12" ... How could I send the (real) name of the documents to FTP clients? I would also like to create custom classes instances from FTP PUT requests, probably based on file extension. Jeff

workflow_history access
by JesusAvila＠apb.es 07 Mar '02

07 Mar '02

Hi there, I am using DCWorkflow. I need some help here on accessing to "workflow_history". I can call workflow_history like that: <dtml-var workflow_history> and it works fine, it returns all the values included in the dictionary. The problem comes when i try to access to the diferent values in "workflow_history" like ... <dtml-var expr="workflow_history['jesus_workflow'][0]> (jesus_workflow is the name of the workflow) There is a file called "zmi_metadata.dtml" stored in CMFCore/dtml which is referred from the script WorkflowTool.py and is in there where i can access to all the parts in "workflow_history" without receiving the message " Unauthorized: You are not allowed to access jesus_workflow in this context " after asking me for my login and password and not accepting even the administrator one. The questions are: 1) How can i access to the diferent values of workflow_history? Do i need to add a special function to the Product? If so, how can i do that? If not, what can i do? 2) There are some attributes/functions in the scripts declared as Private, protected and public. Which is the correct way of accesing to these methods, mostly the public ones from scripts and dtml methods? Most of my scripts are in portal_skins/custom and i store there most of my scripts and dtml methods. It is from there where i am trying to access de values of workflow_history. Hope it's clear. Thank you very much in advance. Jesus "from heaven"

Automatic Image insertion
by Nico de Boer 07 Mar '02

07 Mar '02

Hello, I've made a folderish product 'IntraNet' that automatically inserts an UpFolder image at installation. I try to do this as follows: def Add_UpFolderIcon(self): """Add an UpFolder icon to the IntraNet product at installation""" self.manage_addImage('UpFolderIcon', file='www/UpFolder_icon.gif', title='', precondition='', content_type='image/gif' ) It's a gif image, but it only installs a reference to the image (I think). The size of the image in the edit tab is 21 bytes and it is supposed to be 915 bytes. Can someone help me? Thanks, Greetz Nico

Python Script & file.filename
by Milos Prudek 07 Mar '02

07 Mar '02

I run across inexplicable behaviour: DTML method "ads_save" has a file type from previous method's <input type=file>, and it calls Python Script. This Python script should check if that file is already present, delete it, and save the new file. This works fine if the file is not present. But if it is present, Python script throws up with Attribute Error: filename at the line number 1. DTML Method "index_html": <form name=form1 action="ads_save" method="post" enctype="multipart/form-data"> <input type="file" name="ad_title"> URL: <input name="ad_title_url" type=text> ... DTML Method "ads_save": <dtml-var "ad_save('ad_title',ad_title,ad_title_url)"> Python Script "ad_save" (parameters id,ad,url): if ad.filename: try: context.manage_delObjects([id]) except: pass context.manage_addImage(id=id, file=ad, title=url) return This is difficult to comprehend, because the offending line "if ad.filename" is testing a REQUEST form variable (a parameter to Python script, strictly speaking). It is not testing a ZODB file. Or is it? The only solution I can imagine is modifying "ads_save" to have three lines: <dtml-if "ad_title.filename"> <dtml-var "ad_save('ad_title',ad_title,ad_title_url)"> </dtml-if> But that's not exactly "putting logic to python and presentation to DTML... :-( -- Milos Prudek
