RE: [Zope] Newbie question re referring to items
by Gupta, Anu 12 Feb '02

12 Feb '02

Thanks for all the help guys... Actually, I knew these techniques, but for some reason, they were failing. Suddenly I realised I had a different images folder one level up which was being acquired rather than the images directory I wanted, higher up the tree. Moral - delete temporary folders before they bite you in the ass - and think before posting. Still, maybe someone else will search on this one day, and save 10 minutes of their time ! -----Original Message----- From: Dieter Maurer [mailto:dieter@handshake.de] Sent: 11 February 2002 20:12 To: Gupta, Anu Cc: 'zope(a)zope.org' Subject: Re: [Zope] Newbie question re referring to items Gupta, Anu writes: > Feel stupid for asking this question, but can't work it out... Custom 404 page?
by Dmitry Litovchenko 12 Feb '02

-----BEGIN PGP SIGNED MESSAGE----- Hash: MD5 I didn't find the place to customize 404 ERROR page except in source code. Is that the right approach to patch Zope code? I think no. standard_error_message appears to show all errors except 404 one. Why this does'nt work... being a ZopeBook Example?
by Jose Rivera 11 Feb '02

11 Feb '02

Hi... I'm learning Zope trough ZopeBook and the it's not working like the book shows... Building the ZopeZoo structure and adding the script... of id "navigation" <a href="..">Return to parent</a><br> <ul> <dtml-in expr="objectValues('Folder')"> <li><a href="&dtml-absolute_url;"><dtml-var title_or_id></a></li><br> </dtml-in> </ul> It does not list the folders bellow the ZopeZoo Folder... I'm running with this configuration: Zope Version (Zope 2.5.0 (binary release, python 2.1, win32-x86), python 2.1.2, win32) Python Version 2.1.2 (#31, Jan 15 2002, 17:28:11) [MSC 32 bit (Intel)] System Platform win32 (Windows NT Workstation) I tried also in other computer with Windows 98 and also the same thing happened... it does not list the folders... The script of standard_html_header is : <html> <head><title><dtml-var title></title></head> <dtml-var navigation> <body> <p>Other TEST </p> When I make a direct reference to the method navigation... it works OK... but when I display index_html of http://127.0.0.1:8080/ZopeZoo it does not work... and it shows the message "Other Test"... so This scripts is running but not doing what it should... Thaks for any help. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Send FREE Valentine eCards with Yahoo! Greetings! http://greetings.yahoo.com

Artificially create a fileupload instance or batch convert ExtImages
by Tim Hicks 11 Feb '02

11 Feb '02

<Gregor: mailed you directly coz you saved my bacon on something very related last time :-)> Is there an easy way to create a fileupload instance from a string? I am trying to batch convert a load of ExtImage files to give them all different sized preview images, but manage_addExtImage() doesn't accept a string. Alternatively, if anyone has a better way to achieve what I want, I'm very much open to suggestions. Here's the script I've got. ---- for old_folder in container.photos.objectValues(['Folder']): container.manage_addFolder(old_folder.getId()) new_folder = container[old_folder.getId()] for extimage in old_folder.objectValues(['ExtImage']): new_folder.manage_addProduct['ExtFile'].manage_addExtImage(id=extimage.getId (), title=extimage.title, file=extimage.index_html(), create_prev=1, maxx=400, maxy=400, ratio=1) ---- Running it gives me: Error Type: TypeError Error Value: open, argument 1: expected string without null bytes, string found <see traceback below> Traceback (innermost last): File C:\PROGRA~1\zope233\lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 223, in publish_module File C:\PROGRA~1\zope233\lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 187, in publish File C:\PROGRA~1\zope233\lib\python\Zope\__init__.py, line 221, in zpublisher_exception_hook (Object: Traversable) File C:\PROGRA~1\zope233\lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 171, in publish File C:\PROGRA~1\zope233\lib\python\ZPublisher\mapply.py, line 160, in mapply (Object: resizer) File C:\PROGRA~1\zope233\lib\python\ZPublisher\Publish.py, line 112, in call_object (Object: resizer) File C:\PROGRA~1\zope233\lib\python\Shared\DC\Scripts\Bindings.py, line 324, in __call__ (Object: resizer) File C:\PROGRA~1\zope233\lib\python\Shared\DC\Scripts\Bindings.py, line 354, in _bindAndExec (Object: resizer) File C:\PROGRA~1\zope233\lib\python\Products\PythonScripts\PythonScript.py, line 336, in _exec (Object: resizer) (Info: ({'script': <PythonScript instance at 014B3F20>, 'context': <BTreeFolder instance at 0CC01490>, 'container': <BTreeFolder instance at 0CC01490>, 'traverse_subpath': []}, (), {}, None)) File Script (Python), line 6, in resizer (Object: Traversable) File C:\PROGRA~1\zope233\lib\python\Products\ExtFile\ExtImage.py, line 88, in manage_addExtImage (Object: Traversable) File C:\PROGRA~1\zope233\lib\python\Products\ExtFile\ExtImage.py, line 321, in manage_file_upload (Object: CatalogAware) File C:\PROGRA~1\zope233\lib\python\Products\ExtFile\ExtFile.py, line 371, in manage_file_upload (Object: CatalogAware) File C:\PROGRA~1\zope233\lib\python\Products\ExtFile\ExtFile.py, line 466, in _copy (Object: CatalogAware) TypeError: (see above)

Authentication from a script
by Marius Gedminas 11 Feb '02

11 Feb '02

Hello, We are using ZUnit for our automated unit test suite. Some of the tests are checking permission handling and therefore need to be able to "impersonate" authenticated users. Currently our code uses REQUEST['AUTHENTICATED_USER'] everywhere and the tests (which are basically external Python scripts) do from AccessControl.User import SimpleUser REQUEST['AUTHENTICATED_USER'] = SimpleUser('user', 'passwd', ('Role1', 'Role2'),()) However we are now planning to switch to the new API (SecurityGetUser etc.), and it is unclear how we can substitute a different user object in our tests. Is it at all possible in Zope 2.5.0? Marius Gedminas -- "What's the name of the new OO COBOL -- an equivalent of C++?" "ADD 1 TO COBOL GIVING COBOL"

"global name 'REQUEST' is not defined"
by Joseph A Knapka 11 Feb '02

11 Feb '02

Hello, all, Once again, it seems I must be misunderstanding something very basic. I have a DTML method that's being called from a DTML document, and it contains the code: <dtml-if expr="REQUEST.get(field_var)"> ... </dtml-if> where field_var is a dtml variable that has been set to the name of another dtml variable that certainly exists in the parent document. For example, field_var == "lastname", and the parent DTML document has either received "lastname=Blah" in its request, or has done "REQUEST.set('lastname','')" if not. But the code above yeilds an error: "global name 'REQUEST' is not defined". Since it's defined in the parent document, shouldn't it also be defined for the DTML method? According to "The Book of Zope" the REQUEST object is defined "for the duration of the web request"; surely that must include the invocation of DTML methods within the target document? Thanks in advance, -- Joe "I should like to close this book by sticking out any part of my neck which is not yet exposed, and making a few predictions about how the problem of quantum gravity will in the end be solved." --- Physicist Lee Smolin, "Three Roads to Quantum Gravity"

need a user registration scheme (Zope 2.4)
by roy＠anoobe.com 11 Feb '02

11 Feb '02

Hi folks, I am trying to set up a rather straightforward website, with some basic user registration (login, pw and nickname). I find that LoginManager doesn't work, and hence I assume Bill's "Membership" product that is based on it won't either. What mechanism would work best under Zope 2.4. I don't anticipate more than a few hundred users at most. Thanks, Roy.
