Zope Anti-spam solution
by Bruce Eckel 01 Dec '01

01 Dec '01

Fooling around, I came up with this external method, which seems to work perfectly: def rewrite(self): return self.REQUEST.RESPONSE.redirect('mailto:Bob@Whoopee.com?Subject=A test of unspam') It seems to do the right thing: pop up email on my machine. And you just put a URL on your page, no javascript needed. I mean, is this cool or what? The question is, would a spider -- which is visiting every url -- know what to do with what comes back from this particular URL? Hmm. I wonder if I can pass the subject string in to the external method somehow. AUTHENTICATED_USER reverts back to Anonymous User
by Etienne Labuschagne 01 Dec '01

01 Dec '01

Hi there, This is what happens 1) User enters site (REQUEST.AUTHENTICATED_USER == "Anonymous User") 2) User logs in when accesing a "secure" page. (REQUEST.AUTHENTICATED_USER == "myUser") 3) User goes to page that is available for Anonymous Users but which is rendered differently for logged in users. Page must now render as if user is logged in, but does not because REQUEST.AUTHENTICATED_USER == "Anonymous User" again?? After doing some reading it seems as if this is a problem with the way HTML authentication works (Zope does not receive a browser authentication challenge or something like that). Is there a way around this other than using cookies or url mangling? Thanks Etienne

Hi, thanks, quite a help. But I couldn't find "manage_findResult" anywhere (it is called when vou click the "Find"-Button on the ZopeFind Page). By the way: how can you do a search from a python-script (say for all objects with a certain id and/or that contain a certain text)? (That's what I wanted in the first place.) _________________________________________________________________ Downloaden Sie MSN Explorer kostenlos unter http://explorer.msn.de/intl.asp

Dear List, can anybody tell me how to find a certain python or dtml-function in the zope source-code? Let´s say I am looking for manage_workspace or manage_main? Is there a way to find it in general? Thanks a reply, Elena

Difference between getItem and restrictedTraverse
by Sven Hohage 30 Nov '01

30 Nov '01

Hello, I build a frameset with a subnavigation -> <dtml-if "REQUEST.has_key('obj')"> <dtml-with "_.getitem(obj)"> show the content of the obj </dtml-with> </dtml-if> When a user Mr.Smith with a role VIP tries to log in, the subnavigation-frame is closed (though Mr.Smith can see the content frame with the same permissions) and Zope throws an exception: "Anonymous user is not allowed. The user would need to have the roles [Manager,VIP]." When I switch <dtml-with "_.getitem(obj)"> with <dtml-with "restrictedTraverse(obj,None)"> Zope accepts the VIP-Role and shows the frame. Hmmm.. I'm confused about the reasons for this behaviour and therefore about the differences between getItem and restrictedTraverse Thanks Sven

Want to Help Others?
by alan runyan 30 Nov '01

If your reading this, you may want to help others in the zope community. one of the big ways I like to help is adding recipes to zopelabs.com 10 more recipes and we will hit the 200 recipe milestone. This is very important as some 120k people visit zopelabs a month, it serves up lots of tasty code snippets that people snack on. I am having trouble fielding the requests and comnig up with new recipes. Please shoot me a email if you would like to help participate in fielding some of the requests for recipes. Or just start adding your own recipes, today! People around the world will love you for it. ~runyaga p.s. please download IRC and goto irc.openprojects.net and join #zope (you will find 50 or so real live zopistas, err and a few quirky bots)

Hi, when I try to use Zope functions like manage_blabla I normally view the html-source of the page that calls them and then try to guess what args they take, especially of what type the args are. Sometimes I'm not to successfull with that strategy - is there a page where you can get all these functions togehther with the args they take? Like the C++ prototypes?
