Well here's the output when I try python MasterFile.py: File "MasterFile.py", line 282 def _copy_data(self, instream, outstream): ^ IndentationError: unindent does not match any outer indentation level Hmmm .. so it's an indetation problem ??? I have a need to test this var (sys_platform) that is found in App/dtml/cpContents.dtml but cannot figure out the correct context. RE: [Zope] ODBC Test Queries

Great! Thanks! I should be able to give this a try shortly. I use it a lot so that functionality was sorely missed. However, the query' is not getting passed to this link > and so I do not actually get the next set. Instead I get an error stating > the obvious - 'query' was not defined. I had a closer look at it. The problem exists with Gadfly as well. It only occourse when you use a database connection and test it with some test SQL. This is a limitation in Connection.py . If you use ZSQLmethods, you will not have this problem. Reason: ZSQLmethods carry their SQL template as a property. A simple connection does not, since it has no permanent property for the (temporary) SQL string. The alternative would be to pass the SQL string as a parameter to the "next 50" link. This isn't very nice since this is a GET request, which is limited in size. But for not too large test SQL input, it will work. Here the patch: Edit the file "Connection.py" (dir D:\Zope\lib\python\Shared\DC\ZRDB) Locate line 189 ff in manage_test: if REQUEST is None: return result #return unadulterated result objects Add the following code snippet: #CT: passign the query parameter to the "next 50 results" link import urllib REQUEST.environ["QUERY_STRING"] = "query=" + urllib.quote(query) That's all, folks. The query will now be rendered as part of the URL, and it works. ciao - chris -- Christian Tismer :^) <mailto:tismer@tismer.com> Mission Impossible 5oftware : Have a break! ZClasses growing BIG in filesize
by Peter Bengtsson 19 Jul '01

19 Jul '01

When I export my pretty simple ZClass to a .zexp file, the file becomes 17 Mb big. In the ZClass I have a bunch of DTML Methods and Python Scripts and a few External Method. Looking at the list of methods in the ZClass, I can sum up the total size to about 30-40 Kb. The ZClass deals with Photo objects which are big in size. I can't find any hidden Photos that might have sneaked into the ZClass my misstake. (yes I have packed it and made a cache sweep with the default settings) What is the likliest reason for this? Could it be a "memory leak" in one of my Python Scripts that cause the internal Zope cache to cough blood? Help appreciated Peter

Can I *add* to the roles a user has?
by Tony McDonald 19 Jul '01

19 Jul '01

Hi all, I'm authenticating against a database using UserDB and getting the roles 'Staff' and 'Student'. They can only have the one role from this database. I need to then *add* to these roles by looking up in another database (I can't easily edit the first database). For example, User = 'tone', authentication with first database gives the role 'Staff'. Then I look up in another database and find that 'tone', using the system 'eGuides' has the additional roles 'Admin' and 'Reviewer' (no, we're not using CMF - unfortunately :( How can I do this multiple lookup to end up with user 'tone' having the roles 'Staff, Admin, Reviewer'? There doesn't seem to be anything remotely like 'addRole' in the API or the AccessControl directory. Am I using the wrong system for my authentication perhaps? Any hints would be greatly appreciated. Zope vs Kylix?
by Jason Ooi 19 Jul '01

19 Jul '01

This is not to start a religious war or anything like it and this is probably not the right list to post this too. I am a zope developer who as most of us fell in luv with zope then python. My luck in running out as I am being driven to use kylix instead of zope for web developement. I have heard kylix is good for cross platform application developement but slacks in web apps. I have seen the codes in kylix n oh wow man from the surface it looks like zope is so much simplier. Personally I choose zope over kylix but I need a comparison of some sort to maybe prolong my stay in the zope realm. thanx, archer

vanishing tabs
by Tom Cameron 19 Jul '01

19 Jul '01

I am starting to use ZClasses for the first time and I have noticed some funny behaviour with the tabs. I am finding that they are not all always visible in the management screens. I have subclassed a container object, and separately a DTML Document. In both cases, if I create a property sheet and add it to the views, then go to the management area and create an instance of these objects, I loose some of the other tabs when I click on the property sheet that I created. On the DTML Document it is the Edit tab that vanishes, in the Folderish object it is the contents tab that disappears. Is this expected behaviour or have I done something wrong? Dear Sir, We are the Team of Globarena.com. We written asp file and we uploaded to zope server how we can test the file through zope server. (We configured IIS and how we can map the zope directory to the IIS root directory i.e. inetpub wwwroot). Give me the feedback as fast as possible. How can we down load the files, which are present in undo folder. By Adari Ramesh __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Get personalized email addresses from Yahoo! RE: [Zope] images as properties of a document.
by Bruce, Chris 19 Jul '01

If you are creating a structured template, you might want to create a product using a ZClass. I did something very similar. Then I programmatically add the image that they selected in the data entry form. -----Original Message----- From: Tom Cameron [mailto:tom@mooball.com] Sent: Tuesday, July 17, 2001 11:09 PM To: zope(a)zope.org Subject: [Zope] images as properties of a document. I am wondering how I might create a property of a DTML Document that is an image. In the standard implementation of a DTML Document, the properties can be strings, lines, text etc. I would like to create a new type of document with the ability to create a property that is an image and upload it to the page as you edit the property. Can anybody suggest how I would go about this? I have not created a product before, but I am game to try. I am really looking for some hints and tips. Perhaps an existing product that is similar that I could copy or subclass. As a further explanation, I am trying to create a very structured template page. The end user simply edits the properties of the page and I create the templates and how it renders by modifying the index_html method. I have looked at ZPT and they dont seem to do exactly what I want. BBEdit irritation
by tom＠othermedia.com 19 Jul '01

19 Jul '01

When editing zope source with BBEdit (on OSX), every time I switch to the browser(to see the changes I've made) and return to BBEdit, BBEdit thinks the file is un-editable. I hit a key, a dialog pops up, saying the file might or might not be editable, I carry on and everything works. Is this something to do with aquired permissions? any ideas anyone? tom
