- Zope - Zope lists

I looked myself for a native product for Zope (Python inside) which would be GIS enabled, but didn't find. Maybe one day I'll try develop one :)). But you still have a big resource links here, where you can find something youi're looking for. http://www.spatialhydrology.com/freedownload.html. Maybe you have more time then me. I found also some links of people intending to develop a zope poduct, but is still just poetry :)). If you want an really GIS enabled website, try Apache:theotherport for cgi-bin/MapServer.... --ugly but working (see a demo at 'http://www.retezat.ro/retezatmap/index.html') I'm designing also a similar solution. If you want just some rasters interlaced with points, try MapIt (www.mapit.de) not GIS, nut you can simulate one :(. Images have to be stored also as resampled files for zoom in&out :((. Heard about Grass+Grasslinks+PHP (), but you have to be a GIS Grass enabled user look @ http://www.geog.uni-hannover.de/grass/grass_addons.html You can search java- based solutions, I cannot help mach here, sorry. Maybe we'll keep i touch for some developements in the future, Dragos Lipan Piatra Craiului National Park str. Raului 27, 2223 Zarnesti, Brasov, Romania dlipan(a)pcrai.ro tel. 40-93-330477 =8-)

dtml-if question
by Kyroraz 03 Dec '01

03 Dec '01

Hello, I am looking to search a SQL database for variables that may have been passed by a webform. Basically, when a user submits a userform, there are checkboxes that can or cannot be checked, and I would like to check the results back for the existance of these variables against the SQL database. An example would be... <dtml-in sql_method_that_returns_all_values> <dtml-if <dtml-var important_column_that_may_exist_also_as_a_passed_variable> > Yes, this was passed. <dtml-else> No, it wasn't passed </dtml-if> This is the logic that I am seeking, but I get a syntax error every time I try this. Does anyone out there have any suggestions? Jason

testing for NULL
by Trevor Toenjes 03 Dec '01

I am messing with TinyTablePlus which has NULL as the value for one of the ID column. How do I test for NULL? <dtml-in expr="testtable.getRows()"> I have tried... <dtml-if "ID==''"> <dtml-if "ID=='Null'"> <dtml-if "ID==Null"> <dtml-if "ID==None"> I don't know if NULL is a string, a non-entity or what? Thanks, Trevor

Building Zope w/ Sun Forte (rather than gcc)
by Paul Horbal 02 Dec '01

02 Dec '01

Has anybody attempted to do this? I'm finding that even though I specify CC, CXX, put the Forte directories ahead of /usr/local/bin in my path, Python is still falling back on gcc to build Zope. Where can I modify this behaviour? Our Sun rep tells us that we can kiss performance goodbye using gcc... Since we have Forte anyways, I'd like to try it out. thanks, Paul. -- horbal(a)atips.ca

Question about tree tag.
by Josef Albert Meile 02 Dec '01

02 Dec '01

Hi everybody! I'm trying to figure out how I can set the "order" attribute of the tree tag with the value of a variable: For example: <dtml-unless treeOrder> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('treeOrder','title')"> </dtml-unless> <dtml-tree sort=treeOrder> <a href="&dtml-absolute_url;" target="previewPanel"><dtml-var title></a> </dtml-tree> By doing this, I get the following error: Error Type: AttributeError Error Value: treeOrder Same thing happens whenever I try with: sort="treeOrder" sort=&dtml-treeOrder; sort="&dtml-treeOrder;" Currently I am using this solution, which works, but it isn't clean: <dtml-unless treeOrder> <dtml-call "REQUEST.set('treeOrder','title')"> </dtml-unless> <dtml-if expr="treeOrder=='title'"> <dtml-tree sort="title"> <a href="&dtml-absolute_url;" target="previewPanel"><dtml-var title></a> </dtml-tree> <dtml-elif expr="treeOrder=='id'"> <dtml-tree sort="id"> <a href="&dtml-absolute_url;" target="previewPanel"><dtml-var title></a> </dtml-tree> <dtml-elif expr="treeOrder=='user'"> <dtml-tree sort="user"> <a href="&dtml-absolute_url;" target="previewPanel"><dtml-var title></a> </dtml-tree> <dtml-elif expr="treeOrder=='date'"> <dtml-tree sort="date"> <a href="&dtml-absolute_url;" target="previewPanel"><dtml-var title></a> </dtml-tree> </dtml-if> Does somebody knows how to render this variable? Thanks in advanced, Josef.

manage_changeProperties not failing when using incorrect propertysheet
by Milos Prudek 02 Dec '01

02 Dec '01

manage_changeProperties, when called on a sheet that does not contain properties specified in manage_changeProperties argument, does not throw an error. It seems to execute succesfully, but the properties do not get updated. At least for Zope 2.4.3. Example: Two propertysheets, "Elvis" and "Priscilla". "Elvis" contains property "age". "Priscilla" does not contain property "age". propertysheets.Priscilla.manage_changeProperties(age=20) will execute without errors, but it will have no effect at all. I believe that it should not execute and that it should throw an exception/error. -- Milos Prudek

Limitinng anon FTP access with Zope
by Jim Nicholson 02 Dec '01

02 Dec '01

I'm re-posting this, as my original post did not have a subject, and I have some things to add: I run Zope's FTP listener on the standard FTP port (port 21) on my Linux servers. I need it there because some of the authors for my site are behind packet-filter firewalls that only allow their outbound FTP traffic to target servers on the standard port. It works well, except that I'm getting occasionally hammered by FTP scanners that connect as anonymous and start CWD'ing to varous directories (/cgi-bin, /home, /etc, etc.) looking for security holes. There's no security problem, because those locations don't exist, and anyway Zope denies access to them by anonymous. But it does busy my system a bit, especially when I get three or four anonymous connections all looping through 100+ possible directories with CWD. Is it possible to disable anonymous connections to the Zope FTP listener entirely? Just refuse the connections? I still might get DOSed, but it's less likely then having them actually connect. I've tried setting anon_limit (in ZServer/FTPServer.py) to 0, but it still allows anonymous connections. Any hints? - Jim

You can try all of the abouve by making a simple dtml-method which just prints REQUEST. Look at what you get.... cheers, oliver
