ZPT newbie:dtml-if last-XXX equivalent?
by vsbabu＠vsbabu.org 12 Feb '02

12 Feb '02

Hello, I'm fairly comfortable with DTML - just trying to look into the ZPT way. We use SQL methods extensively and most of our methods are heavily joined for performance reasons. In DTML it is very easy to find group break points by using sequence variabled first-XXX or last-XXX. Are there any equivalents of these in ZPT? I really don't want to use a asp/php/perl kind of solution where we code to keep the previous value in memory and then compare with the current value :-) Thanks in advance vsb

Easiest way to store the results of a form.
by Lennart Regebro 12 Feb '02

What is, in your opinion, the easiest way to store the results of a form, either from DTML or from a Python script? I'd rather not install a database, I can't write to disk files from python scripts... Any easy ways are appriciated, I have already thrown away several hours to do this and I completely refuse to waste any more time on this. There has to be a dead easy way that I have missed.

Extensions to Image object
by Nico de Boer 12 Feb '02

12 Feb '02

Good afternoon, I'm trying to make an image object with a description. I have done this in Python code, but now I want to make this in DTML. The method that I've used in Python goes like this: def index_html(self,PARENTS,REQUEST): """Extension of img_src to allow textual elements""" return self.render(PARENTS,REQUEST) def img_src(self, REQUEST, RESPONSE): """ The default view of the contents of a File or Image. Returns the contents of the file or image (raw data). Also, sets the Content-Type HTTP header to the objects content type. """ return Image.index_html(self, REQUEST, RESPONSE) def render(self, PARENTS, REQUEST=None, RESPONSE=None, height=None, width=None, alt=None, title=None, scale=0, xscale=0, yscale=0, css_class=None, **args): """Extension of img tag to allow textual elements""" args["height"]=height args["width"]=width args["alt"]=alt args["scale"]=scale args["xscale"]=xscale args["yscale"]=yscale args["css_class"]=css_class return '%s<br>%s' % ( apply(self.img_tag,(),args), self.text ) Does anyone know a simple way to do this in DTML, probably with a ZClass? Thanks a lot, Greetz Nico

From: "Casey Duncan" <c.duncan(a)nlada.org> > Create a ZClass with a property sheet that matches the values you want to > store. Then modify the add form and the constructor to accept and store the > values. Whoooah. I said it should be *easy*! :-) If I wanted new classes I'd do them in python. :-) Anyway, thanks for the answers everybody, I'm all done now!

namespace problem
by Ulrich Wisser 12 Feb '02

12 Feb '02

Hi, How can I use named arguments and still have the namespace available for the method? Here follows what I do and why I have the problem: I have a dtml-method which is supposed to output a <select>...</select> form element. To do this it needs a loop over the results of an ZSQL method. The ZSQL method should only return rows with one special value. So it look like this ZSQL method "sites" (name is of course a defined argument) in folder "/sql" SELECT FROM SITES WHERE NAME=<dtml-sqlvar name type=string> DTML-Method "site" in folder "choose": <dtml-in "sql.sites(name=sitename)"> And I want to call the DTML-Method like this <dtml-var "choose.site(sitename=parsedname)"> The problem is, if I call the dtml-method like this it won't work. I need to call it like <dtml-var "choose.site(_.None,_)"> But in that case I can not of named arguments like "sitename=parsedname" and I have to set "sitename" via the REQUEST object. I find this very unelegant. How can I use named arguments and still have the namespace available for the method? I know you don't want to install a database, but (I assume) that Gadfly is automatically installed with Zope. Jeff
