Don't use both ZScheduler and Xron. Use just Xron. They are really different versions of the same product. Xron is newer. RE: [Zope] Lost with ZEO Setup
by Dunigan, Craig 18 Jul '01

Alex, I have run into this error as well. I solved it by linking cPickle.so from $SOFTWARE_HOME/lib/python into $SOFTWARE_HOME/lib/python/ZODB. I'm not sure that's a good final solution, though, but it's an okay workaround for now (YMMV!). It seems that ZEO uses a later version of cPickle than Zope 2.3.3, at least according to Jeremy Hylton at DC. I'm copying this to zodb-dev(a)zope.org, which is the best place for ZEO questions and problems. Perhaps someone there could enlighten both of us as to a better solution? tokens and multiple in sqltest
by milos.prudek＠worldonline.cz 18 Jul '01

I'm baffled by Zope behaviour with multiple option of sqltest. I have a Z SQL method list_art_writers: --- list_art_writers --- SELECT fname, lname FROM writers WHERE <sqltest m_id type=nb multiple>; --- end --- This method has a single parameter: m_id:tokens This ZSQL method works perfectly when called from a test interface. It also works OK when called from a form: --- list_art_form --- <form action=list_art_method> <input name="m_id:tokens"> </form> --- end --- ... where list_art_method is simply: --- list_art_method --- <dtml-in list_art_writers><dtml-var fname></dtml-in> --- end --- but, but.... when m_id is not gathered from a form, but is rather a datasheet "m_id" property of a ZClass "ORL_Art" (the type of this property is tokens), it does not work: --- list_art_writers --- <dtml-in expr="objectValues('ORL_Art')"> <tr> <td valign="top">&dtml-a_id;</td> <td> <a href="&dtml-absolute_url;" target="_parent">&dtml-title;</a></td> <td> <dtml-in list_art_writers> <dtml-var fname><dtml-unless sequence-end>,</dtml-unless> </dtml-in> </td> <td> </td> <td>45%</td> </tr> <tr> <td> </td> <td colspan="4"><font size="-2"><dtml-var abstract></font></td> </tr> </dtml-in> --- list_art_writers The list_art_writers works fine, except for <dtml-in list_art_writers> section, which gives: Error Type: Bad Request Error Value: ['m_id'] Traceback (innermost last): File /usr/src/Zope-2.3.2-src/lib/python/ZPublisher/Publish.py, line 223, in publish_module File /usr/src/Zope-2.3.2-src/lib/python/ZPublisher/Publish.py, line 187, in publish File /usr/src/Zope-2.3.2-src/lib/python/Zope/__init__.py, line 221, in zpublisher_exception_hook (Object: Traversable) File /usr/src/Zope-2.3.2-src/lib/python/ZPublisher/Publish.py, line 171, in publish File /usr/src/Zope-2.3.2-src/lib/python/ZPublisher/mapply.py, line 160, in mapply (Object: list_art) File /usr/src/Zope-2.3.2-src/lib/python/ZPublisher/Publish.py, line 112, in call_object (Object: list_art) File /usr/src/Zope-2.3.2-src/lib/python/OFS/DTMLMethod.py, line 189, in __call__ (Object: list_art) File /usr/src/Zope-2.3.2-src/lib/python/DocumentTemplate/DT_String.py, line 538, in __call__ (Object: list_art) File /usr/src/Zope-2.3.2-src/lib/python/DocumentTemplate/DT_In.py, line 717, in renderwob (Object: objectValues('ORL_Art')) File /usr/src/Zope-2.3.2-src/lib/python/DocumentTemplate/DT_In.py, line 650, in renderwob (Object: list_art_writers) File /usr/src/Zope-2.3.2-src/lib/python/Shared/DC/ZRDB/DA.py, line 476, in __call__ (Object: list_art_writers) File /usr/src/Zope-2.3.2-src/lib/python/Shared/DC/ZRDB/Aqueduct.py, line 150, in _argdata (Object: list_art_writers) Bad Request: (see above) I use Zope 2.3.2. -- Milos Prudek

RBrowser (Mac OS X) FTP client converts all objects to DTML Documents
by Itai Tavor 18 Jul '01

18 Jul '01

Hi, I'm using an FTP client called RBrowser in Mac OS X. When I update any Zope object with this client (DTML Method, Python Script) it gets converted to a DTML Document. I remember that this used to be a Zope problem, but that it was fixed, and indeed all other FTP clients I tried don't have this problem. So obviously this is a problem with this specific client. Can someone please describe what an FTP client needs to do - or not do - in order to be compatible with Zope, so I can forward this information to RBrowser's author and get him to fix the problem? RAM Cache Manager "next_cleanup" not working?
by Jlio Dinis Silva 18 Jul '01

18 Jul '01

Hi, I implemented a Ram Cache Manager. I cached some methods and they really get cached, but the cleanup_interval is not working, i.e, if I define in my Ram Cache Manager a cleanup interval of 5 seconds I will not see my method's cache being updated after that small amount of time. Only using the invalidate button of my method's cache tab I'm able to cleanup and soo refresh the method's cache. I've been looking into the code and there is something weird with StandardCacheManagers.RAMCacheManager because the ZCache_set which defines the next_cleanup time, is never called unless at __init__ time. This cache properties are well embeded into OFS.DTMLMethod and OFS.DTMLDocument and so my approach to the code will take some more time, but a simple test with 232 and 233 dont work. My simple test is: -create a RAMCacheManager, say "mycache" -create a dtml method "test1" with the code <dtml-var ZopeTime> -create a dtml document "test2" with the code <dtml-var ZopeTime> -associate test1 and test2 with "mycache" -define a cleanup interval of 5 seconds and a threshold entries of 1 and then call "test1" and "test2" several times until more than 5 seconds had passed. Isnt suppose to after 5 seconds I get a different value from my method or document, in this case, a diferent zopetime? Is there anyone really using RAM Cache Manager with success, i.e, can you prove to me the cleanup_interval works? Or else there must be something really big I'm missing here. Meanwhile I'll look into the code. kludge around byteserving problem (2.4)
by Kyler B. Laird 18 Jul '01

18 Jul '01

It seems that 2.4.0b3 has a problem with byteserving, but I haven't figured it out enough to submit a problem report. The symptom, however, is that large (>32KB) PDF objects can be downloaded and viewed in an external helper app, but don't appear in the Adobe plugin. My kludge is to make a simple Python Script that simply serves up the object's data. request = context.REQUEST RESPONSE = request.RESPONSE objectname=str(request.other['traverse_subpath'][0]) object=context[objectname] RESPONSE.setHeader('Content-type', object.getProperty('content_type')) return object.data This guarantees that no byteserving will take place (because it's dynamic). Named "viewfilter", it's called as .../viewfilter/foo.pdf I'll try to figure out what's really going on and submit it to the tracker. --kyler
