What i cannot understand is that i logged in with a manager account. Here is the script: import random, string, md5 def strrnd(nlen = 24) : result = '' while nlen : nlen -= 1 result += random.choice(string.hexdigits) return result a = md5.new(strrnd() + icn + container.REQUEST.environ['HTTP_USER_AGENT'] + container.REQUEST.environ['REMOTE_ADDR']) return a.hexdigest() Since zope ask again and again for a user/password i hit cancel and the html returned is: May some one PLEASE help me correct the problem? Ordered navigation solutions ?
by Justin Heesemann 22 Jul '01

22 Jul '01

hi.. i had to work with a commercial CMS for the last two month which had a nice feature: a navigation tree which could be used for creating a site structure. It was basically a list like the <dtml-tree> tag would create, with every entry pointing to a specific page of the website. I was wondering how to emulate something like this in zope, and found it sometimes diffucult: I was just using folders for sitestructure, and then looping through these folders (<dtml-in "REQUEST.PARENTS[-2].objectValues('Folder')"> e.g.) Everything was fine, when i discovered the fact, that i had no control on how this list was returned. Let's imagine a Website with the primary navpoints, "About" "Products" "Support" "Sitemap" in this order. How to force it to this order ?? Or someone might want to add another navpoint, let's say, "Contact", which should go right after "Support". I haven't found a way of doing so. The best thing imo would be to completly separate the navigation from the internal "file system" structure (ok, it's not a true filesystem.. but still..) Are there any solutions out there solving this problem ? Best Regards, Justin Heesemann

As a matter of fact, it is 2.2.19. Are you running on a PPC as well? CookieUserFolder - how to force a logout
by Mark Langkau 22 Jul '01

22 Jul '01

Hi, I'm trying to figure out how to logout a user with CookieUserFolder. Can someone provide an example of using a link to logout a user? I'd like to add this to standard_html_header. Looks like a great tool, but the docs are a bit sparse for my limited knowledge. (That's my problem, not the authors). An example would be helpful. This would be a great addition to the Zope core! I'll keep looking at the code and post an example if I figure it out ;-) Thanks, Mark

NEWBIE questions
by Bruce Dykes 22 Jul '01

1) How do I set up Zope to be my main FTP and web server? (primarily under Windows, but I imagine this might be useful for some Linux admin) I'm halfway to figuring this out. As in, I know to change the port from the default 8080, I know to create a new folder to contain the site and its documents. I should be getting that done soon. But there should be a paragraph in the FAQ someplace with these details. What I would really like is a nifty little GUI server control panel in the control panel. Something that lets me set ports, enable access control, enable or disable a protocol, set directories and aliases, etc, and a script that lets you suck up an existing website enmasse. OTOH, there may be a good reason why Zope isn't set up to be a primary webserver. I know the historical reason: that it's native environment is a *nix box running Apache or something similar. How about some design explication maybe? Now I've only been at this for two days. This list doesn't have anywhere near the Newbie Intimidation Factor of the Python list. 8-) Thanks Bruce

How do I apply a patch?
by Neil Burnett 22 Jul '01

22 Jul '01

Sorry for the dumb question. I have located a patch for DT_In.py but as I am not a dev-er I don't know how to apply it. I have searched Zope, and the world, but I can't spot a how-to. 'patch' is a common word:-) Can someone help me or point me to some instructions please? Thank Neil

I am sure this question has been asked before, but I can find any information on how to replace the root acl_users folder with something like CookieUserFolder. Can some one tell me how or point me to some docs? Thanks, Chris __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Make international calls for as low as $.04/minute with Yahoo! How to I get column totals?
by Mark Langkau 21 Jul '01

21 Jul '01

Hi, I have a SQL query that returns columns of numbers. I'd like to add these numbers together and display the total at the bottom of the page under each column. My question is, as I move through the returned rows how do I add the current value of a field to the sum of all previous values of a field? I'm sure this is very easy - but my mind is fried from the work week and I'm just not thinking about this clearly. I've searched the lists and I can't put the right combination of search phrases together. I suspect this will be a python script solution rather than DTML. Pointers to docs or how-tos I've overlooked would be helpful. Thanks! Mark
