a problem with "skip_unauthorized"
by Sylvain Boureliou 06 Aug '01

06 Aug '01

Hi ! I use zope 2.4.0 and i have a problem with "skip_unauthorized". I want to publish some documents, but obviously, anonymous users are not allowed to view administrator's documents. So i use "skip_unauthorized" in the "in" tag, but an error is raised : You are not authorized to access xxx Which means that "skip_unauthorized" does not work !. I dont understand. Have you an idea ? <dtml-in "arch_actualites.objectValues('doc')" reverse sort="Date" skip_unauthorized> <dtml-var "publish('actutitle','actucontent',_['html_resume'],1)"> </dtml-in> Thanks. Sylvain

[Q] Problem with copying files
by Asko Seeba 06 Aug '01

06 Aug '01

Hi, Another beginner question. I'm using Zope 2.4.0. I try to make a web page, where some files should be copied from one folder to another according to client request. I didn't find any method from DTML API reference for that. Then I tried to find some help from Python scripting, but found frome Zope Help System at Script (Python)->API Reference->PythonScript, that because of security considerations Python Scripts are not allowed to access to the Zope server's file-system. So, are there any possibility to build a Zope application that copies files on server side from one folder to another. -- Asko Seeba

Creating class instances brings up strange login dialog
by Andy Bulka 06 Aug '01

06 Aug '01

Python script objects seem not to allow 1. the creation of instances of my own custom classes e.g. Class AA: 2. the use of __init__ constructor methods or anything starting with __ Restriction #1 is a rather extreme limitation that isn't mentioned clearly anywhere in my reading, which includes the tutorials and the zope book. The zope book mentions only the security limitations and import library limitations. Why isn't the inability to create class instances mentioned? Or am I running into a neewbee problem? Running the same python code as zope external methods works fine. thanks for any help, -Andy Bulka

can one pass values through the 'action' property?
by Albert Ting 06 Aug '01

06 Aug '01

I'm trying to do this: <form action="get_row?row=3" method="POST"> ... <input type="submit" name="submit" value="submit"> .... </form> However, "row" does not show up in the REQUEST namespace, even though a similar syntax works in a HREF tag. Can this be done? I know I can add a hidden input tag, but it's a little messier. Thanks, Albert

Just got this in my mail, maybe someone here can help him? Tane Piper Webmaster http://www.zopegeeks.org ----- Original Message ----- From: Bill Heitzeg To: tane(a)zopegeeks.org Sent: Monday, August 06, 2001 9:27 PM Subject: Ann Arbor Computer Society I've been checking out the Zope web pages over the last few days, I linked to it from Bruce Eckel's page. It was the first I had heard of Zope. Sounds like I'm missing out. I'm the program director for the Ann Arbor Computer Society (www.computersociety.org) We're a group of geeks, about 70 people, who meet once a month. Each meeting consist of a presentation, normally very technically oriented, on the latest and greatest in the industry. I was wondering if you or someone you know would would be interested in presenting on Zope? Thanks! Dreamweaver WebDAV & locking ??
by Nigel Head 06 Aug '01

06 Aug '01

I'm sure someone cleverer than I knows how this should work. Zope 2.4.0, Python 2.1.1, Dreamweaver 4.01 When creating a file for the first time with webdav DW attempts to lock the resource, Zope creates Nullresource-Lock item as a placeholder (all well and good, I thought) but then DW fails to upload the real contents claiming either 'Resource locked' or 'Resource not found'. I haven't been able to figure the system which selects one or other of these two replies. This smells of pilot error to me so please, anyone who sucessfully uses DW webdav, do you have a takeoff checklist ?? Thanks, Nigel.

Being sure that my number is Int
by Alexandre Aguiar 06 Aug '01

Im making a very simple python script within zope. It has only one parameter and all it does is add 1 to the param value: a = param b = a + 1 return (a) The problem is (I guess) that 'param' isnt a Int value, how can I "say" to zope that it is? Thanks for the help!!

Advice needed: completely scrubbing zope from win2k server
by Keith J. Farmer 06 Aug '01

06 Aug '01

I managed to get Zope working again on different machine than the one I was experiencing difficulties with (still experiencing, actually), and proved to myself that the database does in fact work. On the assumption that it's something in a botched install or registry entry, I'm planning to completely scrub zope from the server, and reinstall. That in mind, what sections of the registry and file system do I need to go through. I'm aware of HKML/.../Services/<Zope>, but don't know if that's sufficient: I've tried straight uninstall/reinstall and the problem persisted. My goals: reinstall zope, re-import the VHOSTS folder and recreate the access rule, move zope to port 80 (existing IIS website on 80 to move to 8080). I'd prefer ZOPE as a service, but things aren't looking pretty for it so far, since it automatically tries installing as 8080 and my attempts to change the port have not worked well. ... Advice? Future watch: how will python division change affect zope?
by Tom Jenkins 06 Aug '01

06 Aug '01

Hey all, I was wondering if anyone here has given any (rational) thought on what python's PEP238 affects zope, zope coders and zope users. For those of you that don't know, PEP238 which is still be thought about, will change how the division operand ('/') works with integers. Currently the following is what happens in python int/int == int 2/1 == 2 3/2 == 1 3/4 == 0 under PEP238 this will change to int/int == float 2/1 == 2.0 3/2 == 1.5 3/4 == 0.75 to do integer division you would have to use a _new_ operand ('//'). Now first off, this PEP has not been accepted (although Guido is leaning towards it), and there supposedly will be 2 years of warnings before it changes. But I'm not sure how the warnings are going to appear in dtml calls or the python methods? I just checked and divmod is available so you could do <dtml-var expr="_.divmod[a,b][0]"> to get the same value as <dtml-var expr="a/b">. I'm more concerned with the python methods that are out there or will be going out there. Should we start coding defensively? Maybe I should add a generic div method and have the folks here use that instead of '/'? Thoughts? Opinions? -- Tom Jenkins devIS - Development Infostructure http://www.devis.com
