Re: Zope Directory and WebRing... Correction and invitation

The URL is www.pythonandzope.com Not .org! Sorry. If anyone would like to volunteer to help grow it, to manage a section, that would be wonderful. There must be thousands of Python and Zope URL's out there, and I am not able to index them all single handedly! And if you help grow it, I am happy to list your resume in the resume section! You would be doing a good deed, and perhaps making it easier to find a job for yourself. Regards Chris 1-510-795-6086 lozinski(a)openstepnews.com lozinski(a)jobmart.com

Re: [Zope] Python script URL
by complaw＠hal-pc.org 06 Dec '01

Do you mean (in other words) that you want to call the python script directly via the URL? I've wanted to do that myself and tried a few times. All attempts failed. First, just calling the URL would lend Zope to think that you wanted to call the script's index_html method. You really need to have something like a DTML Method call the script using the standard DTML call statement. Alternatively, you can use appropriate form tags (e.g., <FORM ACTION="my_cool_script" METHOD="post> <INPUT TYPE="submit" VALUE="Do it!"> </FORM>) I think the problem is that the request that you make via Zope simply to call an object via the URL doesn't provide the necessariy functionality to invoke a script. In short, the URL request is a "GET" rather than a "POST" operation. Zope experts may have a better explanation. Hope that helps. Evan Simpson pointed in an answer for Keith Alperin to a Wiki "ZopeForDevelopers". I looked it up and I have a question. Is there something special if the class is a subclass of exception? Regards, Egon

Re: [Zope] Help on mass import of images
by Sven Rudolph 06 Dec '01

06 Dec '01

Hello Seb, > yes, the data has to be in a string format, but you are passing in the > string "TheImage", AFAICT. No, no. I used the string "TheImage" only as a placeholder for the posting, because a base64 encoded image is _very_ long. Of course I used the correct string representation of the image in my method. You can see it in the file "import_pictures_base64_asstring.py" I sent you to your private mail adress. The code looks like this: >>>>>>>>>>>>> from OFS.Image import Image def import_pictures(self): id='testbild' handle=Image(id,'','',content_type='image/gif') self._setObject(id,handle) self._getOb(id).update_data('R0lGODlhDwK6...<verylongbase64stringofmyimage>...VdzuWAAAA7',content_type='image/gif') <<<<<<<<<<< But this didn't work. The image object was created, but the image data was broken. When I tried to send the binary data of the image as string I got something like this: self._getOb(id).update_data('GIF89a^0^0.....<verylongbinarystringofmyimage>....^Ä^@^@',content_type='image/gif') This resulted in a "syntax error" from the interpreter... :-( I thought about using FTP too. But actually I want to use my own image class. And I don't know how to tell Zope to use my image class rather than the built in image class when accepting images through FTP. > hookable put: (I searched for 'hookable put' on the zope.org search - > follow the resources link at the top of the page for more ideas about > where to search the mailing lists from) > http://www.zope.org//Members/michel/Projects/Interfaces/NewObjectPutHandler I will look at this page... Re: [Zope] Accessing properties of the folder of a document
by complaw＠hal-pc.org 06 Dec '01

Hi Andreas: Assuming that the DTML Method (for example) is called from within the folder in question, here is some code... The following code reviews each of the Folder and DTML Document objects within the 'context' folder (i.e., the one where the particular method is called). for obj in context.objectValues(['Folder', 'DTML Document']): obj.title # this is the object's title property... # ... Add some code here to do something with the property... How to take properties from a folder and get at its contents? Do this... Put the Python script in the folder that contains the folders you want to review. Then put a DTML Method that calls the python script. Here is the code to put in the python script... for fold in context.objectValues('Folder'): the_folder_title = fold.title for docs in fold.objectValues('DTML Document'): the_document_title = docs.title Chapters 4 and 5 of the Zope Book can help you. You can read the Zope Book online at http://zdp.zope.org/projects/zbook There is also ZopeLabs (http://www.zopelabs.com) that has some very handy recipies for doing common tasks in Zope. Hope that helps. delete multiple records sql python etc
by Todd Graham 06 Dec '01

06 Dec '01

I've looked through the archives and seen similar posts but none of the replies seem to solve my problem. Here goes... I've got a table called user_accounts that has user_id, application, username that make up the primary key, this is a child table to the user_info table which has user_id as the primary key. As part of the application I want my users to be able to delete multiple rows from the user_accounts table that are displayed in a form via a zsql method that looks like : select * from user_accounts where user_id = <dtml-sqlvar user_id> Based on the result sets of the sql method I build a form that lists the username, user_id, application etc, with one checkbox for each record. My question is how do I pass the all the values from one or more rows to a python script based on whether or not the box is checked. I've tried several combinations of using record(s) converters and list converters but at this point I'm stumped. Thanks in advance, Todd

May be you can add extra hidden <inputs>, which can be also part of a list near the checkbox input. Something like: <form action=throw_away_script method=post> <dtml-in expr="SQL_from_useraccount(user_id=REQUEST['user_id'])"> <input type=hidden name=extra_info1:list value="<dtml-var whateveritmaybe>" <input type=hidden name=extra_info2:list value="<dtml-var whateveritmaybe2>" <input type="checkbox" name="throw_away_list:list" value="<dtml-var user_id>"> </dtml-in> </form> In the python script you can handle the lists (but the lists are not parameters of the pythonscript). Hi * Maybe this is a stupid question but I just can not get it working. I have a page from which the user can view basic item data and which has a link to a page to display the bill of material of the item. <TD bgcolor="#97bae6" width="20%"> <dtml-with "_(abs_path=bmpsiq.absolute_url())"> <a href="&dtml-abs_path;?ps_par=<dtml-var pt_part>" target="main"> Stuklijst </a> </dtml-with> </TD> To get the bill of material I have the following sql method: <params>ps_par</params> select ps_comp, ps_start, ps_end from ps_mstr <dtml-sqlgroup where> <dtml-sqltest ps_par type=string op=eq> <dtml-and> <dtml-sqlgroup> ps_start = ? <dtml-or> ps_start <= today </dtml-sqlgroup> </dtml-sqlgroup> The dtml method to display the tree is : <dtml-let ps_comp=ps_par> <dtml-tree id=ps_comp branches_expr="ps_childLookup(ps_par=ps_comp)"> <b><dtml-var ps_comp></b> <dtml-var ps_start> </dtml-tree> </dtml-let> It works for the first time but when I try to expand it I get a key error on ps_par.
