To answer my own question for posterity, there's a product called User Info Folders that performs this function and stays synchronized with the acl_users object. Upload HTML crashes zope

hi! we are running ZOPE with CMF on MacOSX, 2.4.1 if I remember correctly, and uploading an HTML file most of the time crashes Zope, unless it only contains the stuff between <BODY> and </BODY> tags. is this a bug or a feature? How to debug if bug? TIA, Kari-Hans Kommonen

Newbie-ish dtml-with vs dtml-in question

Hello everyone, Is there a way to use the dtml-in tag, and not iterate over the results? The problem I'm having is that I can call a ZSQL method, and pull a variable out of it using dtml-in, and I get a nice iteration over that variable. But in the case of one of my variables, I just want to pull it out, without iteration. I've tried to do it with both dmtl-call and dtml-with, but they don't do what I want, and I get a key error for that variable. Can any one offer any hints at what I should do? Thanks! Russell

Overflow error with Catalog

I'm throwing an Overflow Error when I try to catalog a file--it says "Error Value: long int too large to convert" I'm creating an instance of a catalog-aware ZClass. Following is the traceback. introspection and DatabaseResults objects

Hi, I've created a Python (unsafe) method called "get_related_sql()" which returns a list of <Shared.DC.ZRDB.RDB.DatabaseResults instance at 23023f0> objects. In order to try and work out how to get the data out of these objects, I created another Python (unsafe) method called "inspect()" and tried this... <dtml-in get_related_sql()> <dtml-var "inspect(obj=_['sequence-item'] ) "> </dtml-in> inspect() contains the code... from types import * if type(obj) == InstanceType: return "instance", obj.__members__, obj.__methods__ if type(obj) == StringType: return "string" + ' ' + obj But neither the __members__ or __methods__ bits work. Simple Question about PATH environment variable

Dear All, I'm doing some content creation for a Zope site and have run into a problem with the PATH variable but need some help. Our system admin has installed zope in the /usr/share/Zope directory and created an init script on the Mandrake System it runs on to start Zope when the system boots. All very standard and works fine. I can access the site with the /manage extension to the url. I have installed DocumentLibrary1.0b3, as downloaded from www.zope.org, and downloaded wvWare from www.wvWare.com so that I can search MSWord files that I stick in the library. wvWare seems to work fine if I login to the system with ssh and execute wvWare from the bash command prompt in my home directory. Now, wvWare is located in /usr/local/bin/wvWare and I when I try and search for text that I know is in one of the files, nothing is found. I have a similar install of Zope on my home PC and it works there BUT at home I start Zope from my bash shell (./start &), thus 'which wvWare' returns /usr/local/bin/wvWare because the PATH contains /usr/local/bin. I'm thinking that for some reason the production site cannot find wvWare in the /usr/local/bin directory because the PATH environment variable has not been set properly since the Zope server is started at system startup and not from a user login. Now for the questions. Can someone give me a dtml or python snip of code to dump the PATH variable to see what it is? Assuming it's wrong, where would one modify the PATH variable so that it could find the wvWare executable? Alternatively, would it make more sense to modify the DocumentLibrary code so that the total path /usr/local/bin/wvWare is referenced from Python? Finally, lets assume nothing above works. What I'd like to do is add some debugging code to the Python code to dump out the input parameters and output results. What's the best approach given that starting Zope from the python debugger is a problem since the site is already running? Is it possible to create a trace file in /tmp that I could shoot some text to and then SSH to the machine and "moreing" the /tmp file? I was thinking of just modifying the appropriate .py file in DocumentLibrary, deleting .pyc and letting Zope figure out the rest (like re-compiling) when I referenced the code. Ideas please would be appreciated. Paul

strange behavior with manage_pasteObjects and proxy scripts

I have a proxy script which Authenticated people can call. It runs as a role that has permissions to do most things, but not completely like normal Manager roles. It basically needs to be able to Add Folders, Delete Objects, Add Properties, etc. The script is called "delete" and it's purpose is to remove a folder from its parent folder. Prior to actually deleting the object, the script calls manage_copyObjects on the folder to be deleted, and then calls manage_pasteObjects in a different context, where I want to put the folder. Folder structure is kind of like this: root people user1 events deleted_events user2 events deleted_events tools events delete Say user1 is logged in. What I want is for him to be able to be in user2's events folder, and delete events from the events folder. With the proxied script, he should be able to do this. Here is a code snippet that does the copy and the deletes where "userContext" is the context of user2's folder: # Copy the object to deleted_events what = userContext.events.manage_copyObjects(ids=[eventId]) userContext.deleted_events.manage_pasteObjects(what) # Delete the event from the user's folder userContext.events.manage_delObjects(ids=[eventId]) I think this used to work. At least I never had complaints about it not working, until today.
