Newbie: Usage of this(), self, context
by c.koll＠web.de 08 Feb '02

08 Feb '02

When I read the Zopebook it seemed to be quite understandable, but looking at some scripts now, I think I somehow mixed it up. What´s the difference between "this()", "self" and "context"? When do I use each one? regards Christian ________________________________________________________________ Keine verlorenen Lotto-Quittungen, keine vergessenen Gewinne mehr! Initialising DateTime object from SQL query
by Paul Roberts 08 Feb '02

08 Feb '02

Hello everyone, Sorry in advance for the elongated description of my problem, I just want to make sure I include all the information that might be required... I have a dtml-method which will automaticly create date selection elements for a form. I pass it a default date in the form of a DateTime object. The value of the form elements is then initialised to this date. Normally I just run it like this: <dtml-var expr="selectDate_dtml(_.None,_,id='s',default=_.DateTime())"> Which sets the default date to the current one, and this works fine. However, sometimes I want to initialise this bit of the form with a date extracted from an SQL query. I can access the field in question without a problem as a normal variable: <dtml-var date_start> displays as 2002/02/08 Now, I know that this format is appropriate to pass to the constructer for DateTime, because when I type in a date by hand, it works fine: <dtml-var expr="selectDate_dtml(_.None,_,id='s',default=_.DateTime('2002/02/08'))"> However, when I pass the date_start variable to my dtml method as _.DateTime(date_start), I get the following error message: --- Zope Error Zope has encountered an error while publishing this resource. Error Type: TypeError Error Value: unsupported operand type(s) for / --- It looks like it isn't passing this variable to DateTime as a string, so how do I make it do that? Thanks in advance for any help you can offer. - Paul -- Paul Roberts <paul.m.roberts(a)sun.com>

Mixins and Extension Classes
by Kevin Smith 08 Feb '02

08 Feb '02

Is it possible to use mixin classes with extension classes? I am playing around with adding an additional base class to Folder, but the usual way of mixing in classes doesn't seem to work (i.e. Folder.__bases__ = (MyClass,)+Folder.__bases__). Is there another way to do this? Kevin Smith Kevin.Smith(a)theMorgue.org

Making ZClasses Inherit Subobjects from Bases
by Ross Patterson 08 Feb '02

08 Feb '02

If I create a ZClass, ZC1, that subclasses ZClasses: ObjectManager and then create another, ZC2, that subclasses ZC1. As long as I don't save changes in the subobjects tab of ZC2, it will inherit the subobjects settings from ZC1. But as soon as I do save any changes, there is then no way to unset the subobjects and return it to the inherited subobjects. I think the way to do this would be to write a python method of my python base ZClass that calls the delClassAttr method from ZClasses.ZClass. But I can't seem to get this to work. Below are my python files: #!/usr/bin/python # Products/ZCapitalProjects/ZCPBases.py from ZClasses.ObjectManager import ObjectManager, ZObjectManagerPropertySheets from Products.ZCatalog.CatalogPathAwareness import CatalogAware from OFS.PropertyManager import PropertyManager class ZClassBases ( CatalogAware, ObjectManager, PropertyManager ) : """ Base Classes for all ZCP ZClasses """ pass class ZCPBases : """Mix-in for Bases """ _zclass_=ZClassBases propertysheets=ZObjectManagerPropertySheets() manage_options=( {'label': 'Subobjects', 'action' :'propertysheets/subobjects/manage'}, ) def inheritSubobjects( self ) : """ Delete the meta_types attribute in _zclass so that the class will inherit """ self.delClassAttr( self, 'meta_types' ) #!/usr/bin/python # Products/ZCapitalProjects/__init__.py from ZClasses import createZClassForBase from ZCPBases import ZCPBases from PartBase import PartBase from Part import Part from SitePart import SitePart from ProjectPart import ProjectPart from Site import Site from Project import Project from ProjectsContainer import ProjectsContainer createZClassForBase( PartBase, globals(), 'ZCPPartBase' ) createZClassForBase( Part, globals(), 'ZCPPart' ) createZClassForBase( SitePart, globals(), 'ZCPSitePart' ) createZClassForBase( ProjectPart, globals(), 'ZCPProjectPart' ) createZClassForBase( Site, globals(), 'ZCPSite' ) createZClassForBase( Project, globals(), 'ZCPProject' ) createZClassForBase( ProjectsContainer, globals(), 'ZCPProjectsContainer' ) def initialize( context ) : context.registerZClass( ZCPBases ) ----------------------------------------------------------------- | Ross Patterson rossp(a)cats.ucsc.edu | | Programmer/Analyst (831)459-2792 | | Physical Planning & Construction Fax:(831)423-7436 | | UC Santa Cruz http:www2.ucsc.edu/ppc | -----------------------------------------------------------------

zope and apache
by Matt Fair 08 Feb '02

08 Feb '02

Hello, I have a website http://www.fpc-stillwater.org with the site in zope. It is running through zope and sending it to zope, where the site sits. In my httpd.conf file I have: RewriteRule ^/(.*) http://www.fpc-stillwater.org:9673/fpc/$1 [P,L,R] The problem is, when I goto for example http://www.fpc-stillwater.org/about/index.html my link in html is <a href="../index.html"> which should goto http://www.fpc-stillwater.org/index.html but when I click on it it goes to http://www.fpc-stillwater.org/about/index.html. It is as if zope ignores any '../'. Has anyone else had this problem? Thanks in advance for your help. Thanks, Matt
