Difference between id and getId()?
by David Lambert 13 Aug '01

13 Aug '01

I am a newbie to Zoip and apologize if this is a trivial question, but it has been giving me grief for several hours now. I have found by experimentation that when iterating through a set of objects and testing their ids that the following only seems to work ONLY for folders: <dtml-if "id == 'theObjectIdString'> .... </dtml-if> If however I use the code: <dtml-if "getId() == 'theObjectIdString'> ... </dtml-if> all seems to work correctly. Obviously I am missing something very basic here. TIA Dave.

Here's the reference to it in the Apache docs: http://httpd.apache.org/docs/mod/core.html#timeout In my httpd.conf it's on line 105 -----8<-- Start Snip --8<----- # The commented-out values below are the built-in defaults. You can have the # server ignore these files altogether by using "/dev/null" (for Unix) or # "nul" (for Win32) for the arguments to the directives. # #ResourceConfig conf/srm.conf #AccessConfig conf/access.conf # # Timeout: The number of seconds before receives and sends time out. # Timeout 300 <-********** HERE IT IS ************** # # KeepAlive: Whether or not to allow persistent connections (more than # one request per connection). Newbie Questions
by Thomas Guettler 13 Aug '01

Background: I want to build a multiple choice test framework. Everybody should be able to create a new account and them make tests. Some special people should be able to create new questions. Import and export of questions should be done using XML. I want to store the questions and the results of the testees in ZODB. How do I store data in it? The ZODB-Howto covers only the usage of ZODB without ZODB. How do I create a class "testee" and store it in ZODB? If I use a external method and a own database-file this would be no problem. But I think it is a performance problem if every request needs to open the external database again. -- Open Source Software Solutions Thomas Guettler <thomas(a)thomas-guettler.de> http://www.thomas-guettler.de

If you are connecting through an HTTP proxy, there are sometimes limitations of the request size of a POST request. Are you trying this on a client machine on the same physical network as your Zope server, without any proxy (transparent or otherwise) standing in the way to broker the HTTP connection? Sean -----Original Message----- From: Gitte Wange [mailto:gitte@mmmanager.org] Sent: Monday, August 13, 2001 4:29 AM To: zope(a)zope.org Subject: [Zope] HTTP upload - filesize limit Hello, I have created a product in Zope which is based on external files. The problem is that everything works okay if I upload a file with a filesize of 10 MB. But it fails if I upload a file with a filesize of 18 MB. When I worked with PHP there was a limit in the php.ini file where you set the maximum size of an uploaded file. Does the same work for python/Zope or is it something else that is wrong ? I was wondering if I'm the only Zope user in Las Vegas. Any other Zope users/developers in Las Vegas, or elsewhere in Southern Nevada? Michael Bernstein.

(no subject)

Hi again I have a brand new problem: I´ve created a new Zclass "NewsClass" that sublasses - ZObject - CatalogAwareBase (?) - ZFolder (?) - ZCatalogBase (?) - ZObjectManager where (?) means: I don´t know why I did this. Inside NewsClass I defined an other ZClass "SectionClass" which subclasses - ZObject - ZObjectManager - ZFolder (?) I will then define another class called "ArticleClass" that will probably have - ZObject - CatalogAwareBase 1) The problem is that when I´m on a NewsClass instance, I can´t get the select menu shows me the option "Add Sections". It does shows it if I move the factory to the same level of NewsClass but, of course, this makes "Sections" (almost) available from anywhere. 2) Having a newspaper as the obvious target, am I choosing the right base classes for it? Any ideas???

Hi Chris, it was a headaque to install this product. I've got the same problem... You have to recompile the gdchart.so file from the sources gdchart-py-0.6.tar.gz (you will find this archive on the web). But to compile the sources, you will have to change some stuffs in some includes... Anyway, contact me if you need more details. Regards, Frederic Quin

RE: [Zope] HTTP upload - filesize limit

I've only worked with Squid; In squid, there is an option to limit the size of a post request as a response to avoiding Denial-of-Service attacks... What I would suggest is to find out if somewhere along the line there is a Proxy (like a transparent one on a firewall, for example), that is intercepting your request. One way to test this is to telnet to port 80 of your Zope/Apache box, and try typing a garbage HTTP (poorly formed) request and hit enter a few times; if there is a proxy, it would likely generate an error message at this point. If the error message is from Apache, you are likely not suffering a Proxy problem, but an Apache problem... If you get a plain-old disconnect, I'm not quite sure... Give it a try. Sean -----Original Message----- From: Gitte Wange [mailto:gitte@babytux.dk] Sent: Tuesday, August 14, 2001 9:59 AM To: sean.upton(a)uniontrib.com Cc: zope(a)zope.org Subject: RE: [Zope] HTTP upload - filesize limit Hmm... you've got a point. Our server is located elsewhere sp no - it's not on the same network. We are using apache in front of Zserver and ProxyPass to redirect to the zope sites. Got a hint/solution? I'm stuck.
