Re: [Zope] problem with python script
by complaw＠hal-pc.org 07 Feb '02

I use the fpformat module. The fpformat module is a standard python module, but you have to import it into Zope. To do that, I created a subdirectory called "MyModules" in my /lib/python/Products subdirectory and placed the fpformat.py file in there along with an __init__.py script that includes: allow_module('fpformat') ModuleSecurityInfo('fpformat').declarePublic('fix') Once you've done that, then you can use the following code in your python script to format the float variables: fpformat.fix(my_float_variable, 2) Hope that helps, Ron > I am having a horrible time with a python script. The idea is to get a > dollars-and-cents formatted string from the 3.87987234233e-1234 type string > that the Sybase server is returning. The python script looks like this: > --- > final = (float(int(float(number[0:10]) * 100)) / 100) > > return final > --- > with one parameter (number) > > when I call it with either: > <dtml-call expr="numberTrim(number=cur_bal)"> > or > <dtml-var expr="numberTrim(number=cur_bal)"> > > I get: > Error Type: TypeError > Error Value: unsliceable object > > if I use the "test" at the top and enter a value it works fine and if I > hard code a value it works as well. old question
by D. Rick Anderson 07 Feb '02

07 Feb '02

I know I've seen this answered a billion times but I can't find it in the archives. If I have an image named "picture" in a folder named "images" how do I call it? <dtml-var images/picture> and <dtml-var images\picture> don't work. I can't even find an answer to this in the Zope book. It's driving me nuts! TIA Rick

Problem using sequence grouping
by Doyon, Jean-Francois 07 Feb '02

07 Feb '02

Hello, I'm trying to build an alphabetical list of items, grouped by letter. I've come up with the following: <dtml-var standard_html_header> <table> <dtml-in "portal_catalog( meta_type='Archive Map', path='/english/archives/5thedition', review_state='published')" sort=Title skip_unauthorized> <dtml-if first-sequence-Letter> <tr><td colspan=2><dtml-var sequence-Letter></td></tr> </dtml-if> <tr><td class="cell_contents">&dtml-Title;</td><td><a href="<dtml-var "getURL()">" class="link">View</a></td></tr> </dtml-in> </table> <dtml-var standard_html_footer> This works fine except that the "first-sequence-Letter" never seem to become true ... >From what I read in the docs: first-variable True if the current item is the first with a particular value for a variable. What I did above should work, shouldn't it ? What am I doing wrong ? DTML method corruption
by Eckhoff, Damon 07 Feb '02

07 Feb '02

I'm running Zope 2.4.3 on Solaris (Zope 2.4.3 (binary release, python 2.1, solaris-2.6-sparc), python 2.1.0, sunos5) and have on occasion experienced corruption when saving DTMLmethods. I'll be editing a DTMLmethod in Zope and then save. I then notice that the first few characters of the method have been overwritten with binary junk. Usually this only corrupts the first 'standard_html_header' line, but still, I don't like it. Anyone ecountered this before?

LocalFS Overwrite local files option
by Anclo 07 Feb '02

07 Feb '02

I want to protect image files in a LocalFS directory so they could not be deleted or overwritten, so I disallowed the options Delete local files, Delete objects, and Overwrite local files. But what does the option Overwrite local files really do? Zope does not let me create 2 objects with the same ID whether this option is on or off. Thanks, Anclo

ZClasses question
by David Thibault 07 Feb '02

07 Feb '02

Hello all, I would like to make a zclass that contains a set of folders & dtml docs/methods/etc. I would like to create a "group folder" for the various depts and teams at my organization for the intranet site. I would like to use zclasses because I would like to be able to edit the default functionality set of each department/team's folder (like adding a document library, new style index_html, etc) once (in the zclass) and have it cascade throughout each team/department folder. Am I on the right track here? Can zclasses behave this way? I'm totally new to zclasses, although I have done quite a bit with Zope/dtml/python so far. I just haven't been taking advantage of Zope's object-orientedness. Any good tutorials specific to this type of ZClass usage would also be appreciated. Thanks, Dave Thibault

Upgrade from 2.3.2 to 2.5.0
by Chris Meyers 07 Feb '02

07 Feb '02

We just got a new server and installed Zope2.5.0 on it and it seems to work fine (after realizing that it doesn't play well with python 2.2). However we have had a few problems/issues with export of our site over from the old server which is running Zope 2.3.2. Specifically we are getting problems with python scripts that end in an else: clause. For example a script from the export that looks like this: if context.noRequestID(): context.getRecentRequestID() else: context.getSelectedRequestID() gives this error: Script line 4 context.getSelectedRequestID() ^ SyntaxError: invalid syntax If I save the script then everything works fine, but I don't really feel like going through all of the imported python scripts and saving them just to make sure they work. I have looked around on the list and on the various zope sites but haven't found any reference to any problem like this. So I guess my questions are: Has anyone seen this problem before, if so what did you do about it? Also is there a How-To available that describes migrating to a newer version of zope? I have seen this one: http://www.zope.org/Members/mcdonc/HowTos/zopeinstall/ZOPE-INSTALL-HOWTO but it seems a little dated now (no offense to the author). Thanks for any help. Product - default Folders/Documents...
by Juergen R. Plasser / HEXAGON 07 Feb '02

07 Feb '02

Hi all! I want to copy some default folders and documents (as well as other objects) into the created product (I want to use the ieeditor from http://vsbabu.org/webdev/zopedev/ieeditor.html and copy the files programmatically) When I have a folder containing some other folders/documents/objects in the product folder in the control panel (puhh) I want to copy this folder object to the product instance at creation time (in the product add method). How can I implement this with dtml (preferred) or python scripts? Thanks for your time, Juergen

Anyone gotten XSLTemplate to work?
by Brad Clements 07 Feb '02

07 Feb '02

Spent the entire afternoon trying various combinations of PyXml 7, (and current CVS), and 4Suite (and current CVS).. RH Linux 7. Seems these two are out of sync.. I just want to get XSLT to work from Zope no matter what. Anyone have suggestions? I could use an external method if I need to.. Just need to find a working XSLT processor callable from Python. RE: [Zope] rendering of html
by Smith, Neil 07 Feb '02

Paz wrote: > Feel free to tell me this is a stupid idea, but for sake of clean > sources after rendering a page in Zope, could it be possible to indent > the contents of a var statement? I wouldn't say it was totally stupid, but it just isn't feasable. Consider all the other constructs <dtml-in> <dtml-if> etc.. Hopefully you will indent these in your DTML, but then in your "clean sources" you probably would not want their output indenting. It is too vague as to what it should do, and it doesn't affect the resulting displayed html anyway, so who cares. I would argue that for the sake of compactness of the html produced it should just admit that the indenting is going to go to hell and strip it all off.
