Render a DTML doc from a python script (not external method)
by Gilles Lenfant 23 Jul '01

23 Jul '01

Hi, I make a Python script that chooses the DTML document where to go depending on the content of a form. The target DTML doc is in the same folder as the form (DTML doc too) I'm getting tired of trying to render the object correctly: (a) Trying to play with RESPONSE.redirect(...) does not work from Python script (in fact does nothing whatever I put as argument) (b) "return container['mydtmldoc']" gives an unrendered document (c) "return container['mydtmldoc'] (_.None, _)" give an AttributeError (Error value "validate") when rendering 'mydtmldoc' Note that of course calling mydtmldoc through a web browser works perfectly. Any hint ? TIA --Gilles

Local Roles, User-Defined Roles
by Ben Ocean 23 Jul '01

23 Jul '01

Hi, For some reason I don't appear able to create user-defined roles at all! With regard to local roles, I'm able to create them, but they don't appear to have any effect. For example, if I create a local role for pnl as manager then change the *access content information* from the acquired setting to just manager and owner (as opposed to anonymous), then try to access the page, I discover that only user webmaster, the owner, is able to access the page. Nor can I change ownership! How should I begin trouble-shooting this? TIA, BenO

Re: About XXX and not XXX

The equivalent in Python Script is this: from Products.PythonScripts.standard import url_quote, url_quote_plus print url_quote_plus("peter bengtsson") print url_quote("peter bengtsson") return printed The only think I really miss in Python Scripts is the builtin type() and some functions from urllib.py. Why do you think type() and urllib() are unauthorized for Python Scripts? > I fixed it (for me) by adding an XXXPythonscript which > > Param :x > > Import urllib > Return urllib.quote(x) > > > Now I get my full name in the input form... > > Cheers > > tom >

Zope blocking client side image caching??, slow site loading
by Frank Sonnemans 23 Jul '01

23 Jul '01

I am building a zope version of a asp website, done by another division in our company. Unfortunately it is much slower than the ASP one. The asp based site loads slow for the first page, but al subsequent pages are loaded fast due to the browser caching the navigation images. In the zope version the images seem to be reloaded for every new page request. Is there any way to change this and speed up loading of the Zope served pages. For comparison the asp site is http://www.unitekequipment.com the zope site is at http://209.48.159.60:8080/uml/ Regards, Frank

MySQL (w/Python) Book
by complaw＠hal-pc.org 23 Jul '01

Can any of you recommend a good book for MySQL? Particularly one with a good write up about integrating MySQL with Python? I want to use MySQL with Zope, but I also want to use it for other (non-Zope) purposes using Python and/or Kylix. Cheers, Ron

virt.hosting & site root
by Marcus Schopen 22 Jul '01

Hi there, are there still problems using one ZOPE behind different virtual Apaches in combination with site roots? I heard something about problems with ZCatalog and some other products, which don't run in a site root folder. Bye Marcus _______________________________________ (0> Marcus Schopen //\ P.O. TIP: use -D to debug products not loading
by Tony.McDonald＠newcastle.ac.uk 22 Jul '01

22 Jul '01

hi, Just wanted to report: I've just spent 90 minutes setting up PageTemplates on a virtual server we have here. The zope installation I'm using as the basis of it was running under a different group than that of the target server. I couldn't figure out why PageTemplates wasn't showing up in the Products folder. However, turning on the -D option in the 'start' script showed that the PageTemplates product was having a problem loading up a 'gif (of all things). Once I set the permissions correct the product loaded up fine. Thing is, I wouldn't have found the problem if I hadn't turned on the -D option. hope this helps tone.

Stop Interpreting My ASCII!!!
by Ben Ocean 22 Jul '01

22 Jul '01

Hi; This is probably a Python question, but I'm using this tag: When an object is selected it_gets_read_as_ASCII, thus, this line: <select> looks like this: <select> As a result, I can't use HTML! How do I keep it from doing that? TIA, BenO
