I was browsing around Tek-Tips Forums the other day and typed in Zope. It came back with 0 hits. I clicked the "suggest a topic" link and put in Zope. Here's the response... What is that? Regards, Dave Murphy, CEO Tek-Tips Forums

Re: [Zope] Generating Adobe FDF files from Zope / Python
by Anthony Baxter 19 Jul '01

>>> Eric Walstad wrote > If ReportLab is able to generate FDF's, that'd be great! Can you point > me to some documentation on how it's done? Reportlab generates PDF. What's an FDF file? The first meaningful english link for "FDF" in google is "Greek Orthodox Folk Dance Festival", which I'm assuming is incorrect :) A bit of searching around seems to say it's a Form Data Format or something - http://partners.adobe.com/asn/developer/acrosdk/docs.html shows that the most likely document is http://partners.adobe.com/asn/developer/acrosdk/docs/extapi/FormsAPIReferen… According to someone in my office, it's a pretty simple attribute-value pair type thing, and not too hard to parse... ODBC Test Queries
by Schmidt, Allen J. 19 Jul '01

19 Jul '01

Not sure how many use the feature but I do all the time. The ODBC Test window. Recently, not sure when it started, but when I execute a generic select statement, and the are more that 25 results, I get the link at the bottom for the next batch. However, the query' is not getting passed to this link and so I do not actually get the next set. Instead I get an error stating the obvious - 'query' was not defined. Has anyone else seen this? Thanks Allen

Permissions & MS OS's
by Tim Cook 19 Jul '01

I have searched the archives for platform dependencies on security but did not find this problem. In FreePM I can add instances of the Employee ZClass (which adds a Zope user to FreePM/acl_users) on Linux as a Manager but on Win98SE, WinME & NT (others not tested) I get a permission error on manage_users. Object Oriented Development and ZClasses in Zope
by David Legg 19 Jul '01

19 Jul '01

Hi all, Does anyone know of a good tutorial on object oriented development in Zope using ZClasses, or know if it might be documented well in one of the existing or upcoming books. I was thinking specifically of how a class diagram might be mapped to the Zope environment, and how certain areas such as saving of persistent objects to a database and reading these back into objects might take place - basically the way things should be happening or a choice of ways to do certain things with recommendations. The end result is to create an entire system and be able to model it and it's sub-systems as products for reuse. I assume a product translates equally to what a package does in Java speak. Anyway, I'd appreciate a bit of enlightenment in this very powerful area of Zope. Perhaps might be a forum for discussion as to how people are currently building their systems in Zope using an object oriented methodology - saving of persistent objects - ZODB or RDBMS? I await some interesting responses! David Legg

Re: [Zope] RBrowser (Mac OS X) FTP client converts all objects to DTML Documents
by Anthony Baxter 19 Jul '01

Have a look at the ZServer logs, and see what it's doing. I'm guessing that it's deleting the object, then creating it again, when writing it out. kludge: 2.4/HTMLDocument
by Kyler B. Laird 18 Jul '01

18 Jul '01

I wanted to install Evan's new ZPT, so I made a fresh Zope 2.4 installation from scratch. I noticed there's something I forgot to put in my install script... HTMLDocument/HTMLDocument.py needs to have __implements__ = IHTMLDocument # XXX ??? commented out. I forget exactly why I did this the first time. This time I noticed that the HTMLDocument icon was broken. This fixed it. --kyler

Using HTTP Basic Authentication. Encoded, but not encrypted. Use apache in front of zope to get https, or install the m2crypto zserver extensions. Troy -----Original Message----- From: Jason C.
