Compile Python
by James Johnson 10 Feb '02

10 Feb '02

I'm using win 98 with dev c++ and the latest cygwin. I would like to use the gui of dev c++ but I've already tried to use cygwin to mount a temp directory to compile the zope source. I used something like "python wo_pcgi.py". I've looked at previous examples, I guess I'm not understanding the makefile/setup file part. Thanks, -James >I know this is Zope mailing list, but I would like to ask a Python >question. I am new in Zope and Python, but I would like to compile >Python myself in order to install Zope 2.5.0. Xron problem, Data.fs disappeared!
by Marcin Rabiej 10 Feb '02

10 Feb '02

Hi, Here is what happened: I have Zope 2.4.1, Python 2.1, Xron-0-0-10 installed. I have three Xron Methods that run every 15 minutes and one that runs every day at 2 am (call it reportsender). At 2 am reportsender started and finished ok. Just after reportsender finished it's work, another Xronmethod was called - it finished with ok status. Than: 2002-02-09T02:00:03 ERROR(200) Catalog uncatalogObject unsuccessfully attempted to uncatalog an object with a uid of /TO/Reports/reportsender And reportsender started being called a few times every second. ....Until Data.fs has reached 2 Gb limit.... (it was at 02:51 am). From that time to about 11:36 am Zope was reporting errors reading Data.fs. At 11:36 it stopped reporting errors and started to work fine - nothing else suspicious happend. The only problem was that old data.fs disappeared and new one, empty appeared. I have here two problems: 1. How Xron could call reportsender million or more times? 2. How could my Data.fs had disappeared? The day before (08.02.2002) reportsender was moved (cut+paste) from one place to another. First it wasn't under any SiteRoot, after copying it came under SiteRoot and a UserFolder (i think it is the source of problem). 2002-02-09 01:00 - 13 GB free disk space Thank you for any suggestions why that happened

I have set this - now Zope doesn't want to die :) I will have to wait for the next error to see the effect. > We've had one customer who 'made the problems go away' > when they ran single-threaded Zope. Interesting - aren't the MySQL connections bound to a thread? YOu mean there may be a bug at a lower level than mysql-python? httpd processes
by Stephan Goeldi 10 Feb '02

10 Feb '02

On one of our servers (RedHat 7.0) run about 15 productive Zope instances. Versions from 2.3.3 up to 2.5.0. We combine Apache with Zope. Sometimes, the number of httpd processes go up from about 9 processes to over 60 processes. All websites don't response then anymore. A simple httpd restart corrects this problem, and everything is fine again. Does anybody know of a Zope related issue which is responsible for such behaviour? _________________________________________________________________ Join the worlds largest e-mail service with MSN Hotmail. http://www.hotmail.com

Re: Initialising DateTime object from SQL query
by John Wheeler 10 Feb '02

10 Feb '02

Okay, I scanned ahead and didn't see a reply to this problem, so I'll take a stab at it. My first guess was that the problem with the following line: <dtml-var expr="selectDate_dtml(_.None,_,id='s',default=_.DateTime('2002/02/08'))"> was that with the default= syntax, the function is being passed as an address, rather than being called. However, that doesn't explain why it does work without a parameter. What I would suggest, if the default parameter is _always_ the result of a DateTime call, move the DateTime call into the python script and pass the default parameter to it. Hope that helps. Last-modified date across all objects?
by Angie Bayley 10 Feb '02

10 Feb '02

Hi folks, Thanks to those who gave me a hand sorting out image URLs a couple of weeks ago ... things have moved on a little. ;) The site which I am converting into Zope currently has a last-updated tag on some of its pages. They'd like to keep that. Now, I have figured out how to display the last-modified-time/date of the main index_html object - so far, so good - but that only shows the time that index_html _itself_ was updated; not any of the DTML methods that it references. I'm guessing that it wouldn't be too difficult to write a bit of DTML which iterated across all of the DTML methods, but what I want to avoid is having to list all of those methods explicitly. Is there some way of getting a list of all DTML methods referenced from a page (possibly including nested references) automatically? TIA Angie _________________________________________________________________ Chat with friends online, try MSN Messenger: http://messenger.msn.com

examples of custom CMF workflows
by Joe Graham 09 Feb '02

Are there any good examples of using CMF workflows to accomplish "other" things like user registration or really anything besides the "default" reviewer workflow. Just trying to get some idea of how i can use it and customize for tasks like custom user registration / publishing etc.. Thanks. -joe

viewing methods and docs
by Samuel Parsons 09 Feb '02

09 Feb '02

In Zope I've had some difficulty editing DTML methods and DMTL docs. It only happens in the Squisdot product, and I don't know why. I can update changes, but every time i press save all the text in the management screen editor disappears. This makes it very difficult to make quick minor tweaks. The thing is everything else works fine and you can edit and view the dtml source for everything but the squishdot site. I was wondering if there's a setting that makes this happen or whether it just happens that way anyway and there's nothing i can do about it? thanks for any help samueljparsons(a)yahoo.co.uk _________________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!?
