FW: Writing to a file

I'm going to resubmit my question below since I haven't yet received any answer. Is there anyone who can at least lead me in the right direction? I'm sure people have done this before. Still new to Zope and especially Python. I am working on a website, using Zope and I'd like to include an Interactive map of the area. Is there any product for Zope, which I could (ab)use as a map-server? Isn't this just a standard feature of html? May be you could explain what you expect of the product? Re:[Zope] Good development environment for Zope?

Hi! I'm using Homesite. I tryed many other options and chose Homesite (with FTP, using Macromedia FTP & RDS tool). Its great for editing DTML code (doesnt have problems opening files with no extension). For Python code, I use external methods and edit them on the ActiveState PythonWin Environment. Re: [Zope] AUTHENTICATED_USER reverts back to Anonymous User

Is there a way around this other than >using cookies or url mangling? > >Thanks >Etienne You are correct in concluding that you are observing the consequences of how HTTP's Basic Authentication mechanism is supposed to work. The relevant RFC2617 says: "A client SHOULD assume that all paths at or deeper than the depth of the last symbolic element in the path field of the Request-URI also are within the protection space specified by the Basic realm value of the current challenge. A client MAY preemptively send the corresponding Authorization header with requests for resources in that space without receipt of another challenge from the server." Howover, browsers are not obliged to (and some popular browsers such as IE5 do not) volunteer authentication credentials but re-present the request with the credentials if the server issues an HTTP 401 response challenge for authentication. When your user makes a request with a URL outside the sub-tree protected by a previous authentication challenge the browser, quite rightly, does not submit the credentials for an unrelated URL. This decision is fully justified given that Zope doesn't then challenge for credentials if they aren't supplied. Using cookies may be your best solution as you can challenge for the cookie at one level in your sites URL hierarchy but stipulate the 'path' attribute of the cookie so that it is returned for accesses from any point in URL hierarchy. I'm not a user myself but presumably the CookieCrumbler Product may be of use here.

RE: [Zope] How to find a function in the zopeSource?
by Meilicke, Scott 30 Nov '01

www.cygwin.com will give you many common unix type tools for windows, and includes a grep that is recursive: grep -r "myfunction" *.py Scott -----Original Message----- From: Terry Hancock [mailto:hancock@earthlink.net] Sent: Friday, November 30, 2001 6:27 AM To: zope(a)zope.org Cc: Elena Schulz Subject: Re: [Zope] How to find a function in the zopeSource? Basically, your best bet is to use a combination of "find" and "grep", such as: find . -name "*.py" -exec grep "myfunction" {} \; This amazingly confusing syntax means "starting from the current directory ('.'), find files which match '*.py' (i.e. Python source files), and execute grep on them each in turn". The contained grep expression says to search the file for the string "myfunction". If you are lucky enough to know which directory you need to search, you can economize a bit and just use grep: grep "myfunction" *.py (which is easier to remember!). This, of course, is not specific to Zope, but applies any time you need to find string references in a large tree of files. Unfortunately, the fact that you don't know this probably means you're not using Linux/Unix, so this may not be so helpful. I have heard that there is a software package for Windows which gives you these common utilities, but I don't know where to get it. Perhaps someone else could help you find that. (Maybe just knowing it exists is helpful?). Hope this helps, Terry Hancock > Message: 45 > From: "Elena Schulz" <elena.schulz(a)gmx.net> > To: <zope(a)zope.org> > Date: Fri, 30 Nov 2001 10:27:34 +0100 > Subject: [Zope] How to find a function in the zopeSource? > > Dear List, > > can anybody tell me how to find a certain python or dtml-function in the = > zope source-code? automatic link builder
by Doyon, Jean-Francois 30 Nov '01

Hello, Does anybody know of a product or extension that allows for easy automatic link builders? By this I mean, I would like <a href> tags to be automatically generated based on a couple of simple parameters, at the very least obviously the name of the object. I guess something that looks for the object and builds the tag ... This would have the major benefit of considerably reducing the likelihood of broken links.
