Upgrade Zope from 2.3.2 to 2.4
by Gitte Wange 23 Jul '01

23 Jul '01

Hello guys ... I know I won't be the first to ask this question (or maybe I will *S*) ... but .. I would like to upgrade our Zope installation from 2.3.2 to 2.4 The last time I upgraded there was a Zope-2.3.1-to-2.3.2 (or something like that) tarball I could get. This time there isn't. So how do I upgrade ? Here is how I _THINK_ it should be done: Copy the Products, Extension and var dir to somewhere else (as a backup). Download the 2.4 tarball .. Remove the old Zope dir Untar the new tarball Do whatever to install it. Copy the Products, Extension and var dirs back Start Zope Am I right ?? Will our ZODB objects "survive" this ? RE: [Zope] tacker error
by Farrell, Troy 23 Jul '01

Yep. You are probably seeing a problem with some code I added for python 2.x compatibility. Can you give us a traceback so I can find out what the calling object is? I'm cc'ing the tracker-dev list. Please post your response there. Troy -----Original Message----- From: Mick [mailto:vsl6@paradise.net.nz] Sent: Friday, July 20, 2001 7:57 PM To: zope(a)zope.org Subject: [Zope] tacker error I have the following error when trying to view a trackerWiki on Zope 2.3.3, i.e. the product adds ok, but when clicking on it to try and view it I get the error. The product is the latest CVS snapshot of tracker from http://www.zope.org//Members/klm/TrackerWiki/ Error Type: TypeError Error Value: __str__ returned non-string (type tuple) I have submited a bug report, but was wondering if someone had seen the same problem. thanks Mick

Acquisition Problem
by Tane Piper 23 Jul '01

23 Jul '01

Hi guys, were having a little problem with some code we are writing for our website. We have a method that uses the bobobase to locate the newest image file in a directory and create a thumbnail of that image. We then want to load this method into our main page to show the thumbnail. The code for the method is as follows: <dtml-let images="objectItems('Image')"> <dtml-in images sort="bobobase.modification_time()" size=1> <dtml-let item=sequence-item> <img src="<dtml-var "item.id()">" width='150' heigth='113'></img> </dtml-let> </dtml-in> </dtml-let> This works fine when you view it, and it also with the below code IN the folder, but we can't get it to work outside the folder: <html> <dtml-var thumbnail> </html> and if we try this: <html> <dtml-var "folder.thumbnail"> </html> with folder as the path to the folder, it just renders the DTML code. Can anyone provide a suggestion on how to solve this? Thanks Tane Piper Lead Designer http://www.legiongame.nl

RE: [Zope] Functions in a python script
by Sedat Yilmazer 23 Jul '01

Sorry No global declerations in python scripts yet ( maybe at Zope 2.4 with python 2.+) -----Original Message----- From: zope-admin(a)zope.org [mailto:zope-admin@zope.org]On Behalf Of Gilles Lenfant Sent: Monday, July 23, 2001 2:52 PM To: zope(a)zope.org Subject: [Zope] Functions in a python script Hi, I found a strange behaviour for a small script that runs correctly in pure Python: == SNIP == foo = 'a great text' def bar(): # error below return foo return bar() ==/SNIP== It makes a "NameError" on "foo" !!! If the first line of bar() is "global foo", this does not change anything. How to use python functions inside Zope python scripts ? Is it reserved for External methods ? Should I provide all "globals" as arguments to the function ? _______________________________________________ Zope maillist - Zope(a)zope.org http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope ** No cross posts or HTML encoding! ** (Related lists - http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-announce http://lists.zope.org/mailman/listinfo/zope-dev )

Installing Zope
by HisNibs＠I 23 Jul '01

23 Jul '01

I have installed version 2.3.3 of Zope and cannot seem to get permissions set for users to have remote access to editing / creating files or using/managing products. When I log in remotely, I get access to the left frame functions like control panel, but do get access to any of the content functions, including adding and deleting foders /products. This Zope version also starts up differently, without the Zserver Monitor and does not have the usual ACCESS.txt file. Can someone describe to me what I am overlooking in the new release that prevents me from allowing remote users access to zope? Thank you J. Michael Mc Kay

different namespaces in a python script by calling it by <dtml-var xxx> and <dtml-var "xxx()">?
by Grégoire Weber 23 Jul '01

23 Jul '01

Hi people there! I have a problem with namespace in python scripts. I found a lot namespace Q&A but I didn't find any pointers about the following in the list archive: I have a python Script 'xxx' and a DTML method 'xxxcaller' (code below). I discovered that namespaces depend on the method how the 'xxx' script is called by the 'xxxcaller' DTML method. It works as expected if I do a <dtml-var xxx> and magically unexpected if I do a <dtml-var "xxx()">. The output of 'xxxcaller' is: <dtml-var xxx> --> foo <dtml-var "xxx()"> --> sort_order not defined Why that? Greg ------------------------------------------------- xxx ## Script (Python) "xxx" ##bind container=container ##bind context=context ##bind namespace=_ ##bind script=script ##bind subpath=traverse_subpath ##parameters= ##title= ## if _.has_key('sort_order'): return _['sort_order'] else: return 'sort_order not defined' ------------------------------------------------- xxxcaller <dtml-var standard_html_header> <h2><dtml-var title_or_id> <dtml-var document_title></h2> <p> <dtml-let sort_order="'foo'"> <dtml-var xxx> --> <dtml-var xxx><br> <dtml-var "xxx()"> --> <dtml-var "xxx()"> </dtml-let> </p> <dtml-var standard_html_footer> _____________________________________ Grégoire Weber mailto:gregoire.weber@switzerland.org
