ZPug News & ZPugDC Mailing List
by Chris Abraham 13 Feb '02

Zopistas: ZPugDC <http://www.zpug.org> Mailing List Died and Rose Again! Well, it used to be quite a fine Mailing List. And it shall be again. First things first, though. Python Motivated Me! I was so motivated by last week's Python 10 conference that I got my hands dirty and with Jon and Ethan's help (thanks iMeme for the free hosting of the ZPug) I have the list up and all the old names in there. (Yes, I am giving up being ZPug-lazy for Lent, if you really must know . . .) ZPug.org was never down, but the list, our lifeblood, was. To get straight to the list, check out DC-Gen <http://lists.zpug.org/mailman/listinfo/dc-gen/>, realising that I am in the process of building a franchising operation wherein all the ZPugs, the PiGs, the ZUGs, the Pugs, and the PZigs can have either a for real home or a referral to the official site. Franchising Opportunities If you need a Mailing List for your local Zope User Group, Python User Group, or ZPug? I have one for you. Just ask. Same thing if you need web space. It will be a subweb off the Zpug site, but we'll learn to share the fridge. <chris(a)zdev.com> Next Gen Zpug is a Community Wonderland So, the next step is the ZPug Community CMF. I will be enlisting your help (those who offered) this upcoming week. It was wicked cool seeing all you all who were there for the Python 10 conference. Also, thank you Miss Joya for hosting the last ZPug meeting and Andrew for winning the Gold and speaking at the last meeting as well. A ZSQL Method to do it like Google?
by Neil Burnett 13 Feb '02

13 Feb '02

Dear Zopers I wonder if anyone has a ZSQL Method that will take a single text string, parse it for 'AND' and 'OR' then create the appropriate sql statement. A very simple example could be like this: user enters 'dog AND biscuit' SQL statement created is like: SELECT * FROM TABLE1 WHERE (FIELD1 LIKE '%dog%' AND FIELD1 LIKE '%biscuit%') OR (FIELD2 LIKE '%dog%' AND FIELD2 LIKE '%biscuit%') Yes, I know that I can do the above very simply, but how about when the string contains multiple sections with AND, OR, NEAR, NOT? I think its difficult, so I am hoping someone else has already done it! A quick search on the lists hasn't revealed anything obvious. Regards Neil

CookieCrumbler
by Yannick Koehler 13 Feb '02

13 Feb '02

Hi, I was wondering if someone can help me out. I move CookieCrumbler 0.3 to my product then create one inside my root... I don't see any new login_form page anywhere or stuff like that. I gave the id 'cc' to the object and now I can't figure out how to use that. Yannick Koehler

html login
by Yannick Koehler 13 Feb '02

13 Feb '02

Hi there I'd like to be able to have a simple web page with user authentication. The page would look something like this Non-Authenticated Anonymous click here to login Authenticated click here to logout Name But the issue seems that I can't find the way to authenticate my user using HTML (not the popup stuff). It looks like zope authentication system is based on folder. I want my page to be seen by both authenticated/non-authenticated but I'd like to provide a way for them to authenticated and logout. I have my acl_users stuff where should I start looking? Yannick Koehler

Cookie userfolder - Redirect after login
by Max M 12 Feb '02

12 Feb '02

Hi I am trying out the cookie userfolder. I have a login screen on the frontpage that posts username and password to the user folder. So far so good. What I want to achieve is that when the user is logged on, he gets redirected to a new personal page. Something like the following code: self.RESPONSE.redirect(AUTHENTICATED_USER + '/dash') Has anybody got a clue as how to achieve this? I have read the source and the documentation of "Cookie User Folder" but cannot really get my head around it. After I send my form data to the user folder what happens then? Which method actually get the form data and sets the cookie? AFAIK I send the data to the user folder object. But there must be a method that takes care of the form data. So I expected to find a '__call__()' method defined, but no such luck. I might be stupid but I cannot figure it out. :-( regards Max M

Quotas on folder
by Terry Hancock 12 Feb '02

12 Feb '02

Is it possible to set a quota on a folder? I.e. the folder knows how much space is consumed by the objects it contains, and refuses to add objects after a certain point. Clearly the actual data storage may be larger, due to the space consumed for undos, but this would be the "packed" size of the folder's contents. Also, the packed size is something users can more easily manage for themselves. I need to set something like this up for site users to have a small amount of user space on the system (and avoid abuse of it). I was hoping there would be a product to do this, but I haven't found one, so perhaps I'll write one. But I'd prefer not to reinvent if not necessary. Also, any hints on how to do it would be appreciated. Currently it looks as if I would have to iterate the folders contents and call "getSize()" for Files and Images and "get_size()" for DTMLDocuments and DTMLMethods, and possibly something else for other content (presumeably I'd have to recursively search Folders, for example). This is basically the "du" (*nix command) approach. Alternatively, maybe I could catch the size when the objects were added or deleted? Thanks for any ideas, Terry -- ------------------------------------------------------ Terry Hancock hancock(a)anansispaceworks.com Anansi Spaceworks http://www.anansispaceworks.com ------------------------------------------------------

Error compiling Zope 2.5 with Python 2.2: Missing Makefile.pre.in
by KEVIN ZEMBOWER 12 Feb '02

12 Feb '02

I'm trying to compile Zope 2.5 on a system with Python 2.2. The command "python w_pcgi.py" ends with this error: Compiling extensions in lib/python cp /usr/local/lib/python2.2/config/Makefile.pre.in . cp: cannot stat `/usr/local/lib/python2.2/config/Makefile.pre.in': No such file or directory In searching the Zope mailing list archives, an earlier poster suggested using a Makefile.pre.in from Python 2.1. I got Python 2.1.2, untar'ed it, and "ln -s /tmp/Python-2.1.2/Makefile.pre.in /usr/local/lib/python2.2/config/Makefile.pre.in" The results were only slightly different: Compiling extensions in lib/python cp /usr/local/lib/python2.2/config/Makefile.pre.in . make -f Makefile.pre.in boot PYTHON=/usr/local/bin/python make: *** No rule to make target `boot'. Stop. The earlier poster suggested that this be a FAQ; I concur. Can anyone help me get beyond this point? Thanks in advance for your help. -Kevin Zembower ----- E. Editing via FTP
by e.frerich＠nord-com.net 12 Feb '02

12 Feb '02

Hi, I'm using jedit 3.2.2 to edit files via FTP. With DTML Documents everything goes fine. But if I edit Python files or Z SQL Methods and store the files back into Zope they change to DTML Documents. Any hints? Thank you Egon Frerich

Index crash in ZCatalog? Anybody recognize this?
by Lennart Regebro 12 Feb '02

12 Feb '02

We have a catalog that we search amongst other things on dates, using code like this: query['date'] = DateTime.now() query['date_usage'] = 'range:min' This selects all records that have either a date that is lower than "now" or where this field is empty or None. Suddenly these queries stopped working on one catalog. The query would no longer return records with empty or None in the date. If we skipped the 'date_usage' and searched for [DateTime.now(), '', None] then the '' records would get returned, but otherwise not. Deleting the catalog, creating a new one and reindexing all objects solved the problem. Two questions: 1. I assume that this index crashed. Any other ideas of what could have happened? 2. Are there any known bugs to crash indexed in Zope 2.3.3 that have been fixed later? I could find nothing when I searched the archives.

Re: [Zope] How come you can't add a multiple selection property in a python script?

Value is used at the point where the error message is generated). How is the association made between the select_variable and the property? Ron
