More about problems between 2-3-1 and 2-4-3
by Ronald L. Chichester 07 Dec '01

When I use python scripts created under Zope 2-3-1, I get an informational message: PROBLEM (100) Script (Python) Object "my_script_name" needs to be recompiled. ... Is that why my code written in Zope 2-3-1 doesn't work properly in Zope 2-4-3? If so, how do I recompile? Thanks in advance, Ron

Hello I don't know how the following relates to the pinging argument but: Did you add the ip adress of the e-mail server in the hosts file of your NT machine? you can find it here: c:\winnt\system32\drivers\etc\hosts Otherwise the dns of your company is thinking that you are using the e-mail server for relaying illegally, and this is forbidden by your computer police department. setting precondition.

hello, > in my webpage,i want user to download a zip file. > this is the code > > <a href="folder1/<dtml-var e_name>"><dtml-var iname> > </a> > > variable e_name contains the zip file with a id and a > title. > now when i click on iname it opens the download > dialogue box. i say save to disk. > now id of the variable e_name becomes the default file > name(in the save as box). > can i make the title of e_name as a default name > (in the save as box)?? how ?? > Please help. This is not straightforward for a file, and esp. not a zope thing/problem. By default, the browser uses the tail of a URI to construct the filename for saving. Additionally, most browser honor a http-header which looks like Content-Disposition: attachment; filename="filename.ext" which would cause the "save as" box to display "filename.ext" as filename. Now we need to get zope to return this header for an object of type file. Fortunately, a file has a property called "precondition". We use that to call a python script to set the right header. So put the following line in a python script above your files in the hierachy: context.REQUEST.RESPONSE.setHeader('Content-Disposition','attachment; filename=' + context.title) call it "setheader" and use setheader as precondition for your files. cheers, oliver ------------------------------------------------------- where can i find information about setting precondition for files ?? i tried to search on the zope.org but its useless. Thanks, Sanju. __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Send your FREE holiday greetings online! http://greetings.yahoo.com

MailHost problems

hi all, I am currently using the MailHost product in zope to send automatic e-mails from my Zope site, via the companies e-mail server. This was working perfectly on my own machine(Win 98), but when the site was moved onto an NT server I've started getting the following error, without a traceback.. Error Type: SMTPHeloError Error Value: (501, 'Invalid domain name') Does anybody know what causes this. The server name I've used is correct, and I am able to ping it from my NT server. Any help is greatly appreciated, Best Regards, Tony. by Ronald L. Chichester 07 Dec '01

If I put the code... class myErrorClass: element_number = -1 ... and then later... an_Error = myErrorClass() return an_Error ... I get an error message when the custom class is instantiated and/or returned. Can I not create classes within a python script? Thanks in advance, Ron

What about speed in this system, is it comparable with CORBA?. We have designed our system such that we need callbacks, id. e sending a request to the server requires the server to call the client again. Is this possible with the xmp-rpc model. regard, Geirt Arne On Thursday 06 December 2001 23:42, you wrote: > Hi! > > You're right, as Stephan answered to you we used in this project Zope as > a pure 'blind' appserver. > > the protocol we used there is xmlrpc (www.xmlrpc.com) which has bindings > for nearly all languages, among these: python,c++,java on client and > serverside. xmlrpclib marshalls function calls and basic types > (scalars, dicts, lists, datetimes) as xml statements and uses http as > transport. > > Zope has a built-in xmlrpc server. > > There are also projects for other protocols (SOAP and CORBA) but I think > the latter one is in an experimental state. > > The point I liked so much about xmlrpc was that is very uncomplicated to > implement. > > As I can read from your explanation it should be well possible to > implement that with Zope. > > Please let me know when you need more information, perhaps you can then > provide me more details about your project . > > > regards > > phil > > Am Don, 2001-12-06 um 13.59 schrieb Geir Arne Evjen: > > I posted this message in Zope's miling list.
